A lovely un spoilt area on the non-touristy side of Cozumel. We were told by a local that there are no houses or homes on this side of the island as it gets hit by hurricanes frequently. Therefore this side of the island is rugged and un spoilt, definitely worthy of a trip.

We had a day driving around the island of Cozumel. Located along the island's eastern coast beaches, this place is definitely worth a stop. It is basically a lookout point where a mass of rocks stick out into the ocean. There is a Mexican flag too that has planted there for some nice photo ops. You will also see some small shops nearby too for souvenirs and drinks. The east coast of Cozumel is relatively bare, but this one of the places that stands out.

Loosely meaning "The Lookout", El Mirador is reputedly where Cortez made his first touchdown in Mexico. While that legacy is true or not, El Mirador is certainly a beautiful sightseeing destination that no Cozumel tourist should miss! As a stop of my cruise excursion, El Mirador was a surprise to me because of its stunning beauty. Although I am shamefully not a man who can appreciate nature, even I was moved by this coastline. You can simply stand and admire the amount of blue from the waters and the sky or take multiple photos and find that no shot is the same because of the waves. If you are brave, embark on the small holey hills that used to be underwater and take in the higher view. As Dock C. has said, if it weren't the for the heat, this would a place that you can easily lose yourself in how beautiful nature can be. If you are visiting Cozumel, make sure you get an excursion or plan your own trip to visit and admire this true beauty!

I know that this is going to be from the perspective of a foreigner, but El Mirador was the best part of the beach that I saw in Cozumel! The locals might not think too much of this place, but I loved this stop of our tour and would probably have stayed around longer if it weren't for the heat and all the upcoming sights along the way. There were four things about El Mirador that made it particularly stand out during the tour: the beach, the shops, the iguana, and the coconuts. The beach is certainly a scenic sight to behold, but beware as it consists of many uneven rocks. You don't want to twist an ankle or fall into one of those holes! The rocks rise at one point to form a cliff overlooking the ocean, and you definitely want to get a picture of this astonishing view. The sand of the beach is smoother and more even of course. It also appears to host some interesting living organisms. The shops are tiny but host a massive array of shell necklaces and other souvenirs. I'm kind of surprised that they were able to cram all these little trinkets into such a small space. Though I did not buy any of these gifts, I think this would be a really great place to buy stuff if you want to take something from the island back to your home. The iguana here was absolutely fascinating. There is a guy here who will let you hold his pet iguana and take pictures with it; of course, he expects a tip for this service. The iguana is pretty big and weighs about seven or eight pounds. Holding it from below, I mostly felt its ribcage and body heat. Don't worry about diseases; the animal is clean and I saw the guy even kiss the iguana. He also draped a tiny gecko on top of my head for the picture. I washed my hands in the ocean afterward just to be safe. Finally, we have the snacks. These consist of chips, bananas, and coconuts that you can buy. If you buy a coconut, one of the guys will use a machete to chop off an end of the fruit for you so you can sip out the milk through a straw. The coconut juice actually does not taste bad, although the quantity of the juice is surprisingly limited considering the volume of the coconut. If you ask, you can even have them chop the coconut up into edible bite-size slices to go in a plastic cup. This was a thoroughly cool experience that made an already wonderful vacation even better!

When we got off the ship there was a line of taxis ready to go and the ride cost $20 for two people one way. When we arrived, the staff greeted us and guided us to the front desk where we checked in for our reservation. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time because it definitely helps expedite your entrance. One thing worth noting is that when we booked online it didn't show cabanas available, but when we arrived the host checked and was able to get us into one. I highly recommend getting a cabana if one is available because it gives you a nice private area to relax. That said, there are also plenty of tables with covered umbrellas that provide shade from the sun. What really stood out about this place was the level of service. It was incredibly attentive. I honestly don't think we ever waited more than a few minutes before someone came by asking if we needed another drink or more food. Our servers were Juan and Pops/Eric and both of them were fantastic. It felt like every time I turned my head one of them was checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. They offer all-inclusive food and you can either go up to the buffet or order directly from the menu and have it delivered to your table or cabana. The property also has multiple pools, massage services, swim-up areas, and gift shops around the resort. At one point what appeared to be a manager came by and asked how we heard about the place and checked in on how our experience was going. That really reinforced how focused they are on service. The location is right on the beach so you get beautiful ocean views while enjoying unlimited food and drinks throughout the day. Overall Mr. Sancho's delivers a great beach day experience with excellent service and it's definitely a place I would visit again when returning to Cozumel.

Cozumel Day at Paradise Beach…read more We booked the all-inclusive day pass through Viator and saved 10%, and honestly... anytime I can save a little money, I will. Quick tip for anyone going: when you walk out of the port and head to the taxi line, don't just jump into the first one. Our first driver tried to upcharge us quite a bit. We kept walking and were able to negotiate. I had heard it's usually around $15 per ride (not per person), but we ended up paying $20 -- and honestly it's a bit of a drive, so I get it. Also... those taxi drivers drive like we're in GTA. Once we arrived, the vibe was totally peaceful. Yes, the chairs are fairly close together (similar setup to Mr. Sanchos), but Paradise Beach felt much calmer and less of a party scene, which we really appreciated. The food and drinks were actually really good for an all-inclusive beach club. We tried quite a few things: * Nachos * Quesadillas * Blue cheese burger * Grilled shrimp * Coconut shrimp * Grilled mahi tacos -- which were the highlight The beach was nice, the pool was great, and you basically pick your "home base" (pool or beach) so your waiter knows where to find you for food and drinks. A few other things worth noting: Great bathrooms and changing rooms Lockers available (extra fee) Inflatable water park for kids (extra fee) Paddleboards and snorkeling (extra fee) Would I go again? Yes.

Their tone came across as aggressive and somewhat rude, which was surprising, but we assured them it wasn't an issue since we planned to order food and drinks anyway. Still, their approach left a sour first impression. This used to be our favorite spot 12 years ago when it was open to the public and free to enter. Back then, ordering food and drinks was optional, but the place has since changed under the ownership of Landmark Corp. Public access is no longer allowed without meeting their requirements or paying a fee. There are a few important things to note: sunscreen is not allowed, and there is no lifeguard on duty, so swimming and snorkeling are entirely at your own risk. The menu now caters primarily to tourists, featuring westernized dishes with a touch of Mexican cuisine. Prices are similar to what you'd find in the U.S., which is expected for a tourist destination. Cruise ships frequently drop off passengers here, so lounge chairs tend to fill up quickly until they leave. Additionally, paying by credit card incurs a transaction fee, so using pesos is the better option. If I hadn't come with my kids--and if visiting the Money Bar wasn't the main reason for our trip to Cozumel--I might have walked away. This place holds so many special memories from when we were single and used to travel to Mexico often, but the changes have made it feel far less welcoming than it once was.
