Came here to access the beach. Minimum requirement to spend a food and a drink per person to use their amenities and to use the beach, kinda ripoff policy but this is what you get most of the places around Cancun, Tulum, and Cozumel. Kinda figure out if you cannot beat the system then go along with it. The food and service is alright at this place. There are some waves and current at the beach, kinda have to put some effort to swim and to snorkle in here. I would say this isnt the best place to enjoy the beach. If you go down more to the south you may find better beach, say Playa Palancar ; ) So, next time skip this place and go down more south ; ) read more

We arrived around 11 a.m. and were greeted by staff who immediately asked if we had reservations. When we told them we didn't, they informed us that we would be charged $20 per person--including children--to use the chairs and showers unless we ordered both food and drinks for each person. Their tone came across as aggressive and somewhat rude, which was surprising, but we assured them it wasn't an issue since we planned to order food and drinks anyway. Still, their approach left a sour first impression. This used to be our favorite spot 12 years ago when it was open to the public and free to enter. Back then, ordering food and drinks was optional, but the place has since changed under the ownership of Landmark Corp. Public access is no longer allowed without meeting their requirements or paying a fee. There are a few important things to note: sunscreen is not allowed, and there is no lifeguard on duty, so swimming and snorkeling are entirely at your own risk. The menu now caters primarily to tourists, featuring westernized dishes with a touch of Mexican cuisine. Prices are similar to what you'd find in the U.S., which is expected for a tourist destination. Cruise ships frequently drop off passengers here, so lounge chairs tend to fill up quickly until they leave. Additionally, paying by credit card incurs a transaction fee, so using pesos is the better option. If I hadn't come with my kids--and if visiting the Money Bar wasn't the main reason for our trip to Cozumel--I might have walked away. This place holds so many special memories from when we were single and used to travel to Mexico often, but the changes have made it feel far less welcoming than it once was. read more

So this my last stop on my tour around the island, and I definitely think that everyone should check it out at least once. The setting is charming, an open-air retreat that is sure to please one and all. We had some pretty delicious blue margaritas, and a series of appetizers, but my favorite was the jalapeño poppers, which were delicate and cheesy delicious. My family and I stayed at the Landmark Resort across the street, so visiting the Money Bar was a daily affair. The food and drinks are all great, but there are a handful of things on the menu I highly recommend: First, the grilled shrimp, which is butterflied and grilled in the shell to maintain its flavor. Next, the chicken alfredo pasta--I know it's odd to order alfredo on an island, but The Money Bar's is exceptionally good. Also, the happy hour here is insane. They give out two drinks for the price of one! And they have live music Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, and the band that plays (El Fuego) is really good. Lastly, the snorkeling out front is so good. Stick close to the shore and head North and you'll hit a spot called the nursery where there are ample baby fish. We saw stingrays, eels, trunk fish, and more while out snorkeling this spot. read more

Service was slow and it was at 10% capacity. The shrimp were cold, over cooked and rubbery. The octopus said FRIED on the menu and came out not fries and they sent a manager over rudely asking, what's my problem. He discounted it by 20%. We didn't eat any of it. The night before we had amazing food for 1/3 of the cost. DO NOT waste your time or money at this place. Such a tourist trap! Views were beautiful but you can get that anyway in Cozumel. Loved this place. Relatively easy in and out of the water, crystal clear water, lots of fish in chest deep water. Easy taxi ride from the port (13 USD there, 16 back) friendly staff too. Loved the fish tacos and the fries were good. If you order food they let you use the chairs. They have breakfast and lunch/ dinner. There was someone set up for massages too. Mask is mandatory. Let's start with that. So make sure you bring one to enter. Food was good to me. I had the veggie fajitas. And lemonade. There are different stairs to snorkel once you are here. The water was choppy when I went so it was kinda rough. But you can see a lot of sea creatures. You can get really far out to see some sea creatures if you are a good swimmer. There are rentals if you don't bring your own gear. Overall it's a must stop for anyone who comes to this island and drives down the west side. read more

I didn't eat or drink at Money Bar, but we stumbled across it while riding electric bikes, and we fell in love with Dzul-Ha. (Pronounced Zool-Ha). The beach was simple but attractive and easy to access. How easy? Stairs and a handrail easy. You'll need the handrail because the rocks are slippery, but soon you will be in clear, clean, and peaceful water, walking in a rocky (not sandy) area that is shallow for likely 50 feet out, with not many things like urchins to avoid stepping on. With friends like these, who needs anemones? It raining while I was in the water was probably the coolest memory I've made in years. The appeal to the place is that it feels private and underused, and you don't need a boat or tour, but I have to say that the sea life wasn't that impressive. I saw a rando fish here and there. The exceptions were when I found a school of skeptical fish near a reef or structure. And when I intentionally brought in and opened a bag of Fritos so that they fish would come and feed around us. I don't think Fritos are part of their natural diet, but fish like Fritos. In fact, it's how the dorados got their name. Cool ranch dorados. read more

