Mmmmmmm...I usually do not like the yellow queso, but this is wonderful, with just the right amount of spice. The food came in individual containers, which kept it nice and warm. The pork was really quite delicious; tender and good seasoning. The rice was a tiny bit disappointing. It was a little mushy. The pico also came with limes, which totally offset the rice. The waiter kept reminding me that they closed in 30 minutes and then he reminded me again that they closed in 15 minutes. I had plenty of time to eat my meal without him rushing me. He was a real jerk. I felt like. He was more interested in getting off at work on time that he was about providing good service. I'm 73 years old but when I was in my 20s, I spent over 10 years working in the restaurant business. I worked in every job from Cook, to server, to assist manager, to manager. I would have never said anything like that to any of my customers. If they came in at closing time, I welcomed them and make sure they received excellent service. My son wanted to try this family owned restaurant and we all were impressed. The decor and atmosphere was friendly and inviting which included some really nice photos of Wichita landmarks and lots of Christmas decor. Family Reunion there a few years ago. My Family went to the original location in the 80's. Still Good, But not the same. The Burritos Pork or Beef with whole Beans, Baked with Cheese, Taco's Fried, Beans and Rice were The Best!! A Lady used to wait on us, and knew exactly what we wanted. We had a choice of Salsa or Pico. We could get great sides of Guac and even sour cream, xtra cheese etc. without an extra charge. Everything came out of kitchen that we could see from our table, Fresh and Hot Always!! Miss those days!! When we came to Your location for reunion, It was good, But Not The Same. Told by Chef or New Owner that Recipes were The Same. Sadly They are Not. A Lot of OREGANO. Should Be More Balanced. Maybe in the future we will try a visit again. I grew up in the neighborhood and enjoyed many meals here in years gone by. Apparently changed hands over a decade ago. So looked way better than the last time I was here. Way way better. That was a pleasant surprise. The server we had (they sat us near the bar) was the coolest, kindest, best server ever. Really. The food. Not quite as I remembered. We had two dishes. Very good food; service is prompt. I especially like the deluxe burrito; it is HUGE though. I usually have to get a to-go box and take some of it home. They keep bringing chips and salsa (both mild and hot). Prices are good for what you get. Cocktails are a bit overpriced. Two things that I don't like: 1. It is always very cold inside so I take a jacket, even in the summer! 2. If you order to go they don't give you any chips or salsa. Ate here for the first time and really enjoyed the beef taco dinner. It brought memories of the how Mexican food was when I was a kid. The chips and salsa were crisp and flavorful. The service was excellent as it was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was very clean everywhere I could see. What happened to the food here? I overheard someone say this is the "white people's version" of Mexican food. We came for lunch. The "salsa" that came with the chips was in a squirt bottle, tasting more like catsup than anything else. It was mild beyond mild, not that I wanted a hot sauce, but come on, catsup with some spices? No. When our lunch came, I asked for queso. It tasted like watered down canned cheese. This is why I never order mac-n-cheese in other places, because canned cheese tasted weird. The queso didn't even taste like it should, nor was it creamy. Oh, and what was with the random onion in the bottom of the bowl? The taco was good, though kind of greasy. However, there was no seasoning on the meat. Instant rice is my next complaint because I wanted Mexican rice. Nope. I also didn't like the canned beans with no effort made to season them, either. Bland. Disappointed, because I ate here a long time ago, several times and always found it delicious. I guess there must be something wrong after the remodel and probably new ownership. There are plenty of other Mexican food places in town that I haven't tried yet, so I will go eat at them and see where I can find better Mexican food that is more "authentic" than this place. I'm not trying to be mean, you just aren't Mexican enough for a return visit from me. I gave you 5 stars because the register guy was disappointed that I said the food was decent. With reluctance, I said "delicious" so he would smile, but I had to lie when I said it. My entire table wasn't happy with the waitress, who was rude after we asked her to come back when we weren't ready to order, seemed put out when I asked for queso and actually sighed when we asked for a go box. Great food, interesting menu, reasonable prices and professional, friendly staff. They took care of our large party with ease.

This is still our favorite Mexican restaurant in Wichita. The food remains great and we have yet to have a server that wasn't attentive and personable. The place is always clean and definitely should not be labeled a 'hole in the wall' (although they have the proverbial good food of one. Our kids, who like most kids can be picky, get excited when we treat them here. I also appreciate how responsive the owner is here on Yelp, that is rare and shows their desire to please their customers. A new thing that I love is their rewards program.....it is a great plus and rewards you for eating there with discounts and a free meal coupon for your birthday. So far we have celebrated my wife's and son's birthday and look forward to my daughter's and mine! Pull the trigger and give it a try they will win your business :) read more

They ask EVERYONE if they want to tip when I said no the woman running the cash register loudly announced that I was not tipping.
