Came in here for dinner and ordered the carnitas plate. They give you complimentary chips and salsa. The employee was super friendly and attentive. I got a michelada and it was in a large frosted mug. The carnitas were large chunks of well seasoned, juicy pork with a bed of grilled onions on top. It came with a side of tortillas, with rice, beans and shredded lettuce. There was so much food I took the rest home. The food was great, the service was great, and the decor was cool. read more

I order flauntas for delivery all the time and it's so good. They're still crispy by the time they get to me. This time I ordered a burrito and had a whole different experience. It came in a tray instead of wrapped, which caused all the contents to spill out and soak up the burrito. I also asked for black beans and I got the wateriest refried beans. It probably wouldn't have happened if they packed it in foil or at least wrapped it first and then put it in the tray. I had to messily transfer it to a plate. My salsa also spilled all over the bag but that's not really their fault, more so the delivery maybe. I like this place but now I know to just stick with my usual order. This has been my boyfriends favorite Mexican restaurant while stationed in Fort Leonard Wood! We had a to-go order of chicken, rice, cheese, and refried beans along with the exact same order sub steak. I really wanted to love it as much as my boyfriend but the food left a lot to be desired. The refried beans are pretty greasy, very small portions of rice, and the chips we got as a side were stale. The steak is very good though, I usually go with chicken but I would definitely order the steak next time. Giving this place 4 stars mostly because my boyfriend loves the place and while I wasn't in awe of the food, it still hit the spot. read more

Food terrible, it's Sunday and we came in at 6:30 to eat dinner. First they put tortillas and salsa on the table and the tortilla chips are stale and from a bag but they advertise fresh tortilla chips. The waiter told us they turned off the kitchen fryers and won't make fresh tortillas or chips. So everything we eat is it fresh? Or pre cooked and warmed up?? Rice and beans were served cold so you know it's been sitting in a pot to warm up. If you go on Sunday's go early because you're going to get pre cooked food sitting in a warmer. This is my local go to spot for Mexican food. The servings are good sized, the food is fantastic, the seating areas are always clean and it is usually quiet enough to have conversations. They have the room for large groups. The staff and servers are always nice. They have a great cocktail bar and Mexican beer. I prefer the Pacifico. I was at Fort Leonard Wood on business and ate dinner here after work. The Carne Asada was very good and the margarita was tasty! We were seated very quickly and received our food much faster than expected. The atmosphere was fun and there were a couple larger groups (10) celebrating occasions there. This review is given by someone who once loved (18 years ago) the food and ambiance here. We frequented this restaurant while my husband was a drill sergeant and the Chicken Fajita Nachos were amazing! They are not anymore The service is fast and friendly. The food just leaves a lot to be desired. The tomatoes were one thick slice instead of diced, the salsa was a typical tomato taste versus the nicely seasoned salsa at Agave down the street where the cilantro was the perfect amount, and the cheese sauce for the nachos was only on the bottom of the nachos, leaving the chips and chicken dry. I didn't take a picture because the waiter came by while I was writing this (after deciding to not waste my calories here) and took my plate. After a long day, carne asada sounded great. This was our first time visiting El Jimador. My daughter ordered chicken fajitas that came with rice, beans, guac and pico de gallo. I ordered the carne asada plate. I liked how they serve the chips and salsa. The meat was tasty and juicy, the rice and beans were also delicious. We were pretty satisfied with our dinner. A few downers were unfortunately the desserts. We had fried ice cream, the cornflakes they used unfortunately tasted stale and the flan wasn't that good. I'm not sure if there's a plumbing issue but we were sat in the back to the left, close to the bathroom and the smell was very unpleasant. We kept getting a breeze that smelled like sewer. A native of TX and resident of AZ I was not disappointed with this Mexican food restaurant. I can appreciate that they have been an establishment there for many years. Their confidence in the custom made booths shows they are their to stay. The food was very good, they give you very large portions. It has been years since I've eaten here and it is much of the same... and a tad worse. Our food took over an hour and it was not worth the wait. My entree was oily, the guacamole was a watery glob of... I have no idea what, and the shrimp were salty and marinated in disgusting cheese with veggies. The pico de gallo was definitely the highlight of my meal and it was an add on at the last minute (not part of the meal). The salsa was puréed with a strong taste of tomato. The guy at the front register struck up a conversation with my fiancé and was super friendly and outgoing. "Top tier Mexican cuisine that is afforfable and muy fantastico!" We went into El Himador with low expectations, especially since we originally planned to eat elsewhere. We were seated and promptly seen by a waiter. He was fast and prompt, but pretty emotionless during the whole experience. The food however, is a completely different story. The Steak Fajitas were the special of the day for only $9.99, so we grabbed it along with chips, 3 tomales, and a large fishbowl to share. In less than 10 minutes of ordering, our food was brought out by an energetic chef! - We surprisingly prefered their chips over the ones at Chilis! They are thicker, but twice as crunchy! The salsa was similar to Chili's, but the crunch was superior! - Steak fajita was on point! Very high quality meat, generous portions, and the seasoning was perfect! We only finished half together and were very satisfied! - $6.75 for three standard size tomales that are covered in amazing sauce and extra portion of beef outside. Inside was very well seasoned pork shredded to perfection. The consistency of the crust was perfect and complimented well by the sauce. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the Fort Leonard Wood area! The only thing keeping this place from 5 stars is just more friendly customer service and better lighting (Dimmer lights makes this place look a little dirty, but the tables and seats up close are clean lol). I went to El Jimador Mexican restaurant in St. Robert, Mo. I cannot believe they were voted #1, in 2023. First, there wasn't a smile on any of the three people I dealt with. I ordered beans and rice. It was greasy, oily. Really? What does one do to beans and rice that makes it like that? I had to put a napkin on my plate. Second, the beans and rice had peas and carrots in it, if I had wanted fried rice, I would have gone Chinese. I really should have taken pictures. So disappointed. I expected more from #1. read more

My family and I have been in the FLW/Saint Robert area since around 2003. The staff at El Jimador have seen me grow into the man I am now for nearly 20 years. The restaurant used to be divided smoking/non smoking but they now do not allow smoking in the restaurant, thank goodness. The food here is always fresh, made to order. My favorite orders are grilled chicken nachos, steak nachos, cheese and/or beef enchiladas, steak burrito no veggies or the wet burrito. The plates are very large and you will be full with no room for dessert. I love El Jimador, the staff and most certainly the food they serve. read more
