One night when I couldn't sleep I headed out for some night photography on a Main Street in Arcadia. The weather was beautiful, and I wanted to feel the nice breeze of the night. While I was photographing the area, an Arcadia police officer pulled over and immediately questioned what I was doing. Despite his hostile tone, I tried to stay positive, greeted him politely, and attempted to explain and show him my photography. Before I could finish, he cut me off, placed his hand on his firearm, and angrily ordered me to leave. At that moment, it became clear that this wasn't a conversation it was a command. The encounter left me truly saddened. I've always tried to see the good in police, but so many experiences like this can make you reflect on the realities of policing and how quickly an interaction with police can go. Arcadia has a wonderful Police Department and crew. I used to live right next door to them many years ago in Monrovia. They keep the gangs and trouble makers out of the city. I met their Police Chief a long time ago, but I am sure she is retired now. I do not know who their new Chief is now, but Arcadia has let me slide with fix it tickets in the past. Station is right by the Santa Anita Racetrack and San Teresita Hospital. But anyway, I like to Yelp Police stations I have had good or bad experiences with sometimes. We are residents of Arcadia, and one day, right in front of the Mercedes-Benz dealership across from the park, our electric scooter was stolen. We are extremely grateful to Officer Ha for the way he handled the robbery case that day. He was very patient while taking our statement and took the time to answer all of our questions in detail. To our surprise, just as we walked home, Officer Ha called to tell us that he had found our stolen scooter and asked us to come and identify it! We were truly amazed and impressed. This experience completely changed our perception of how cases are handled we honestly didn't think the scooter would be recovered and reported the incident with only a "let's see" mindset. During the process, I called several times to ask for updates, and Officer Ha always responded patiently. On one occasion when my call didn't go through, he even called me back. This made me feel that he took my case very seriously. We are deeply thankful to have such a responsible and dedicated police officer in our community! read more

I had a car accident today (7/9/25) at 3:30pm on Duarte Rd. It wasn't a very bad accident, but I was shaken up pretty badly. I already reviewed the Arcadia Fire Dept for how amazing they were, but I wanted to leave a separate review for Officer Meraz. I felt terrible because Officer Meraz had to redirect traffic, and people were obviously very angry about this (somebody actually drove over an orange cone, then drove off with it). Anyway, Officer Meraz dealt with everything like a true professional and a gentleman. Not once did he make me feel anything but safe and secure. The tow truck driver had to send another flatbed because he didn't realize my car is 4WD, and it took a while before he arrived. Everybody else was done and had moved on because the first tow truck driver moved my car to the curb, but Officer Meraz stayed with me until 5pm, even though he didn't have to. I had a bad experience today, but Officer Meraz made everything much easier to deal with. Officer Meraz is a fine example of a great cop. read more

I dial 911 for a battery in progress. Someone had head butted me in front of my home. The Arcadia 911 operator/dispatcher is laughing at my emotional distress and condescendingly asking me questions. All the while the perpetrator was able to leave free and clear. Finally an officer comes to my house with one patrol car after at least five minutes .... Then he proceeds to tell me if I take a report IF I take a report...because the perp is gone at this point.... The officer says if the perp comes back, he cannot arrest him, this the law now. If I could give these a**holes a zero I would. I was in the middle of an intersection and a car ran a red light and smashed into me. When the Arcadia PD showed up they found out that the driver that hit me was in the country illegally and she was late for work. She had no drivers license, no insurance or registration and told the cop she was running late for work so they let her go with no ticket or nothing. When talked to the cop about this and I was really upset they said "we don't do immigration enforcement" whatever that means but of course they didn't want her to get in trouble or deported which definitely could've happened so they decided not to bring up any charges against her just to protect her and the police officer literally told me this. So now Arcadia PD just ignores crimes to protect immigrants especially the ones that are in the country of illegally. What a bunch of scumbags. My car got smashed into and my bf and I called for help and they said they'd send someone. We noticed a car with bullet holes following us around in the parking lot that parked next to my smashed car and we quickly walked inside the store we were at and called again asking how long they'd take because we were scared since the bullet hole truck had parked outside the store and it seemed like they were just camping there, not coming in or anything to shop which is super weird to do for 15+ min, but dispatch said it would be soon. We ended up waiting for an hour and at that point the pick up truck had left and I was pissed because dispatch had the nerve to tell us "they're too busy responding to more serious incidents" as we watched from inside the store as 3 police SUVs passed by without sirens, as if they were just cruising around. If they're responding to incidents that's fine I understand, but don't lie to me when I watched one of your officers stroll to the Starbucks across the street as I desperately waited for someone to come respond. When they finally showed up they really had 3 police SUVs and 3 officers come. One of them did literally nothing, one took like 3 pictures for "evidence" but clearly didn't really care because he completely missed the full face cover face mask trash on the floor (you can see it in my photo), and the third officer was taking notes. I told him about the bullet hole truck parked next to us that was following us around that I got the license plate number of (7W35949 black pick up with a phone number on the back from a company) but he didn't care. The whole report took FIVE MINUTES. At that point I was so pissed because if I had just not filed a report I could have made it to a repair shop and had it fixed the same day, but because it took them so long I ended up having a broken window for 3 days. read more

