A a SoCal native I consider myself a decent connoisseur of all things tacos. Admittedly eating tacos in Middle Tennessee, I did not have overly high expectations. The other two in my party (also from SoCal) straight up didn't finish their meals. That is not to say the food wasn't good. I personally liked the carnitas tacos I had. I don't like tomatoes however the pico de gallo on these were delicious. I wish I had room to eat the other uneaten items. I wish I had been able to try the pastor tacos. That would have been a good test. Maybe next time. Service was good but average. It was close to closing time and they were mopping the floor so the prevailing smell was that of cleaner rather than tasty food. The floor was clean! read more

I will preface this by saying that we are SoCal natives who have been on the hunt for quality Mexican food since we moved here. We decided to try So-Cali Taco Shop because we were told it was the "best Mexican food around". Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. My steak burrito was mostly steak wrapped in a tortilla. The guacamole and salsa were only on the ends, with none in the middle. The steak, for being the main ingredient, wasn't super flavorful. It was quite juicy, though. I had So Cali cater my daughter's baby shower, the food and service was 10/10. Hosting can be a pain especially trying to please everyone, my guest complimented the food over and over. Stopped here looking for a dinner joint and feeling tacos. Ordered right away and got two chicken and one fish taco . They were very good and a decent size and tasted great. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean . My food came out fast . Price was like 4 bucks a taco but worth it. I would come back here if in the area again . read more

This is truly a So-Cali style restaurant. we stopped by here on our way into town and enjoyed a great meal. Parking was easy in the shared strip mall lot and you order at the counter. There are 2 halves of the restaurant divided by a wall with plenty of seating. The barn style wall was closed when we were there so we were limited to the left side of the restaurant, where you order from. The staff was friendly and patient. The menu was easy to navigate and had all the good stuff. I got 3 rolled tacos and also 3 carne asada tacos. We also got a large horchata, which was huge and served in the classic white styrofoam cup. The food came out quickly and there was not enough sauce given so I had to get more, which was no problem. The rolled tacos were great and came with lots of guac. I loved that the cheese wasn't fully melted, just like in So Cal! The meat on the tacos was great, but not quite a 100. read more

We love this place! I've never had a meal I don't love. Their street tacos and regular tacos remind me of San Diego. This is good authentic Mexican. UPDATE 2: I'm not trying to harm your restaurant. I'm giving honest feedback. I provided you the exact order I always get: A California burrito and a small chips and Queso. On 11/11/2023 the total price of this order was $13.12, and when I went on 12/20/23 the total price was $16.19. I always call in to the store and pick up the order. I don't go through door dash or Uber eats. I'm frustrated because I gave you all this information on the first review but you didn't take the time to verify what I was saying even though I gave you all the information for you to verify the price increase and instead denied my experience. I assume you can look at your historical prices to verify these numbers. This DOES line up with at 23% price increase for my specific order. I'm not sure what else I need to do to prove my point further. In regards to the food quality, I acknowledge you have been very consistent and good over the last few years but my last burrito was not of the same quality. read more

Quit working in the area but had to get out the house and part of my reason for driving almost 20 miles was to run a few errands, but mostly come back and get Carne Asada tacos from So-Cali Taco Shop!!! Spent almost my whole life in Southern California and it's been a struggle to find great mexican food out here in the state. This time vs previous times, I just ordered my tacos w/ meat only (and of course their lime wedges). I ordered from So-Cali Taco shop a to go order as the wife had asked for some nachos. I typically go to one of the taco trucks in the area, but they don't have nachos. I ordered the torta with carnitas. It was a good size. The guac and meat and bun were all good. My only complaint is the red and green salsas didn't pack a punch. They need a higher heat option. This place is fantastic! I'd say its a hidden gem but, judging by the full dining room and line to place an order at 3pm on a Tuesday, apparently I am the only one that has never been here! I ordered the carnitas burrito chimi style. Deep fried pork burrito with a side of fresh guacamole, sour cream and pico. The burrito was full of deliciously seasoned pork. I regret not taking a picture but it was too good to stop eating! My boyfriend got the carne asada burrito and the steak fajita burrito. He ordered 2 assuming they were small but could only finish 1! Not from the Murfreesboro area and was on a work run, I was able to find So-Cali pretty well. Waitresses/cashiers were super nice and able to explain why the menu was set up the way it was (I wanted a carnitas street taco in my combo, told me a regular carnitas instead would get my money's worth and was able to get a side of onions and cilantro.) and the food was great and came out pretty quickly since it was a to-go order. Definitely recommend and would go more often to try the rest of the menu if I was nearby. read more

Terrible food. My husband ordered a carnitas torta and took one bite of it and couldn't eat it. The chips and salsa were also terrible and that how you can really judge Mexican food. If they care about the chips then they care about the rest. The salsa tasted like ketchup. Ordered the kids rolled tacos, and bean and cheese burrito and a shrimp taco add cabbage. The only item that was decent was the shrimp taco, but if rather go to Taco Station in Smyrna. The beans in the burrito tasted like they were from a can. Can trust a place that refers to California as Cali anyway. They need to revamp. Maybe take some items off the menu so we can get some quality or maybe it's the people on the kitchen. Now I questioned the "caliness" of this place for the simple fact that nobody from California calls it Cali. Also the California burrito had fried or potatoes. While the service was both fast and efficient, the food was very plain. Most of the shrimp taco salad was rice and it could have used more dressing, sour cream, and/or guacamole. The cheese enchiladas were more enchilada sauce than cheese. For what I paid it tasted like college cafeteria food, not even fast casual Tex-Mex. There's so much potential for this place but Oscar's, San Antonio Taco Co, and every fast casual burrito shop I've been to in Lebanon are easily far better. read more

Came here last night and ordered the chile verde burrito for my husband who said it was very good, and had a ton of flavor. I ordered the carnitas street taco, carne asada street taco and the fish taco which was hands down the best taco out of the bunch. Full of plump, juicy shrimp with this a really good sauce on the top. And then we split a chicken tostada which was alright. The winners in this meal was the fish taco and the chile verde burrito. I ordered a horchata, it was good, but I'm used to more cinnamon in it. My husband got a carna asada burrito and he enjoyed it. The salsas both red and green were flavorful.
