There was a line but the ladies work super hard to keep it moving. Wanted Barbacoa but it's only served on weekends. I ordered sausage and egg and also Mexican tacos. Added a side of potatoes. The salsa was good too. I like their green sauce. The only complaint is the parking lot is small and crowded. No complaints about the food. I've eaten here for as long as I can remember. Even before they updated it. But in the last few months something has gone really wrong. I was there Sunday morning around 9:30 or so. I always order the same thing but I can say that since reopening after Covid, the food has been tasteless. No seasoning. But to add to it, my last two visits, I've noticed that the tortillas are tough now. I went back to look at the station where the tortillas are made, and the little older lady in not there anymore. There's a different person making them. That tough tortilla messes up the already unseasoned food. I'm not a fan anymore. First staff friendly, come early not like 7 am but if you want all variety of the breakfast offerings stops at 11 when lunch rolls out, third the tacos them selves are big I mean Texas big. Sadly, just no. My family came to eat here after church and the food made us all sick. We ordered chicken tamales for the kids, and they LITERALLY spat it out. Tamales were very dry and had no flavor. The rice was undercooked. We ordered breakfast tacos, and they also made our stomachs a bit upset. We ate because we paid. Not because we enjoyed it. Went in at 2:30 pm on a Wednesday. First time customers and we were just driving by. Cafeteria, steam table order as you pass style of place where you pay at the end (think Luby's) We ordered the following Fajita Torta all the way Carne guisada taco Fajita taco Flauta plate 1 pork tamale Large watermelon water (Agua Fresca) The Torta is huge! Buttered and grilled bread loaded with all of you favorite toppings. Good flavor. Definitely recommend that. 5 Carne guisada taco was also good, with homemade tortillas (not as soft as I'm used to) but the meat is tender and with a little salt it was right on the flavor. It's the gravy kind of guisado. 3 1/2 Beef fajita taco was just ok. Nothing special at all, it's a lower cut of fajita and a little dried out so it was just ok. 2 The flauta plate came with 3 flautas, rice and beans. The flautas has the flavor but unfortunately they lacked the "crispy" texture you are used to. This could be because they are not made fresh to order and are sitting out on a steam table. The rice has no flavor but the refried beans were ok, nothing special. 3 Ordered a pork tamale to try and they gave me a chicken one by mistake so I got to try both. Chicken one is not good at all. No flavor on the chicken but at least the masa was "ok" I'm just really surprise they actually sell these because they were that bad in flavor. 0 Pork tamale is decent in flavor, just a bit dry and meat to masa ratio is way off, but that's almost expected from commercial Tamales. The masa was tasty, just dry. 2 Watermelon water was delicious 5 They were a busy little spot on a gas station strip with in and out customers as we were there, mainly men working construction, mechanics etc.. If I'm the area, I would stop by for the Torta and agua Fresca for sure but nothing else. read more

Great service, excellent food. We had several different breakfast tacos - barbacoa, potato with chorizo, juevos mexicana with barbacoa - and all were very tasty. We also got one of the stuffed jalepenos (perfection!) and a tamarindo (very very good). Will definitely return. read more

5 Star alert! Growing in north side and the heights I have always been partial to places like: Gerardo's, Laredo taqueria, Taco nazo, villaarcos, Taco nazo, and the list could go on for ever. If you like Tacos try all the places I mentioned including this one. Holy hell! These tacos are good!!! Amazing. Some of the best tacos I have ever had. This place gets packed too. As my son and I are eating. The line is getting longer and longer. The carne guisada was so tender and full of flavor. They put a different spin on It and put some really tender potatoes with It. The red beef taco was amazing as well. Kind of salty but really good and full of flavor. The Barbacoa was good as well. They actually make homemade tortillas. They are a little hard oddly enough, but good. They are not soft like the ones you will get at Alamo Taco off berry road. Forgot to mention them earlier. Another north side classic. The parking situation is kind of hard because it shares a parking lot with a great little Chinese place called Nee Hao but I really recommend you check this out! You know you've chosen the right TexMex place when the Hispanic construction workers come here to eat (based on the number of trucks w/coolers parked). There's a sign that says, "homemade tortillas" in the window. At $.35/tortilla (if you're ordering on the side), they're so good with butter! I like this place because it is VERY close to IAH, one exit away from the airport off of the Beltway. You can call your order ahead of time. Be aware you'll be asked if you want "white" (queso) or "yellow" (cheddar) cheese on your breakfast taco. I have yet to have any bad breakfast tacos, but they range anywhere from $1.25 to $2. My favorites are the spicy potato (no meat, but the potatoes are soooo good) and chorizo, egg, and cheese. Based on the breakfast tacos alone, I would give four stars. However, I did order the enchiladas ahead of time once, and I was sorely disappointed. I was imagining enchiladas dredged in oozing cheese, but instead, when I opened the to-go container at the airport (didn't have time to check before I left), there were flautas in my to-go container. Everything was placed as if I had ordered enchiladas, so I was very confused. The "enchiladas" were really hard and not very good. Based on this experience, I would give two stars. So, I averaged for a three star rating. Stick to the breakfast tacos. I can eat 2.5 tacos, and then I am stuffed. Happy eating! read more

Teleworking has prevented me from visiting this wonderful hole-in-wall restaurant as regularly as I like, but whenever I'm headed to the office this is my go to spot for the best breakfast tacos in northeast Houston. You can choose corn or flour tortillas, usually 3 or 4 fillings mixed with eggs (potato & egg, chorizo & egg, etc) plus pork, chicken and beef fillings. Not many reviewers mention their fresh juices but they would stand alone if it was just a juice bar. Fresh melon, strawberry, banana... Different selections daily and all phenomenal. They will even mix them if you ask. They are pricey (around $3.50 for a large) but here is a hint: get a refill for only $1 :-) A local friend brought me here and I am glad he did... The best and only authentic Mexican food I have eaten to date. A must go to place if your in Houston. Little hole in the wall place with awesome food. Kinda hard to spot when looking for this place it's behind a gas station in a small strip mall. Packed out during breakfast. They also sell fresh tortillas to go by the dozens. Mine were pulled hot off the grill, wrapped up and ready to go. I will be making some tacos with these asap. All in all a great place. Just point at what you want if you don't speak Spanish. I ate 3 different tacos don't know what you call them in Spanish but they were awesome. One was a potato and maybe chorizo. One was a sausage and peppers some other things in it. If you are familiar with Taqueria Laredo on Washington, the ordering procedure is somewhat similar, so please don't hold up the line. That being said, there were a couple of taco fillings that were difficult to identify, so ask the servers quickly! But before it's your turn to order, peek in the back, the ladies there make both corn and flour tortillas by hand and you can taste the freshness! My favorite fillings so far are the egg & chorizo, egg & sausage, and weenie & veggies (strange I know). The salsas on the table are really good and pack quite a kick.
