The margaritas were absolutely delicious The small bar is cute and cozy, with great customer service. Our drinks and food came out quickly, and the whole area has a charming vibe, with what seemed like a lot of happy regulars. Prices were also fantastic, making this a great spot for both quality and value. If you're looking for a laid-back spot with great drinks and a friendly atmosphere, this place is it!

Service was impeccable. The ladies were efficient, polite and never let us down. Old world Ambiance. Comfy. But the star of the day was the food!!!! Usually the chicken and shrimp get overcooked and tough in these types of dishes, but NO WAY!! Tender and tasty. The shrimp was beyond great. I don't like bell peppers in my food because they overwhelm everything, so I substituted tomatoes. Great call. Come to downtown Waxahachi. It was worth the hour drive for me. I'll be back!!

Unfortunately very disappointed... food was bland and in need of seasoning. Was definitely unimpressed all around margaritas are alright but not worth the $12 I paid for very thankful I only got one. Service was alright but also felt rushed. If you are looking for some top notch Mexican in Waxahachie choose somewhere else.

#6 Enchilada Plate, $12.99 prior to tax. Requested enchilada sauce be placed on the side (which is not shown)

El Mexicano Grill is located in downtown Waxahachie, on the corner, across from Courthouse Cafe. There is free street parking available. My husband and I decided to make a to go order for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We phone called our order a little before 5 pm and ended up ordering: 6 Piece Buffalo Wings, $10.99 prior to tax- This appetizer came with a small side order of fries. I thought the wings were just okay. The fries were oily and soggy. Wouldn't recommend this appetizer. Chips and Salsa- Complimentary and nice that it came with our to go order. The salsa was spicy but good. The chips were oily (should have been drained longer) and freshly made. #11 Tres Amigos Plate, $14.50 prior to tax- This trio came with the following (all beef fajita, according to the menu) taco, tostada and quesadilla that comes with a side of rice and beans. I didn't try any of this but my husband thought it was good. This ended up being 2 meals for my husband. Everything was covered in cheese though so it was hard to tell what was what when we opened the styrofoam box. #6 Enchilada Plate, $12.99 prior to tax- I opted for this entree and asked for the sauce to be placed on the side. I am glad I did because the sauce was a little too spicy for me (I'm not much of a spicy eater) and thought it was fine with just the cheese alone. My entree also came with rice and beans. I think I got more beans than my husband. When asked what filling I wanted for the enchiladas, I just requested one of each (chicken, pork, cheese). My leftovers were also made for another meal the next day. ----------------------- (Total= $42.74 after tax, prior to tip) The menu on this restaurant's website was outdated and also did not provide the full menu. I had to rely on the photos of the menu on this Yelp page (although the prices are outdated too since our order was a few dollars more per item ordered that showed on the receipt. Service was okay for the most part. Food was average. Overall, we were both fed and thought the food was okay but wouldn't come back.

    Chile relleno lunch special $8.99

Must see ID All the restaurants in this down are empty including El Mexicano Grill although they have a huge now hiring sign out front. I ordered the lunch special chile relleno $8.99, shrimp taco and the menu Mexican sangria soda (the waiter asked for my ID). Chile relleno was pretty good, not to eggy and the pepper was tender. The rice and beans were no bueno especially the rice it was hard and dry. Shrimp taco was cooked to death and arrived dry and chewy I didn't even finish it.

When it comes to Mexican I'm a bit particular and not being prejudice just stating my opinion that don't really care for Authentic Mexican but prefer Tex-Mex. I prefer the Tex-Mex around the Dallas area apposed to Mexico City Mexican in Austin of San Antonio. We joke that we judge a Mexican restaurant first by their chips & salsa and then by their tequila. But in this case I and judging this place by not only the taste but if they give one basket of chips and one tiny bowl of salsa for 4 people well that just gets me pissy. We had a very nice server so I didn't really get pissy but I personally think that typically Dallas as being very generous with chips and Salsa and Austin and San Antonio being stingy. I like to have my own salsa, just saying. The chips tasted good and the salsa pretty good. They have a hot and cold version you have to ask for the hot. Really good Guacamole with the option of having it made at your table. My dish was the Chicken Monterey and it looked really good with good quality chicken just tasted a little bland and that's my opinion of authentic Mexican. I tasted the chicken quesadilla and it was pretty good as well just a bit bland. So my assessment if most people think it pretty good, I think it needs a little more flavor or seasoning. I absolutely love the decor, excellent table and chairs, pictures on the walls. They have done a great job decorating. Only 1 men's and 1 women's bathroom with 1 stall each. The food was presented well and had good quality just lacking what I would want for a spicy southwest/Mexican flavor that I think there should be

This restaurant is so homey. They have decorated the place authentic Mexican style and it's really pretty. It's divided by what seems like a bar & restaurant. The bar has louder music playing. The restaurant is more quiet , you can have a comfortable conversation. Our waitress was very sweet and took very good care of us. She was so patient to our endless questions and my nieces mess. I can't wait to go back one day!