I lost a wallet here. Kind samaritan picked it up and put it to the Police Office. I call and make an appointment to pick up after work. Officer said he would put it at the front desk. After work I go and new officer says there is no wallet. After 7 minutes or so of hustle bustle, another officer walks in and tells me I was too late and that it was booked into evidence. Serious looking officer lady walks up, nods at the other two officers and tells me she was the one who wrote up my case. Man this wallet must have been a hum-dinger of a case. Officer lady tells me wallet was delivered to evidence and only the property technician can process it now. She nods again and walks off into the sunset. Well, there was a glare so it seemed that way. So the first officer gives the property technician a call and tells me the technician is off work at 4:30 and I will have to try tomorrow, but unfortunately tomorrow is Friday and the technician is off on Fridays. The first officer is very empathetic and in good faith made several calls to make sure there was nothing else he could do. He wrote my case number on the card and also the property technician's phone number. Monday morning I came by at 7:30 sharp. Property technician did not show up till 8:10. Took her another 15 minutes to find and process my notorious wallet. She was very kind but this red tape sure is frustrating. -- Laptop got stolen from office roughly 2 weeks ago. Some guy somehow snuck by our accountant when I was off to lunch and just jacked my laptop. I'm still in disbelief. Must have been an inside job. My eye is on you accountant... Officer came by for police report. Officer was very kind and took me seriously. Officer went to all nearby suites to inquire. Did not expect this level of service for such a case. Police officers were there, and i then had my wife pulled out the recording from our car and gave USB drive of that recording to the police department. They kind of shooed her away saying "we're that good, we will find who did it through cameras". about 1 month later, i left a message to the detective handling it and he called me back the next day saying "i spent the whole morning sifting through the license plate" (he called me 8am btw - so the whole morning probably like 30 minutes?), my thought was WTF??? the accident happened a month ago, we gave you recording the following day, and it took you a month to actually do something?? I told my wife, the detective and police department is TOO LAZY and pretended to do something - i'm pretty sure he didnt do anything until i called him, and then pretended "i've spent a whole morning". DONT RELY on Arcadia Police department, they will be happy to give you tickets but for the actual Arcadian's residents who are paying their salaries through property tax - they are just a bunch of lazy bureaucrats who doesnt have to worry about doing their job because of government job security! read more

BS parking tickets, I've gotten them, many of my friends have gotten them. This happened to a friend. Street parking in Arcadia is illegal from 2:30am - 5:30 am. Parked his car just after 5:30 on the street, cop showed up, wrote him a ticket. On the ticket, the cop crossed out the "2:30am-5:30am" violation and wrote "3:00am-6:00am" in pen. He had to go argue in traffic court and won. Hey Arcadia PD, newsflash - you're not allowed to instantly rewrite laws just so you can get more $$$ read more

