Our Company rented 3 large trailers in Sparks, NV for a one day event. Two were not used. When we returned them, the employee inspected and pulled out the sink faucet immediately. The first thing they pulled and it came right out. They knew. Parts of their interior were already broken and they probably charge every customer this issue over and over. $325 fines for each. Try to get someone to talk to after. Nope. Disputed with the credit card and El Monte. No one could get a hold of El Monte so charge was reversed. We will never use this location in Reno again. read more

Well I called to get some information about renting an RV since I've never done so before. The girl who answered was so rude and was really not giving me any effort. Alright experience, staff was nice but our RV had a few flaws, stuff you only realize you need later. Steering wheel had a big play which made the drive very tense, my main issue was we find out the 90 elbow to hook the sewage plumbing it's not included in any El Monte RVs, I've rented trailers before and never hear of such thing, a staff member from a RV resorts we stopped told me I could get a ticket if a sewage spill was made. Also, the awning didn't work, one cabinet door came off as we were driving and almost hit my son in the head. I would rent again from them but with the condition I get a newer vehicle. read more

i usually never do reviews, but this place is is terrible, unprofessional to say the very least. Made reservation 4 months ago for 25' RV, cked on it yesterday, told it was fine, today before picking up got a call, its not available but a bigger one is for more money. Reserved and paid for In advance, a 28 foot MotorHome from this company. Arrived 30 min early for our orientation and paperwork. Problem #1 the woman who was checking us in attempted to charge our account again even though we had pre paid all fees. We had to watch a video during which it was stressed several times that it was our responsibility to ensure that items like tires be checked at every fuel stop for proper inflation. We were advised several times that any flat or damaged tires were our responsibility and we would be required to replace any flat or damaged tires during our rental period. We were also advised that we were responsible for cleaning the unit prior to returning it. If the unit was dirty, our credit card would be changed. We signed all necessary forms and went to get our rental unit. I walked over to the unit and immediately noticed all 4 rear tires were bald and were unsafe to drive on. I pointed this out to the woman who completed our paperwork. She told us it was ok and not to worry. I refused to accept the unit due to the unsafe tires. We had planned to make a 2k mile trip With the MotorHome. The woman told us we could take the unit to one of El Monte's repair facility's and have the tires replaced. I asked the woman for a replacement or upgrade. I was told they had none and they would be canceling or reservation and giving us our money back. We have yet to see the refund of over 3k! I forgot to mention the RV was filthy as well! This company is horrendous! I will never do business with them again and will tell everyone I know how incompetent the staff of El Monte RVs Reno rental center is! This company is a rip off and I would encourage anyone thinking of renting from El Monte to consider another company such as Camping World or Cruise America. read more

The RV rattled the entire way, microwave was not installed correctly, they let us leave with a contract that stated chips in the windshield and then charged us 500.00 to fix the windshield upon return. Horrible customer service. Do not rent from this business! read more

Horrible customer service experience. We had very specific needs for our reservation due to size constraints at our destination and a tight itinerary. Despite confirming all of our booking requirements days in advance and being told everything was in order, the RV we reserved was not available when we arrived. Cutting a long story short, instead of making efforts to right the wrong, management became intentionally obstructionist and unhelpful as we tried to work through alternative solutions that would satisfy our reservation needs. Management also insisted that we had to buy their insurance policy unless we had them listed as a party on our private vehicle insurance - in all our years of renting cars and RVs, we have never been required to do this. In summary, save yourself the stress, time and expense by avoiding this location if you need to rent an RV or vehicle. read more

Caveat Emptor! We rented an RV for Burning Man '14 from this company only to find out at the time of signing the contract that they provide NO SERVICE on the playa (notwithstanding that local distributor mentioned he had or would be onsite). The unit rented to us was shabby ( fuel gauge didn't work, drivers side mirror was loose, etc.) but we took it for lack of any alternatives. To add insult to injury, there were many, many brand new El Monte RV's in the parking lot of the Grand Sierra. To make matters worse the generator completely failed mid week of Burning Man. As a result, we cut our trip short and returned after this epic fail. We disputed charge with our CC but to no avail, a one day refund is the best El Monte would do. We can prove beyond any doubt (we have evidence) that El Monte doubled the rate for rental and it is and was price gouging at its worst. Lesson learned: DO NOT RENT FROM EL MONTE read more
