Officer Portilla is awesome and deserves a promotion. Earlier this evening I was returning to my Brand new car ( I was parked by the Sheriff station gates on El Molino, and was walking backing from shooting several photos at Christmas Tree lane) when I stepped in a huge pile of Dog Doodoo... which got all into the soles of my shoe... I was frantic and worried about Ruining my new car smell, and explaining to My Girlfriend what that odor was coming from the car! so I walked to the gate to look for an officer, and she was there, So I called through the gate and explained my situation! She was kind enough to return with a paperclip, a few paper towels, and a couple of cleaning wipes. This remedied the situation. I understand.... This might not be a huge emergency, perhaps the smallest act of public safety and protection she accomplished today, but if you could put yourself in my shoes ( No pun Intended) , Perhaps you could understand how huge it was to me. Pathetic... I was calling to report a burglary from a motor vehicle the took place in Eaton Canyon. First off, nobody even answers the phone at the station... Finally a female sheriff answered and basically talked over me and refused to even listen. The website doesn't allow police reports to be submitted for the particular crime I needed to report and LITERALLY says "Call the Altadena Sheriff Station." The tone this sheriff had was disrespectful and dismissive. It's shocking that someone who needs help from the police can get talked over and basically turned away. No wonder people are less and less likely to report petty crimes nowadays... Altadena Sheriff station couldn't give less of a shit. read more

BEWARE of Deputy Morse badge# 6687. She will racially profile you and pull you over for no reason! I got pulled over today and she said that she's letting me off with a "warning" after she ran my name and it came back clean. I told her thanks for discriminating against me and she told me "no problem!". I then went to check the brake lights that were supposedly not working and they all worked fine. Deputies like her give the others a bad name because I know of some fine Deputies from the Temple station that do not condone this type of behavior from their peers. It seems like this is the norm for the Altadena station as I had a friend file a formal complaint for the same reason just last week. There's always a bad apple in the bunch and she is definitely one of them. They need to get rid of her before she costs taxpayers hefty litigation fees. read more

My only experience with this station is living very close to it and word of mouth. One of my neighbors was working on his car with his Chiuahua next to him when a Sherrifs car came barreling around the corner, swerved because of something in the street, then hit and killed his dog. The car didn't even stop. I am constantly being woken up by speeding cars coming in and out of this place. I understand that there emergencies---but not everyday 4-5 times a night. The loudspeaker is always going off at this building and it's not all 'business' related. They are very slow to turn on their headlights when leaving, and it could create a really nasty situation since pet owners use this street to walk their dogs to the cute park up the street. read more

Ok, I'm going to be honest....There is a party hosted at my humble abode about 3 times a month. It all starts with drinks, a bonfire and...... a lot of people. they all arrive around 10... come 2 AM there is always 2-3 cop cars infront on my house. Not only that but as i'm walking towards their vehicles...I hear some nagging, sort of a fatherly nag "Liz, its late. we've gotten 3 calls. keep your friends inside and keep the party going......btw who's that cute chick that just left, she is FINE...your friends are so cute" hahaha the fact that they know me by my first name is kinda awesome yet frightning. knock on wood. read more

Very helpful and friendly officer at the front desk. The officers in Altadena have always been very kind and respectful in my experience.

I try to walk in this morning at the Altadena Sheriff Station and an officer was walking out of the door, I ask him how I can report that my car was missing or stolen? right away he asked me to give him two seconds and he will get my report,, it wasn't even two seconds and he was ready to write down my report, Questions asked very politely, I can say that I was ready to cry for what happened , but he was the sweetest Officer I had met in my life, it was like he was a therapist, the way he was talking to me and writing down the report was very smooth and he made me smile, of course i was boiling from inside that who could steal my car? but he was an angel, he explained to me what I had to do next gave me my report and even asked me if I needed a ride, God bless you Officer Matthews, you made my day and thank you for all your help this morning. read more

While we are all being advised to "social distance" I came upon a small crowd of Sheriff's Deputies, fireman and ambulance while walking my dog. There were 5 or 6 standing in a circle with no apparent space between each one. When I called to inform the office of this I was connected with a Sergeant who said that he had been part of this and that he was wearing a mask. However when I pointed out that I did not see masks on these individuals he said that perhaps he had left by the time I saw them. He further stated that they do not have enough masks. I pointed out that this is all the more reason to keep the recommended 6 feet of distance and to MODEL the behavior we are all being asked to practice. He said he would reinforce this. read more

I just called Altadena Sheriff's wanting to find out about gun laws and restriction. I was told that they didn't have time to speak with me?? Here i am, a tax payer, and law abiding citizen, trying to find out the right steps to take before purchasing a firearm and I'm told that? Really? From what I can see this is one of the biggest problems in southern California and now I know why!! If our own law enforcement won't take the time to explain laws about something that is a touchy issue they shouldn't waste time wondering why there is a gun problem in California!! I am so disgusted about this. Then I call to talk to the Sargent and the same person who didn't have time for me tells me he's not there and he will call me back........... Have I got a call? NO!!! This sheriff station is very helpful and looks out for the community unlike its neighbors in La Crescenta. The La Crescenta Sheriff station seems to care about giving only traffic tickets and not actually protecting the community. Altadena Sheriff from my experience are not very helpful at all. People get away with so much stuff here, the department doesn't care. I really feel that our own safety and protection is in our own hands. read more
