I was in the area and Mexican is my go-to. I decided to give this place a try. The pricing is very reasonable and in today's world of high costs, it was very welcome. I ordered the Birria, and a glass of water. I sat down and it was a pleasant surprise that she brought out chips and salsa. Also brought out hot salsa and salsa cremosa. The food was plentiful and the taste was good. I know there are better Birria options out there but I demolished my plate in its entirety with no problem. We had a large order with many different items. The shredded chicken on the chicken nachos was watery and unappetizing. The kids chicken quesadillas was large chunks of chicken meat on a tortilla and nothing else. Very disappointing. read more

The people were super nice. The food, however, was nothing to write home about. Three stars are given for the cashier's and the taco. The birria was super sad, it looked amazing, it lacked flavor, even the consumè had no flavor. So very sad. Updating my review from 5 to 4 stars. Unfortunately they got my order wrong today. I very clearly said hard shell over the phone, and repeated myself, but there was a lot of noise in the kitchen so maybe she heard me wrong. I'm allergic to gluten and they gave me soft shell tacos instead so unfortunately I can't eat them. Oh well. Their food is still good. We ordered food for the family to go from their website from El Monte Fresh Mexican food. The mainly serve your typical Americanized style Mexican food that we all know, but do have a few authentic items like Menudo. I ordered Birria tacos. They were very good. I ordered the tacos. It comes with 3 tacos and a side of beans. I chose steak, carnitas, and al pastor. The tacos were ok. I've had better. However, the al pastor had the most flavor out of the three. The tacos were good in size. I enjoyed the sauces it came with, a red hot and creamy jalapeño. I didn't expect them to be spicy but they were. I asked for no beans but they were able to sub it for a side of rice. They are very friendly and prices are reasonable. read more

They also have a drive thru, which is pretty fast considering the food is so fresh. When I drive away, I have no doubts that my favorite sauce is in my bag. There aren't a lot of decent food options on the north side of town. El Monte is solid, restaurant quality Mexican food. The food has always been consistent whenever I've been there. Having a drive thru is a plus for this establishment, since I often pickup on the way home from work. I admit I've never eaten inside the restaurant, since the drive thru is convenient. The staff has always been very friendly and appreciative. I recommend the taco salad and chimichanga, but everything else has been good too. My only area for improvement would be to make sure the tortilla chips are fresh. From what I've seen at many restaurants, they'll bag a bunch of tortilla chips for takeout orders, I'm guessing early in the day. However, after a few hours they begin to taste stale. I'm sure there are remedies for that, but I have no reason to stop frequenting El Monte. read more

I am so super stoked about this place opening up! It's so close to me and very very fast service it was unbelievable! Don't be deceived by this place because it has a drive-thru window, that's simply for your convenience! I've gotten better food from here than I have any mexican sit-down restaurant anywhere. And not only that, they serve up street tacos too! They have awesome express lunch specials, daily specials, and good pricing all around. Our food was phenomenal and fresh. I ordered a chicken cheese and rice plate and they were so generous with the queso, I was pleasantly surprised. I also was offered corn or flour tortillas and the corn tortillas I got were phenomenal. They're the kind you can just smell and tell theyre homemade/authentic. So yummy! My boyfriend got the Jalisco fajita quesadilla (shrimp steak and chicken) and he said it was delicious. His favorite part though was the rice as the side for the dish because he said it was the best he's ever had. Normally we don't eat the chips and salsa when we order takeout cause the chips taste stale and old and salsa isn't impressive, but this place had us wrong again! The chips were delicious and the salsa was so fresh and yummy you could even taste the cilantro! When the man at the front desk took my order he was very patient and explained the whole menu for me, recommended things, and even told me about the student discount they offer to MTSU students! 10%! :) I will definitely be coming back here for all of my Mexican food cravings read more

We eat here at least once a week. We go through the drive-thru and our order has always been hit, fresh and correct! We honestly have been back to Camino since El Monte opened. We've had almost everything on the menu and haven't found anything we didn't like. Give it a try!!! read more

The mains were flavorless for the most part; so much lettuce for the nachos and the ground beef is texture over flavor... The best thing was maybe the chips, salsa, and queso. All tasted mediocre. Steak street Tacos are soooooo good! Wish would add radish slices. Of only they would offer Mexican street corn, that would be awesome. Not a fan of the thick Chips and terrible can salsa , that could be more authentic and fresher. My husband enjoys the burritos as well. The kids love the quesadillas . My daughter and I used the drive-thru to order for the first time. We got the Burrito Real, a chicken taco, a beef taco, two sodas (thank you for serving Coca Cola products!!) and the order included salsa and a bag of chips. Everything was SO delicious and SO fresh. This place is good for a drive thru Mexican restaurant. I've been a couple times. The food is typically soggy when I receive it. The last time I went, it was literally like the quesadilla was soaking wet. However my boyfriend always enjoys his food. It's also a little annoying that things such as sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, stuff like that; it's a DOLLAR EACH. I think that's a little extreme if I want that on my quesadilla. Disappointing, got food from here last week for first time, it was great! Husband said some of best "shrimp tacos" he's had. Well... tried to order carry out tonight kept calling & calling, finally got through only to be hung up on! Tried again, finally for their again &phone was answered again & apparently put down & left there unanswered- could hear noises in background but no one ever came back to phone! Sheesh I know it was Cinco de Mayo & they were busy but hey, hang-up on people - twice - not cool! So get to the store & share story get a very dismissive sorry from manager, young lady working front somehow manager said was who answered the phones very dismissive & unapologetic- when I placed my order promptly informed me they "didn't have shrimp tacos ".
