As someone that would not consider Mexican food at the top of my go to restaurants, I still enjoy a good taco. El Mezcal gives me just that! (Plus free chips and dip, which should be a given) I have been to several Mexican restaurants in Little Rock, both upscale and not, and this place may be my favorite. Parking is fairly simple with street parking, or the big Kroger lot next door. The ambiance of the place has the authentic feel of a traditional Mexican spot without trying to doll everything up. My friends and I stopped by during our lunch break and were seated immediately. They are known for their good drinks and I could tell why with an extensive drink menu. I went with their Mexican tacos that comes with your choice of four tacos (roughly $3 a piece) and salsa. They have an assortment of meats that you can split into 2 and 2 or just get all four of the same. The tacos were probably one of the best I've had in Little Rock. My friends who also ordered some agreed as well. Altogether, we were in and out within a hour, which was great for a quick lunch break. The convenience and value of this place can't really be beat.

Service was good. Restaurant was nice inside. Drinks are good, especially margaritas. The salsa was bland, but spicy. The Mexican rice was also bland. The refried beans, shredded chicken quesadilla, & cheese dip were tasty. Tex Mex like On The Border is definitely better than this. Just my opinion......I'll probably only come back for drinks only. That's it.

Very authentic vibe. Salsa is on point. Get a large margarita while you wait on that food. Awesome stuff.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! Food, Service, Prices, the best! Had the shrimp fajitas with a beer. Inflation has barely touched this place and I HIGHLY recommend stopping by if you're in the mood for Mexican food.

Experience was great for takeout. While I didn't call ahead, my lunch was quickly prepared.

Awful service and my small group was charged for the chips. $18 for chicken and rice with veggies. Vegetables tasted fresh at least.

We'd barely been seated 2 minutes before our server approached. "Can I start you off with some…read moreCheese Dip?" he cheerfully asked. Melting Pot Cheese Dip ($9), a food I don't recall ever previously experiencing, is said to have been invented in Arkansas and is considered an important part of Arkansas food culture. It's Tex-Mex-adjacent but closer to some delicious version of Cheese Whiz than Queso Fundido. Strewn with a liberal application of jalapeños and served with a big basket of fresh tortilla chips, this is the best way to start any meal but certainly the only way to start a meal here. We followed with Fish Fry Tacos (2 for $16.50), equally fresh, unique, and satisfying and not the type of fish tacos for which San Diego is known. Accompanied by your choice of 2 sides, I loved the "Smashed Smoky Pinto Beans" and was transfixed by the fresh flavors found in the "Tomato, Cucumber, and Mint Salad". Heights Taco & Tamale features lively decor in a space that's a joy to dine in with food that makes things even better. Who knew that Arkansas had its own spin on Tex-Mex food? I'm now a rabid fan of Ark-Mex food.

I want so badly to like this place but they make it so hard…read more It's really close to the house but every time we go it's...meh. Last time my margarita didn't come until after the food. Server blamed the bartender. Bartender blamed the server, then said, "I'll speak to your server". Sugar, I don't want you to speak to my server. I just want you to mix my skinny Margarita in a glass with Tajin® on the rim- cuz Ima skinny little westside bitch- hand it to my server and send it my way. No speaking required. They have no carnitas. They have no machaca. And that tells you the whole story. I always get the Plato 47- but why? The plate looks beautiful, but visual joy doesn't carry you through. I take a couple of bites of taco, and it's just kind of bland. Same with the tamale- just not very tasty. Same with everything else, except the Margies. They are good. Let me tell you, it's a sad day when I leave more than half the food on the plate. Disclaimer: I do live in LA, and we know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like, but the food here is only photo-perfect. Did ICE carry all your Mexicans away or what? Oh yeah, BTW: #FuckICE #ChingaTuMaga
