From the minute we walked in we received very poor service. The waitress seemed annoyed. She brought our food and never came back to check on us. She took our plates when we were done and wouldn't bring our bill. After waiting nearly 10 minutes of just sitting there with no drinks and no food, I finally went up and asked politely if our bill was ready. She didn't even look up and replied "not yet". After a few more minutes she finally dropped off our bill. I took it up to the register to pay. She asked if I wanted a receipt, when I said yes please, you could hear her audibly sigh. I went there with a friend on Saturday for an early dinner. He ordered the pescado frito. I asked him how is it? He said it tasted like a dirty swamp. He didn't want to complain to the waitress or have it sent back to the kitchen because he felt bad for the fish. When we asked the waitress what kind of fish it was, she did not know. Then I asked her to please ask the cook. The cook also did not know what type of fish it was!! My food was also very disappointing. The chimichanga was tasteless and the rice and beans were cold. The server was very rude and in a foul mood. As I was paying, I asked the waitress why was she in a bad mood? She just scoffed at me. Therefore I did not feel inclined to tip her. Despite friendly and quick service, I would not recommend this place. The food was not good at all, and I consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur. It looks like it has potential, but it fell flat. Probably some of the worst rice and beans I have ever had at a Mexican food restaurant. There were bones and ligaments in my tacos. Just had dinner here. I have to say, the prices are great. Very inexpensive, like $7.99 for a combo plate. I had a chicken tamale, and chicken enchilada combo. I had asked for a cheese enchilada, but she must have misunderstood, though I repeated my order twice to her to make sure she heard me say "cheese". I do have to give props to having a chicken tamale though, as most are pork. I like their salsa, it is the chunky kind, not exactly pico de gallo, but the juicy, big chunks type. Ever been to Casa Lupe? It is similar in salsa style. My complaints are the misunderstanding in the order being taken. I was pretty clear. And the food is good, but a bit bland. It just needed something, ya know? The enchilada sauce that covered both items was just very flat. When walking in here, it was empty. There were 2 tables, each with 2 people at them. And a young man sitting at the counter. May have been the owner's son. The TV was on, showing a Mexican soap opera. I had come with my mom, and we felt like we were sitting in someone's living room, eating and watching Univision. This place was not good. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food I highly recommend going somewhere else. I ordered a carne asada chimichanga and instead they bring me some other type of meat that was flavorless and not even close to what I requested. I've also tried other dishes and it's not great. The wait it quite long and when I was there, there was only two other tables with customers. read more

This review is for service, or lack there of. I LOVE getting their carnitas special to go. Great food at a great value. Since I have moved out of town, I tried to stop by tonight to get an order to bring home with me on my way out of town. The place wasn't busy with maybe 5 tables of dinners at 6;30. I stood at the register in full view of the cook. No waitress in sight at this point, so I wait. When the young gal that I assume is the waitress comes into view, it's obvious she isn't happy about something. I wait. She finally comes around to the front, grabs a ticket book, looks around, and throws the ticket book back at the counter, ignores me completely, and continues on into the restaurant. No acknowledgement of a waiting customer, no, "I'll be right with you", Not wanting to bothering her further, I turned on my heel and left, without ordering. read more

This quaint little place has the atmosphere of a small American diner, however the staff is all Mexican and the food is DELICIOUS authentic Mexican. One of the best chile rellenos I've ever had, and the portions were not out of control huge. No leftovers, which was great! There was a lady out front cooking up some carne asada that smelled wonderful, so my husband ordered some on a taco (which was a soft corn tortilla, not the Americanized crunchy kind.) Our daughter had a quesadilla from the kids menu, and she normally doesn't finish her food, but she ate it right up. The chips and salsa were fantastic. Hot and freshly fried chips, and salsa that was obviously hand made, with big chunks of tomatoes, bell peppers, etc. That all being said, this place lost a star for me for two reasons. The waitress was nice, not very enthusiastic though. There were only a couple other customers and yet the service was not very attentive. She checked on us once or twice, but few and far between. And the strawberry margarita.... Worst margarita ever. Maybe she doesn't normally make them. I got it on the rocks but it was pretty much all strawberry syrup. She asked me to taste it so she could adjust if needed, and I said it was too sweet. She poured another shot of what I assumed to be tequila, but it turned out to be some kind of agave wine that was only 20% alcohol. I waited for the ice cubes to melt down before stirring and sipping it down about half way, then I poured water in the rest of it, then sucked it down. But then I went to the restroom and I felt queasy and the drink came back up. I can be a little too polite and tolerant, I suppose. Looking back, I should have asked to swap it out for a beer. Oh well! The food was fantastic though. Just avoid the "tequila" and strawberry syrup! read more
