Stunning spot that was recommended by the hotel we were staying at! Hotel is located at the center of everything, walkable and easy to find. Pretty and lively atmosphere, servers were attentive and helpful. Food came out in maybe 10-15mins after ordering. The vegetable lasagna was full of fresh veggies: eggplant, zucchini, fresh tomatoes and pasta. It was delicious, filling and something I've not had anywhere else. The Plato Típico was yummy, pork was cooked wonderfully and had great flavor. Whatever sauces / seasonings they used elevated the entire dish. I'd order this again if I could.
We came here for dinner on one of the nights we were in Valladolid. We wanted to sit on the rooftop but they said the menu was different up there and they serve more authentic Mexican cuisine in the courtyard dining area. The food was only okay. We got the molcajete and a special local dish which is cheese wrapped in a meatball in a chicken soup with other veggies. Sounded great but it was pretty salty. The molcajete was alright, but it's not worth the 400 or 450 pesos it was. Overall this place was just super pricey for mediocre food.
It's a beautiful Spanish-style decor restaurant with an inner courtyard. The starting chips with guacamole and salsa were good. There was a bit of habanero. I got the chicken pibil and horchata. Both were good.
Hands down my favorite place we've stayed! Staff was incredibly kind and helpful in english and spanish. Food was plated beautifully and everything we ordered was delicious! The inner garden area for dining was peaceful and gorgeous with water running from the fountains, huge trees nestled in the table area, small birds chirping etc. I wish we had stayed here longer, everything was so so so perfect.
Amazing food, ambiance and service. Located in a quaint building with attention to detail. Many authentic Mexican food options and veg friendly too. Guac on the table is a nice touch as well!
Such a charming restaurant. They have a beautiful courtyard with lots of greenery and plants. The food was really good. The guac was so fresh. The dessert flan and coconut ice cream were also delicious.
My partner and I had an amazing lunch with a beautiful view in the indoor/outdoor courtyard. The food was some of the greatest we had during our 10 day trip in Mexico! The service was very quick as there were a few employees taking care of our table. It was raining so we could watch the rain fall into the garden area of the courtyard while we ate which was beautiful.
We spent three nights in El Meson del Marques in mid-March. We dined there at least once each day. The checkin process was fairly easy. The clerk seemed befuddled that we asked for two key cards. The room was spacious, clean, well appointed and well stocked. Daily room cleaning was nice. However, they never left us more than one wash cloth and the front desk clerk (again) couldn't understand why two people would need two wash cloths. The dining area is beautiful and nicely laid out around a lovely courtyard. The food in the main dining room is traditional Yucatán fare. I must say, it was delicious. The rooftop restaurant serves international dishes. Again, we were impressed by the level of professionalism in the kitchen and in the wait staff. Located in Valladolid, the El Meson shares the square with the cathedral and the pulsating street life of the town. If we're ever back in Valladolid, this will be our first choice.

A very nice tourist friendly restaurant in a hotel. The ambiance was lovely and the service excellent. We were seated in a breezy courtyard with greenery and a fountain. The menu is extensive. We enjoyed the Puc Chuc and the local Linguiza with the addition of a side of grilled vegetables. Not the best meal I've ever eaten but quite good.
El meson de Marques is both a restaurant and a hotel. You could eat here even if you're not a hotel guest. If you stay here tho, you get to eat breakfast here as well! My family and I came here for both breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was pretty good but not too special. They have a set menu that you could order stuff from, with things like omelttes and scrambled eggs with a Mexican twist. The dinner was yummy and fairly priced. One of the best dish we ordered was the grilled octopus, which was flavored really nicely and cooked just the right amount! Would highly recommend getting it! Another dish that stood out was the shrimp. They brought the pot and fire out and cook it right beside you, so it was interesting to watch them make it! The product was also tasty. As a hotel, the rooms seem a bit old and there were some ants crawling around and flies flying. But overall, it was a good experience.
Beautiful place!! The service was great we asked for typical food and they explained and recommended some. The food was very tasty. You must visit!!