Excellent Police Service. Had an issue with bad driver and made a call to there dispatcher. Sent over a couple of units to investigate situation. Arrived in minutes and handled the drunk accordingly. Very courteous to myself and the drunk. Can't say enough good things. Don't hate on the cops because you might need them someday. read more

eh, another city that needs a permit if you park over night. Came here to grab a permit with boyfriend and his friend who needed it. Don't think I've seen a permit machine that accepts credit card? Apparently Arcadia's permit machine does though. City street parking violation if your car is parked on the street between 2:30 AM - 5:30 AM. Make sure you read that sign they have into of the permit machine. So many damn instructions just to leave the damn permit on your dash board...You gotta write down your license plate's number and something else. ugh, its a hassle. I've had to call the Arcadia PD twice now for late-night noise disturbances. Both times the officer I spoke with was very courteous. Was racially profiled for the FIRST TIME in my life today, by an officer from this department. I'm mixed, half-black, half-German and 26 years old. I've lived in Pasadena all my life, went to La Salle High and LMU for undergrad. I was driving down Foothill Blvd and pulled over on residential street because my phone kept going off. I turned off my car, and was replying to the texts when I noticed a police car pull up behind me. I was confused because I knew I didn't do anything wrong and my car was off so he couldn't ticket me for anything. The officer gets out and immediately looks at me, then starts talking on his radio and is reading off my license plate to the dispatcher. I was like what the hell?? He comes over and says that he was driving by and my car window was down and I was parked in front of a house. He asks me why I'm parked there, to which I responded that I pulled over so I could text someone. Since, you know, its illegal to text and drive. He nodded but clearly didn't believe me. He than asked where I was headed to and I stated that I was just going for a drive. I start my next semester of grad school soon and was trying to clear my head. He repeated my answer, "just going for a drive?" and clearly thought I was lying. He then starts to walk away but comes right back and asks for my ID. Now, I'm getting pissed. I hand him my ID and he writes it down on a pad he was holding. Clearly, I didn't belong on that street and he looked so disappointed he couldn't arrest me for anything. I was in town for the weekend and parked overnight. The next morning, I found a parking ticket on the front windshield of my rental car parked in front of the house I was staying at. Such a hefty fine for a parking citation. I went to the police department to explain that I was visiting from New York. Also, I travel a lot for work and that it would be nearly impossible to know the municipal parking laws of every city that I visit, unless there was a sign that explicitly stated "no parking overnight between the hours of...." The street that I parked on didn't have any such sign exhibited within 2 miles of that street (in fact, I never saw such a sign during my whole visit). When I went to the Arcadia Police Department to dispute the overnight parking citation, I also gave them a copy of my out-of-state driver's license and a copy of my rental car agreement form to prove that I wasn't from that locality. How would I have known that you're not supposed to park there overnight from 2:30am-5:30am if there aren't any signs to tell you that? When I tried to dispute the citation, a department worker claimed that these signs were posted at the freeway exit ramps...I went to go check this for myself and found none. If these signs existed, then they would be too small for someone exiting a freeway to be able to read and comprehend what was posted while exiting a freeway. In the end, I was leaving Arcadia and just didn't have time to dispute this in court. It's really a matter of principle. By the way, I've seen the police charger vehicles rolling around the city, and they look pretty nice. One might wonder, were they partly financed by frivolous overnight parking citations targeted at non-locals? Maybe invest in putting up some signs instead. read more

Didn't happen...saw some calm, collected police work. Talked the crazy guy into an ambulance, officer said he was suffering from a drug induced delirium. Would like to commend the Arcadia Police for resolving a noise issue which has persisted for fifteen years, perpetrated by Chinese nationals, aged 20 - 24, that smoked weed and made noise at night. When the officers arrived, they politely suggested to the kids to close their windows after they leave. the officers were curt, diplomatic, and authoritative, and resolved the issue. read more

Got in a car accident today in an area unknown to me and the young driver tried to flee the scene. I got his car info and plates, called 911 and waited for the officers to arrive. After an hour of nothing, I call the station to see where the deputy is, and was told they are busy with other things and to call back. I inform them I'm going to the hospital and the operator says a deputy will take my report there. They called but there is no cell reception inside the hospital, so I call when I go outside. The operator was rude, and short. 3 hours later and I'm still waiting on someone to come. Looks like I have to find the station myself. read more

