We eat there fairly frequently, but always at the bar with Marco. The service he provides is outstanding. Once you've been there for a while, he remembers what you've ordered, what you like and dislike and what issues you've had out of the kitchen. My wife and I ate dinner here tonight, and I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant meal than this one. I ordered the chile relleño, and it had no taste whatsoever. We stopped in at this location for some much-needed food. We were seated within 10 minutes in a round booth that was perfect for 5 people. Our waiter was very attentive and managed to get our orders and drinks out quite fast. The place was a bit loud, but that's understandable for dinner time. Thankfully our booth was in the front but in a corner, so it wasn't too bad. From what I saw, the place was very clean and well-run. My only complaint is my veggie burrito had mostly onions. Like, a ton of onions. It was good, but I had to remove quite a bit of onions to eat it. I was expecting more veggies than just onions and peppers. However, everything else was very good. I loved the chips and salsa. Most of the table didn't like the "queso", but I enjoyed it...even if it was more like a warm fondue than what you'd expect. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals quite a bit. I can say it was a pleasant experience, even though my burrito was basically an onion burrito. Lesson learned, and if I return, I'll stick to my norm: cheese enchiladas, because I know from other locations they are wonderful. read more

I ordered a couple of beers one draft and one bottle they were cold and I ordered the queso with meat It was very tasty with two entries chicken Monterey, and a dinner plate encalada and quac tostada and hard shell taco and rice and beans.all were ok...nothing really make say must come back...all though the server was excellent. read more

Our family had a surprise 80th birthday party for 20 at your Waxahachie location on Saturday, 1/20/24. The manager accommodated us immediately. The two servers, Raven and Emerald, were outstanding! How they were able to handle us all easily is beyond me. They anticipated drink and chip refills, and were so pleasant to have at our table. Kudos to the kitchen staff for pumping out 20 delicious meals at the same time too. The food was delicious, our 80 year old Aunt was surprised and it was just a wonderful experience. This is not about the food at all, but just a weird situation that occurred. We ordered take out. It was my wife's birthday and we were headed to her Mother's for lunch. I pulled in and contacted the folks inside. A couple min later a guy pulled in next to me. He walked in and walked right back out and got in his car. I looked over and thought "That's funny, he got fajita nachos too".... couple min passed and no one had brought my order. I went inside and found out that the guy I saw had walked in, picked up MY order without anyone stopping him and walked out.... Now, they remade my order, gave us some queso on the house, but when I asked how that happens, was told "it happens a lot. This is my least favorite El Fenix location. OK service, bland food. The exact same dishes taste entirely different at their Downtown Dallas location. Also, our food came out less than 5 minutes after placing our orders. My party thought that was a little odd. Most likely, they have everything sitting under heat lamps. It's been decades since my last visit to an El Fenix. I was starving and decided to pull into their Waxahachie location. I order two beef enchiladas, a crispy taco, rice, beans, and a sweet tea. The complimentary chips were warm and crisp and the red salsa was exactly how I remember it. Any Mexican restaurant that doesn't provide complimentary chips and salsa should be ashamed. And if the salsa is as watery and tasteless as the stuff I got recently at Chuy's, they should hang their heads in shame. The food came out fast and hot (don't touch the plate, because it's hot). This was exactly what I was expecting - Mexican food made for Americans. Old school tacos with a crunchy shell, ground beef, shredded cheddar, lettuce, and diced tomatoes. I added some salsa on top. The enchiladas were surprisingly filling. If you're looking for Southwest dining adventure, this is probably not the place for you. But if you're looking for great service and old fashioned comfort food, you will find it here. read more

I'm a fan of the El Fenix in downtown Dallas. They are pretty decent for cheap Mexican food. This location, though, was not that great. The service was great, though. Our waitress was really nice and friendly. The chips here are good, but the salsa was very watered down and lacked flavor. We got a hotter salsa that tasted like they just added jalapeno juice to it. Not good. Pretty much everything else I had lacked flavor, the queso, the cheese enchiladas. The guacamole was decent as well as the swirl margarita. My cousin's kid who turned 16 was happy, and they sang happy birthday to him, so I guess that's good. read more

We waited outside in the internet order parking space for 10 min before I just walked in and picked up the order sitting on the table.