This isn't a fancy Mexican restaurant. That's not why you come here. You come for the fantastic Tex-mex food. The waitress are awesome. The

After ordering, it often takes another 10 minutes just to receive them. Appetizers usually arrive at the same time as the main meal, which defeats the purpose of ordering them in the first place. The chips are hard and overly thick, making them difficult to enjoy. The queso is decent, but it contains large chunks of tomatoes and peppers that seem to take up more space than the queso itself. We've been coming here for over seven years, but ever since the two sisters--the owners' daughters--stopped working here, the service has steadily declined. If it weren't for how good the food is, we likely wouldn't keep coming back. What's frustrating is that there always seems to be plenty of staff on the floor, yet customers are still left waiting. Ironically, the bus staff cleans tables quickly as soon as they're empty--if only the waitstaff were just as quick to greet tables and check on guests. If management tightened up the front-of-house service, this place could easily be one of the top restaurants to recommend. As it stands, the food carries the experience, not the service.

We were given free chips and salsa, and I got spinach enchiladas which came with a side of rice and beans. I literally ate every last bite! The meal has so much rich flavor, the spice was right. We got to sit outside in the patio which was so nice and breezy, perfect weather. The staff was nice, the service was quick- we were sat immediately at the table we picked. Called the order in at 10:30 for a 12 o'clock pick up food wasn't ready. If you're gonna offer to order food online with a specific pick up time then at least honor it if not, take it off your website. I checked all of the food before I left the parking lot because it's a 30 minute drive to our destination, but I failed to check for the flour tortillas and got home and there was none. On my 30 minute drive back to the restaurant to get the flour tortillas I called them 17 minutes out and they said they would have my chips and tortillas ready for me. Well, I got there they had no clue what I was talking about, and after talking to the hostess stand twice, I asked for a manager and finally after 17 minutes I got the tortillas that I originally should've had and the chips and was on my way. The family put the food in the oven to wait for my hour drive to get the tortillas and when we got the food out lo and behold, the two fajita chimichangas we ordered one was chicken. Lastly, part of our order was beef fajitas for 2 and I have never had beef fajitas that the meat was cut in squares. It was the weirdest beef fajitas I've ever had and the meat itself didn't even look that healthy. Unfortunately, as things go once a restaurant becomes popular and good overtime they just go to the wayside with quality and good help. So not only did they waste about an hour and a half of my time on Mother's Day, they got the orders wrong, the food quality was terrible and eventually we didn't get what we wanted and we paid over $120 for this experience.

I've had some great tacos from a number of places , but I'm always looking to see if I can find a birria taco from one place that makes me immediately stop searching . In my search for birria tacos in waxahachie , this place was the 2nd place on the list, the first one listed was a place that I had already tried. I almost gave up on try this spot because i literally unknowingly drove past this restaurant in a circle 4 times . The location being downtown waxahachie, you'd expect that parking would have been the reason for that . Only parking was multiple in front of this restaurant. The issue was the marketing / advertisement is almost nonexistent. It's hard to locate this place because the color of the building and choice of coloring for the decals. I luckily found it because my GPS said I was literally live at the location and I seen a hanging sign that said open. I was greeted by a very friendly older Hispanic man who was operating the cashier. Had so really hyped music playing , and he danced and sang alone , it was so adorable. I ordered 2 birria tacos and 2 birria rolls and drink , I paid a little over $20. I like that the food is made when you ordered . Where I was standing I could see a lady freshly chopping up meats and making hot sauce . While I waited for my order to be prepared , the guy operating the front end / register insisted that I try each the drinks that they had available. I fell In love with the cucumber and lime juice. It was so refreshing ,. I could definitely see myself enjoying a large slightly frozen cup of this concoction this blazing hot summer that's quickly and rudely approaching. Another couple came in to dine and you could tell by the way they ordered by not even acknowledging the menu and taking a seat in the back that they were regulars. A couple of things that I didn't care too much for was the being given my total and having to pay after my food was completed . Only because I would have hated for them to have cooked that stuff to find out that I didn't have enough. And then there were a lot of fruit flies flying around. I didn't hold that against them because it's that time of the year and I could also see that they were using fresh fruits and vegetable The talks and the rolls were really good . I liked that my tacos were really Crunchy and crispy but not burnt . The birria rolls weren't prepared how I expected them to be. Which is like an egg-roll and crispy, instead it gave me more of a pig in the blanket type of vibes . Nevertheless, it was really good as well and they can get you really full. The consome was very bland !! It tastes like complete NOTHING. As if it were just water with onions and cilantro floating around. They have really good red and green hot sauce. You know it's good when you save some to eat with some fried chicken overall I will absolutely be returning to the taco spot .