We came here on recommendation from our Dive Master for lunch and snorkeling. Having been coming to Cozumel 20+ years, we've been to almost all the beach clubs. This one was the first for us, convenient for us, minutes away from our hotel, right across from the Fiesta Americana with parking. Since we are divers so we had our own mask, fins, snorkel, no need for us to rent. We started with lunch, service was good, very attentive. We ordered the Hot Dog, 1 steak quesadilla and 2 chicken quesadillas and a few beers. When the food came I noted the portions were huge. We could of definitely shared 2 quesadillas among 3 adults. Beers were cold and the food was good. Now for the snorkeling, there is a big pier to go off of. The week we were there the currants were extremely strong diving and snorkeling. With that said the fish and ocean life weren't hanging out to be seen, so there was not a lot to see. I've read peoples reviews on lack of fish to see, but I only assume that is due to the currant, but then again I've only been here once. I can understand the frustration if you had rented equipment, but in our case nothing loss because we had our own. I never book excursions with the cruise ship. Instead I go on trip advisor and I plan my own port adventure. After the exploring we did in Belize and Honduras I was ready for snorkeling. Since my parents were with us and weren't in the mood for getting wet, I decided i had to snorkel off shore. The Money Bar was perfect for my whole family. We were sat immediately. All seating is right on the water. We let our server know my son and I wanted to snorkel, but needed to rent equipment. The server came back with the snorkel rental attendant on site right and he hooked us up with our flippers, snorkel, mask and life jackets one for an adult and one for a kid for $10 a piece. No time limit, jut leave your ID or cruise card. If you have your own stuff you can snorkel for free if you are a Money Bar patron. There's a makeshift stairway to get into the water. This is all reef, no sand so it was perfect for snorkeling. As soon as we looked down there was tropical fish all over the place! As we swam out there were all types of artificial reef things underwater for the fish. The whole area to snorkel in is roped off so boaters don't come in leaving us with a pleasant experience. On shore my family was enjoying the view and drinking their tropical drinks and dos xx beer. My daughter took a picture with a parrot on her shoulder and had it framed in a Cozumel souvenir frame from the same vendor. That was the only vendor that solicited us there, unlike in Costa Maya. The picture turned out great. We ordered octopus ceviche, guac and pico de gallo. All pretty good, bit the octopus ceviche was our fave. It's very easy to get a cab ride fro the cruise port. Since there were 6 of us the cab ride in a van was a bit more than what the normal rate is because we were over 4 people. We paid $22 for all of us. We wanted to go shopping afterward, so we stayed about 3 hours, but they would've let us stay as long as we wanted. We had a great time on our terms and didn't spend a fortune. read more

We came here our first night in Mexico-one of our fellow guests at the housing development/resort told us they have 2 for 1 drinks at happy hour! And-they did! Service was great-the waiter made sure we got our 2-1 drink orders in before happy hour ended. They had a fun band playing and a couple of break dancers out on the floor! So that was fun to watch. The charter company we used has dropped off there for years. They lost our business from now on. Food is not authentic and it is overpriced for Cozumel. This place got popular because you could eat here and then you could use their pier to be picked up for dives. That is no longer true; the new management does not allow their pier to be used and they are very nasty about it. I was just asking them a question about it and why it changed, the security guard responded to me and called me a pendejo. read more

Awesome place to snorkel! The staff are super accommodating. We took a taxi from the Carnival cruise terminal. As soon as we arrived they offered us food and drink. We chose to snorkel first. When we came out of the water, they were there to take our order. My wife had a difficult time choosing among the many great offerings, so our server came back three times. When the food arrived, it was a large portion and delicious. Our server didn't interrupt us while we were eating as most do. Food was ok, nothing great. They had happy hour and music which was nice but the service was horrible. We had to get up and find someone to order every drink and our dinner. Then we had to hunt them down to pay the bill. As I was paying with credit card the lady helping me kept telling me to add a tip. I said I have cash for that but didn't know who to give it to because no one really helped us. She just shrugged her shoulders and kept saying, tip. I finally showed her my cash and said, I will leave a tip because it's the right thing to do but I don't know who to give it to because we had to find a different person each time to order something. Unfortunately this place was a let down. My husband and I came here mainly to snorkel. I guess the way it works here is you can snorkel and use the rinse off station, but it's expected (understandably) that you get something to eat or drink afterward. We did just that. Our drinks were heavy on water and ice and low on alcohol. I had to ask for more and even then they didn't come back very potent. The food was arguably worse. My chicken fingers were tough and stringy; my husband's burger was far from tasty. If you are just looking for some place to snorkel/swim/lay out and you just want shots, you'd leave happy.