We stayed in tulum for a few days and decided to take a road trip to Valladolid. So glad we did. I can honestly say we had so much amazing food on this trip but this place was by far my favorite. We had the guac, queso fundido, fish tacos and flan. It was all delicious. Plus the courtyard is a nice touch. Loved it. read more

I highly recommend this place for its ambience, service, and delicious cuisine, especially for its price. Not only is this a great choice for great food, but it's also good for quiet romantic ambience, or even groups. It's not bourgeois / fresa / stuck up, but you might want to dress somewhat nicer in this establishment. Don't stop by in dirty pyramid climbing clothing. This place merits a tucked in shirt or a nice dress, not too fancy though. The food and ambience are authentically Yukatanés, if one could say, and the cost for it all is reasonable. Check the menu first if you'd like. We were going to go with one of the other restaurants around the square, but were so glad we chose this place, especially after we walked inside. We stayed at this hotel and received a complimentary breakfast with our hotel reservation. It was most definitely worth the visit, the breakfast was delicious here. I forgot what this dish was called but I enjoyed it a lot. Would definitely recommend a stop here during your trip to Valladolid for breakfast or dinner. read more

The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome. A lovely courtyard setting. Took a while to get a table just walking in. At one point the host was telling folks walking off the street 1 Hr just to discourage them, when the wait was more like 10-30mins depending on party size. The food took a long time to come out. That was probably due the 30 person party they were servicing from a tour group. The traditional plate was top notch. The flan was mediocre. 4 stars for food 2 for service a 5 for atmosphere. read more

We ate here last night and everything was perfect! Our waiter Nestor was so nice and answered all of my questions regarding the food menu and cocktail list. I ordered a mango margarita and the chicken pibil, both were delicious! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. If you find yourself in Vallodolid, definitely dine here! read more
For our first night in Mexico, my husband and I wanted a more quiet and relaxing dinner versus high energy food stands or taquerias. I wanted mole, and there was pollo con mole on El Meson del Marques menu. We both ordered the mole and we devoured it. It was delicious. The mole tasted earthy, spicy and sweet, just like it should be. The chicken was tender and the rice it was served with was buttery. We started our meal with fresh guacamole which was fresh, simple and made tableside. My husband makes amazing guacamole, and this rivaled his due to what I believe is the addition of avocado oil to make it extra creamy and velvety. The guacamole wasn't very spicy and we added some of the habanero salsa on the table to add a spicy kick. We loved the courtyard scenery with the fountain and candlelight. The restaurant was easy to find directly off the main square of Valladolid and made it easy to grab a marquesita for dessert. read more

We had a group of 22 people for lunch. We called for a reservation while we were on our way and they were able to fit us in one very long table. I will agree with some others to say that they were VERY SLOW with providing service - whether it was taking our order or providing the food. The food is not cheap but it's a slightly "higher" standard with the ambiance, setting, and preparation of the food. I don't believe this provides a local feel/vibe but they do have some traditional dishes that would be harder to find on your own. The guacamole was delicious. They make it in front of you. If you order one of the grilled items, they also cook it in front of you. The shrimp was delish. Also make sure to order one of the fruit juices - they are made fresh and refreshing as well! read more

It's a bit of a Disneyworld Epcot Mexican food experience circa 1990. Has its charm, but service is lacklustre and the food is nothing to write home about. The michelada was good, as was the grilled octopus. read more

Oh Maya, I love the food here. Stuffed Chees Releanos is amazing. Coming from the states this was a treat that did not break the wallet either. It was also entertaining watching a few flaming meals and drinks. read more

Great location, service and food. A nice selection of regional dishes as well as more traditional. Had the local specialty, Queso Relleno Estilo Valladolid because, when in Rome right? Alot of ingredients going on but it was a tasty, meaty stew. read more