Police here is corrupt as hell. I tried to put a welfare report on my mom and I am on bad terms with her. But my mom has a restraining order against my father, and he has been using my name to fill out forms and trying to find out where she is. My father is also doing a lot of ID fraud but the police won't do anything cause they said there is no lost of money. They said just because someone is issued a restraining order doesn't mean she is in any danger. They said she is extremely happy but we will not do a welfare check. The reason I believe her life is in danger is because while I was in court against my father, he said he took 600k in loans out of the house, and that was the reason my mom divorced him because he took 500k already. Then he took more money according to the courts and blamed it on me. And has been telling everyone that he had to do repairs on a property that he rented to me that was inhabitable to me. But has done no repairs. But for some reason my brother who was also close to my mom said he has no contact and no one else seems to have contact and all her phone numbers supposedly stopped working and emails that supposedly even after her name changes stopped working. I had a private investigator said something was weird and I should consider a welfare report, my friend included. They made me wait 3-4 hours before they said they refused to do it the first time. But the cops said there is no need and to leave cause they do not believe they need to do one. I talked to my friend in the DA office and the police department in Temple city the same story and they said the police in Arcadia are scumbags who didn't want to help and that I should ask for a missing persons report. I later called and they said they never tried to look for my mom. And also that my first visit never existed and this was verified by 4 people. But they keep trying to say I should trust them and the front clerks. Then I am told the cadets are idiots and don't know anything and are poorly trained so its okay. But then a cadet said I cannot talk to the current watch commander and that there was no need and they already did find my mom. But they don't know who or which officer spoke with my mom etc. But the last watch commander also said it didn't happen. But the cadet said they got back to me which he didn't and told me they already helped me and I needed to leave and since my mom was safe there was no need for a welfare check or a missing person's report. Then Nakumura comes out and said why don't you trust our cadet it only makes you look bad. I told him if your cadet stop making up lies and go by one story I would believe you guys. Nakumura claims he is not passing the situation around. Nakumura also was implying that I lied to him and that I should not be able to move. I have severe degenerative spinal cord injury and nerve injury in my bladder and bowel movements. He got upset saying hey you told me you were injured and so you shouldn't be able to stand or move. He said nothing about you makes any sense. I have seen my father do several hit and runs. If anyone and some kids got hit by a silver sienna van should report it. Kurt Chen hit them! It was at first and Huntington Dr. The police refused to take my report quite a few number of times. Kurt Chen's car has over 500 accidents. Nakumura said that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to drive. Nakumura again said by talking to my friend about getting incident reports and trying to have a "police report to report to the DA" is not the right way. My doctor saved my life when my father tried to suffocate me in the car while I was too injured to move due to spinal cord injury. My dad on a hot summer day (138) at Dr. Fortanasce's parking lot, locked the cars and rolled up the windows. My Dr. yelled at him and fought him for the keys and got me out minutes later. After helping me get feeling back into my body , we called the cops, but my father left. They did not do a police report. They said call back the next time it happens. When it happened again they again did nothing. Nakumura said talking to friends that are cops and DA assistant is not an attorney. He said only attorney's know the law. And that nothing I did made any sense. He said the cops aren't the ones who enforce the law. The courts do Also since I was young I have been helping with the police department and traffic department. I worked with traffic department to help put out cross walks around Arcadia and fix sidewalks and report city problems. Many of which these police officers used for entrapments. They purposely gave out tickets to people knowing that many of the elderly and people were getting rides and to meet at the cross walk. You know its bad when the city asks the police to stop doing fake entrapments. So they got rid of the cross walk and now have to put up a signal light on a number of places. It is so sad that the cops in Arcadia have turned into thugs, pimps, and gangsters, and drug addicts. read more

So im walking east on huntington dr just about to come to CHASE bank ATM machine when i notice a police car pulling out of the drive way, I figured he'd come to a stop since there's a sign on the pavement with white bold letters that reads STOP. the cop was on his computer, didn't even acknowledge me walking and just about hit me. This is really stupid thing ever in my life. Just got a parking ticket parking in a red curb like a feet touching the red curb. I had my army training in the morning at 5 am and couldnt care enuf about the red curb, well how could i really care the red curb, it was so dark and so darn cold in the morning that i had no focus on it but my army training. At 7 am when i got out i saw this bald police officer putting a ticket on top of my windshield. The heck for real i touched it like a feet away and i am so sure no one was bothered i parked there since the red line is a really long line. Even my sergeant told me, "Such a bullshit".
