This is an update. This is concerning two meals that I recently had delivered through Doordash. First meal, the chilaquiles with eggs and red sauce Everything was perfect! The eggs perfectly prepared, the red sauce and the chips were fresh! And even being delivered it was still like eating it there in the restaurant. The other dish, the chicken mole burrito. OMG!!! I'm very picky/judgemental when it comes to mole. I compare all chicken mole to my dear aunts' recipe. RIP That being said, El Maguey has amazing mole! So tasty and savory. A serious comfort food. And some more of those freshly made chips. Once again this place rocks! read more

Service was friendly, but I feel the food was expensive for what you got. Crispy tacos were on the small side and rather expensive. Not a huge fan of their meat. Chips and salsa were OK, since they were so friendly I'll have to try something else if I'm in the area again next time. read more

Yesterday I picked up enough food to feed 30 people for a birthday party. The food was great, carnitas were excellent, and rotisserie chicken (my favorite menu item here) was very tasty as usual! I'll just say this: My GF ate a shrimp taco 12/24/21 and got food poisoning so bad that she was doubled over and shaking in pain to the point where she couldn't even walk. Six hours in the ER. She is now on morphine for the pain and anti-nausea medication. I wouldn't go here at all. This was a very serious poisoning. You've been warned. read more

I don't really like to do this but, I'm going to leave this bad review because this is not right. I just went to buy some tortas and one burrito for me and my coworkers. The burrito doesn't taste good at all, and the tortas were the worst . I don't really recommend the torta Cuban it doesn't taste good an the mean is obviously from a week ago maybe the milanesas were completely black, burn, crunchy, they were like old todtadas. Today I went to try their Torta Cubana. One thing I noticed was the prices shot up about $2.00 on everything the Torta Cubana was about $8.80 a year ago if I recall. So I paid about $11.00 dollars for it now. I have to say it was fantastic one of the best I've ever had.. So much flavor. The milinesa was cooked perfectly and the big hung of Panaela cheese fresh avocado. Perfect just think a little pricey for a mexican sandwich. I'd still get it again though. read more

Excellent service ! Food is authentic, place was super clean, I can tell they took all the precautions. Food was hot and yummy, they gave us all the utensils, napkins and salsa we needed, they didn't rush me even though they were about to close. So patient even though I didn't know what I wanted and I know they wanted to go home on a Friday night. All the staff was super friendly and helpful, so hard to find authentic Mexican food. Very super decent. Taco Tuesday has $2.25 tacos. Very small. For $7 and change I had three tiny tacos. Very tasty...but very plain...just onions and cilantro on top. Meh. Can't say I'll be back for TT but I will come back sometime and try a burrito. Super delicious tortas (grilled sandwiches with choice of meat, queso fresco, avocado lettuce, jalapeños, beans, etc on a grilled Bolio roll) here! Friendly service with a few tables outside. However....it's hit or miss. When it's good, wow it is good! But when it's not, it's not. Went Thursday and had an amazing torta. Went today and it was completely different. This isn't the first time that the food has been inconsistent. We inquired and asked if they have different people working preparing things differently because like it here but we have noticed. I use to love this place and at one point in time would have given it at least a 3.4 or 4 star review. I have gotten insane food poisoning from here twice. It happened once, I loved this place so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and went back, i wish I hadn't. I'll admit the second time I was already a little hesitant before eating when I saw them grab meat from a tin that was sitting on a shelf. I just wondered how long it had been there. It was coming out of both ends for a whole 24 hour period, I was literally bed ridden. Good food? Sometimes, and sometimes it's great but I won't take a chance on food poisoning again. read more

I'm not sure about the bad reviews but my family and I love this place. Whenever I don't feel like cooking or just jonesing for Mexican food this is our go to place. They used to have a variety of 99Cents taco with a different meat every day. I loved Tuesdays because it was fish taco and it is delicious. Now it's more the chicharonnes or papas that are 99 cents. Anyhoo...aside from the fish taco, we love their carne asada, chicken, carnitas taco. The kids also like their bean and cheese burrito. The hubby and I prefer their California burrito. Oh so good and enough for two meals. We love their salsa more than El Campeon though they are pretty stingy with it and their chips. Other than that negative we do enjoy ordering food from this place. All our friends and family who have had the pleasure of sharing a meal from here have loved the food as well. read more

They sound really good. Their food is fresh and not greasy like other Mexican fast food. The best part of this restaurant is the spicy red/orange salsa. Good luck trying to get some of it though. The last 2 times I have gone, the lady working in the front says that she has run out or didn't make it that day. And when I have gotten some of the salsa, they are very stingy with it. You have to literally ask them several times to get more salsa. It would be nice to just get enough salsa the first time around without having to feel like you are inconveniencing people by repeatedly asking for more. The food is mediocre at best, the salsa is what really makes it taste good. The salsa is obviously very popular so why not make enough? Like if I was the owner I would be glad that people liked my salsa. And this lady doesn't seem happy at all, she actually seems annoyed when you ask her for the salsa. My advice to the owners of this establishment is to meet your customers' demand for this salsa, its most likely very inexpensive to make plus it keeps people coming back. I for one, don't plan on coming back because the one thing I come for, never seems to be available. If you are good at one thing, that one thing should always be on point. Just saying. read more
