My experience with the Pasadena Police Department after losing over $20,000 in a malfunctioning…read morebank ATM has been deeply disappointing and concerning. After the bank admitted ATM issues were a "common problem" at their branch, refused to return my deposited checks, and failed to provide a transaction receipt, I was told to simply call the customer hotline on the side of the ATM. I called Pasadena police from the branch and waited over 30 minutes--only for officers to eventually arrive at my residence more than an hour later after I called them back and said I'm leaving the bank. When officers finally responded, they immediately and arbitrarily dismissed my case as a civil matter without investigation, review of evidence, or any real due diligence. Notably, one of the responding officers told me that he used to work at a bank and proceeded to "guess" what would happen to my missing checks, instead of conducting an impartial, professional inquiry. I had to point out that he was there as a guardian of public justice for the City of Pasadena--not to serve as a spokesperson or theorist for banks. This was a glaring conflict of interest, and I specifically documented the incident as part of my formal complaints. The frustration only escalated when I tried to file those complaints. Lieutenant Christopher Kirby in the Professional Standards Unit mishandled my case, ignoring and then perfunctory dismissing my complaints and claiming that I should submit all future complaints through the city's proprietary portal to ensure they are documented and tracked as mandated by law. The portal in question is opaque and limits a citizen's ability to keep records or interact meaningfully. Despite my raising the issue of policy violations, ignored conflicts of interest, and lack of thorough investigation, Lt. Kirby responded with vague assurances that "proper protocol" was followed--never citing specific policy or government code and never addressing the substance of my concerns. The department's overall approach was riddled with delays, bureaucratic runaround, and a blatant avoidance of responsibility--both at the scene and through the formal complaint process. If you suffer financial loss in the City of Pasadena, do not expect meaningful support, transparency, or accountability from this department. My experience exposes major gaps in public service, consumer protection, and internal integrity. I urge city leadership to urgently review police practices regarding financial crime, conflicts of interest, public complaint processes, and departmental transparency.

And her continued rant on the topic. which aired no concrete grievances, but seemed like her own issues about not having as much money in La Canada, which isn't La Crescenta? Bizarre. I am unhoused and people from this station have been nothing but over-thoughtful to me. Officer/Deputy Fort is a prime example. I didn't ask the name of the deputy, but in 2023, after someone stomped out my windshield on drugs, a deputy/sheriff from this station, who'd received a complaint I'd parked too long in one spot -- watch out for Gladys Kravitz citizens -- not deputies, who need a hobby other than harassing the unhoused, stat! -- was very kind and when he saw my smashed windshield, told me which nearby town had the best deals to replace it at low-cost. He was on the money! Just had to tell my experience because it's, frankly, unfair to make vague claims like Cynthia G. did about them caring only about rich La Canada residents [what on Earth is she even ranting about?] when I'm literally unhoused and they often go out of their way to show me kindness, shares resources, show grace. Unlike Cynthia G.'s unspecified, unclear rant which I will be screenshotting to save for every time I need a good belly laugh!

This experience completely changed our perception of how cases are handled we honestly didn't think the scooter would be recovered and reported the incident with only a "let's see" mindset. During the process, I called several times to ask for updates, and Officer Ha always responded patiently. On one occasion when my call didn't go through, he even called me back. This made me feel that he took my case very seriously. We are deeply thankful to have such a responsible and dedicated police officer in our community!

YES graveyard shifts! Somebody has to be awake in the middle of the night when you're knocked out from the day's activities. I do think its a thankless job. As a police officer you have to lay down the law. You have to keep people in line, and that often times rub people the wrong way because people think they're joy-kill. But if they don't do it, who will? Yes sometimes you're just having a fantastic party but its 3am, your neighbors do also have a right to have some peace of mind and sleep. Either way, I'm a big fan. In my 25 years of residency in SP , I can say that the police station used to be run efficiently…read moreby friendly , polite people. It really complemented the feel of Mayberry at one point . The police officers were so respectful, kind and actually cared about their residents. I so miss officer Wise. He tired long ago. Even the parking enforcement people were nice. Today , most of the officers and parking cadets are so arrogant and treat residents like criminals. The parking enforcement cadets are eager to cite you over anything. if you stop for a second to let someone out of your car on the red curb, because there was no other option. Even when your car is on. I never saw the cadet and never knew I had " broken " the law. I was shocked to receive the ticket by mail. The cadet didn't speak to me , I never even saw him; going by the pics , I can see that he followed me. Never put the light on me or honk his horn. I. guess the parking enforcement cadets NOW can cite you for a moving violation. I requested to speak with the watch commander on duty. I stood for 45 minutes waiting for the officer. I am a senior , disabled person. The officer finally showed up and had a very defensive attitude. He showed no courtesy at all. I unfortunately did not write his name down. He didn't have any interest in listening anything I had to say . It makes me think the cadets have a quota of citations to meet daily. While I was waiting at the police station for the watch commander, a woman came in with a similar complain: she got a parking ticket on the mail, but the cadet didn't leave a copy on the windshield. So drivers are now being spied on by the parking cadets from far away , no hard copy on your windshield because you are way to far from them . All they have to do is write your plate number and you'll get a surprise notice on the mail. This is corruption at its highest. It reminds me of the motorcycle police officer , also in South Pasadena, who hides behind bushes or on private driveways by the high school and on Orange Grove, ready to stop and cite people. Before , this motorcycle officer was the only sneaky character. Now the parking cadets are here to get you too and they are supported by the police. So shameful!!
