We happened upon this place as they're open later than others, and their macho chimichangas are some of our favorite food items in Little Rock. Their chips are obviously house made and fresh every time, and their cheese dip is thick and nice, my only complaint is that it hardens quick as it cools. Unlike the Casa Manana, out on West Cantrell, this restaurant is crowded close with tables, and I found their staff a bit arrogant and certainly uninformed about the law. If you have a registered Service Dog, (we have a small one for my wife with dementia) ,they won't let you bring it into the restaurant. That is clearly against the law , and I have considered notifying the Health Department about that.... In fact, over our 5 years of having a Service Dog, and traveling across many states from CA to Maine, they are the FIRST restaurant to not admit our dog, even with her Service Dog vest on. So, if you have one, don't bring it, and there are numerous other restaurants that serve rally good Mexican food and abide by the law.. and you can bring your Service Dog! read more

We honestly didn't even know this was a restaurant until I found it on yelp... and boy am I happy that I did!!! This was a hidden gem of Mexican food for us. I've been here a couple of times now and the food always has me leaving better than when I came. The spot is relaxed and accommodating. I tried mole for the first time here and was glad that I did as it was delicious. My shrimp tacos left a bit to be desired as they literally brought me shrimp and tortillas but nothing to dress the tacos. However, the friendly fellowship made up for that little snafu. The back porch is cheerier when the weather is nice and I'm happy they've banned smoking out there. I get take-out from here more than I dine in. The chips and cheese dip are just excellent. I go here quite a bit and the best part of this place is the deck. I'm a vegan and I never have any problems ordering and finding selections that suit a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. Their salsa is definitely the best in town. It's spicy and has lots of fresh cilantro in it. The chips are thick and homemade and always hot. The guacamole is, again, one of the best in town. It has huge, plentiful chunks of avocado with plenty of cilantro. On Sundays, my boyfriend and I like to go and sit on the deck, which overlooks a nice wooded area, and have very spicy and potent Bloody Marys and get one of their egg dishes. I got the huevos rancheros last time and the fried egg on top was exactly the way it should be, with a soft and runny yolk. I can't remember what my boyfriend had, but I do remember he ate all of it. I had been craving Casa Manana since my women friends had our monthly girls' night here recently, but I was unable to attend. They had so much fun with their pitchers of margaritas and guacamole, I wanted my own! My husband and I stopped in here today (Memorial Day) after seeing a couple movies, because it was hot and I wanted a margarita (or two). We opted for indoor seating as the temperatures were in the 90s, but we will definitely try the deck in the future. The inside feels like such a neighborhood Mexican "joint." The service is good, the interior is dark and cool, and we even ran into some people we know! I had two delicious frozen margaritas, and my husband had a Dos Equis on tap, nice and cold. He had a cup of the tortilla soup, which he enjoyed. I ordered the "large" order of guacamole to share, and it was huge! It takes a little longer when you order it because the menu says they make it only when it's ordered. It certainly tastes fresh, with plenty of tomatoes and a little bite and tons of cheese on the top. The chips here are GREAT, light and fresh and crispy. I've had other food on the menu, and have always enjoyed it. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Little Rock. read more

Came in on a Saturday morning for breakfast and it was pretty slow. Service was really good and I was able to order off the lunch menu even though it was an hour before the printed lunch time on the menu. My fajitas were flavorful and not skimpy on the meat. I've been going to Casa Manana almost every visit back to Little Rock, as it's a favorite of a friend. The chips are more authentic and the red salsa is good. I wish they had roasted salsa but know that's more of a challenge to prepare. Service is very friendly. This past visit I had a beef enchilada and tamale plate. The enchilada wasn't spectacular but the tamale was great. Plenty of filling and the right balance of masa. I trust G's judgment when it comes to Mexican food and he suggested we come here as he thought this was the best place for Mexican food in Little Rock when he lived here. HUGE menu, prompt service/seating (outdoor too), inexpensive, what more could I want? Well... Plate of guacamole, served on some shredded lettuce (weird, right? Wrong, it was perfect). We requested it w/o tomatoes and it came that way(!) The guac was freshly made, chunky, a little spicy from jalapenos and topped with cotija cheese. I'd never had guacamole with cotija cheese, so I was skeptical. The verdict? Delicious. Try not to binge on the appetizers though, you'll want to save room for your entree. We both had cheese enchiladas and enjoyed them--just the right size, not gigantic, a little sloppy; just the way I like 'em. The portions are rather large, so bring your appetite. My boyfriend and I were in the mood for Mexican food, so we decided to check out Casa Manana. In the immortal words of Julia Roberts, BIG mistake. HUGE. We ordered chips and queso to start, along with the salsa served for free. The queso was good, I'll give them that. Very cheesy and rich, with pico de gallo in the middle. I usually dip my chip in queso, then salsa, so it saved me a step. However, the salsa was peppery and bland. When I say "peppery," I mean that was the overwhelming spice in the salsa. Very odd. Also odd, the chips were extremely thick. Not light and crispy, and not just substantial enough to hold onto the dip; I'm talking an inch thick and crumbled everywhere the moment I bit into it. They were also greasy and frankly not very good. The real complaint I have was with the main course. My boyfriend ordered a Ranchero meal, which must be Spanish for "a plate of melted cheese." He tried to find another ingredient besides cheese and tortillas on the plate with very little luck; there was, in fact, some beef in there, but he had to go searching for it. He ordered the meal with cheese sauce instead of red sauce, which was $1.99 (ridiculous). I suppose to look on the bright side, one might say he got the cheese he ordered. If he'd only been hungry for cheese, that might have been okay, but he wanted an actual plate of food. No luck. My meal was literally the most disgusting meal I've ever eaten at a restaurant in my life, and I am not a picky person. I ordered the shredded beef chimichanga. It said it came topped with red sauce and guacamole. I too went for the cheese sauce (another $1.99) instead of the red sauce and assumed the guacamole, which isn't my favorite food, would be dolloped on top and easy to scrape off and eat with a chip. What I got instead were two sad burritos (does it even COUNT as a chimichanga if they aren't fried? Because if these were, they must have dropped them in the frier and taken them right out) COVERED in a revolting green guacamole puree. It smelled rancid and tasted like pond scum (yes, I've tasted pond scum, don't ask). I tried scraping it off, but there was just too much of it. The beef inside managed to be both chewy and sopping wet with beef juice. The beans were a sad, gray blob and the rice was bland. I did not eat the meal, and didn't want to order anything else, having seen the caliber of my boyfriend's meal and assuming I'd have no better luck with a different entree. Perhaps they were having a bad night, because the other reviews here seem to be very positive. All I know is, first impressions count and I will not be back. read more
