If you are ever traveling south on hwy 99 thru Tulare/visalia area make sure you stop here for lunch!!!!! Omg the Food is GREAT!!!! Service was fast and friendly. I had the chile verde with the flour tortillas and it took me back to my childhood when mom would cook this exact dish!!!! We came in on a Sunday around 10am, it was busy but we were seated quickly. This is a hidden gem in Tulare- a little further away from the city and right off the 99, especially if you are going southbound. Upon being seated, it was evident the menudo was the popular item. They offer a small and big size, and let me tell you the small size is enough- however i might be a little bias because i had pancake too. The menudo is red and they offer homemade tortillas- we had the corn tortilla.(personal opinion- flour tortillas and menudo are an odd combination) The menudo was delicious-I had it with hominy(i opted out of the pata) i highly highly recommend the menudo. I hate to leave a 2 star because customers service here is amazing!!!, but the food portions, and taste is lacking. My mom ordered the 2 taco dinner plate and her shells looked like they came from a box, they were like Taco Bell tacos. The burrito plate I ordered looks amazing but the inside I believe is mixed with Chorizo, and I had no idea. The taste needs more, so I added some salt and the salsa they serve with the chips. I was driving through the area and was stopping to meet a friend. I asked to meet at the best breakfast place in the area, so he told me to meet him at Ana's. It was right off the 99 and just had a cool look and vibe to it. The menu was varied with lots of options. I saw the magic words, Chili Colorado. Better than that, Chili Colorado con Huevos. I was all in! While we were waiting for our orders to come out, I couldn't help but notice the dishes being delivered to other tables. Everything looked great, and I wished I had ordered that. Common problem at the better places. Our food arrived nice and hot, with amazing aromas. I dug in immediately and was greatly rewarded. Everything was perfect from the eggs to the beans and rice. The Chili Colorado was a little spicier than this Pacific Northwest boy was used to, but it wasn't overly spiced. I normalized to it quickly and enjoyed the heat it brought. Would totally give this place 5 stars had they actually had customer service. The girl we had was not very pleasant. Not once did she come and check on us. Having to go up to another waitress to ask for something defeats the purpose of coming out to eat. They definitely don't skimp on portions a very good bang for you buck here. Food is decent not amazing. The ambiance is loud and I wish they had something at the door to stop the flies from coming in. All in all I probably would not come back to eat here but I hope you get better customer service than we did. read more

When someone invites me for lunch or dinner to a new place I get really nervous especially Mexican food because I am a hard core critic of Mexican restaurants. Like any good Yelper, I looked at pictures, glanced at the menu, and read the reviews as soon as I found out where my Tulare family wanted to dine on a Sunday afternoon. I admit I was skeptical at first, but as the chips and guacamole came out I was a bit more at ease. The vuelva la vida came out and I had a bite of it and it made me say mmmmmmm. They are not stingy with the avocado btw. My main dish was the tilapia a la diabla and let me tell you, it was delicious. The sauce was smoky, spicy, and flavorful; exactly what I expected. The sides were a bit bland, but I was there for fish and they delivered. Service was a bit iffy at first but as time passed it got much better. They had just been swamped prior to our arrival and we're still recovering from what our server told us. The place itself is a bit run down, but sometimes that's what make the place honestly. I would definitely return here during the next roundabout in Tulare since it's right off the freeway. read more

I have been here once before. but just had a cup of coffee. Was looking for a place to have a launch date at. I decided this was the perfect place for it between Visalia & Tipton. Got there about 1130 before the lunch rush. Was greeted right away and had our drink order taken promptly. I wanted the chili rellenos, but they were out of them. o i ended up with their carnitas plate. The carnitas were full of flavor and honestly some of the best ones I've had for quite some time. They tasted fresh and seasoned just right. My date had two carne asada tacos and they were just regular tacos nothing too exciting to right home about, but yet still good. We travel around the country full-time in our RV and Mexican food is one of our favs so we've eaten at Mexican restaurants all over. At Ana's, We ordered cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. This did not taste like any Mexican food we've ever had. The rice was basically white rice with very little flavor and we didn't like the taste of the enchiladas at all. It tasted like it had some Indian spices, which, unfortunately, we don't like at all. I took one bite and had to throw the rest away! I would not recommend this food at all. read more

Ana's get 3 stars because I've had good and bad service. I will say they have the best menudo in town. It has a fresh crisp taste. Other places the menudo has this strange smell and very bad nauseating aftertaste. Coffee is very good as well. Have patience with the waitresses because them ladies are non stop. On the down side waiting on food can take up to 45+ minutes so if you want a quick bite or you are getting hangry this is not the place for you. My complaint is the first two times I went for menudo it was luke warm. Menudo should be served hot. I asked if it could be reheated and it still did not come back hot. That was on two occasions but lately it's been piping hot. I only ever order menudo my husband is more adventurous and will try different plates and they always look amazing and he tells me the food is really good. The food is delicious, I've eaten here several times when I ride along with my hubby on the semi. They have some truck parking for truckers. The inside is big but cozy, the waiters are very nice and super attentive although there are times when you wait for drink refills but tbh the food makes it all worth it. The menudo is delicious and flavorful, the Jamaica water was a little too strong for my taste, but I added a little bit of water to water it down and it was perfect. To make the long story short, everytime I've returned to Ana's I try something new and I haven't been disappointed yet! read more
