Service was okay, The taste of the food was good but what we ordered was not what they brought to us all wrong i ordered casamiento with my food they brought me a side of beans (Fritos) and then rice on my plate. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! This is my joint for pupusas in the IE. I used to live in the South Bay, and there's a Nuevo San Miguel in Gardena that was my regular go-to for my pupusa cravings. After moving to the IE, I searched and searched, with no luck, for a place of similar caliber....until! I saw this spot on the Jurupa/Riverside border. I have no idea if this place is associated with the one in Gardena, but it's definitely on the same level. The pupusas here are so good. I haven't found better out this way yet. I'm no pupusa expert but I've definitely had my fair share. I've also ordered from here the pastelitos (good) and the tamal de elote (also good). They have granadilla (passion fruit juice) which is also a huge bonus. Their horchata is good too! I can't speak for any other items on the menu, but if you're looking for good pupusas, this place is legit! My only gripe is that they say they close at 9, but really they close around 8:00. If you're wanting food after that, it's pick up only - and even then, they won't take your order past 8:40, so be cautious. And the other small nit picky thing is the curtido. It tastes good, but it has jalapenos in it, which to me makes it a little less authentic salvi, but that's how it is in a lot of pupuserias - I'm just being picky. The service here is fine. At times they might forget about you. The place is really clean with plenty of space. I love that they're not stingy with the curtido too because I definitely OD on curtido. If you, like me, have been searching and searching for a pupuseria to call home, give this one a try. read more

There is plenty of parking so no need to worry about that. Depending what time you come it could be busy and you might have a wait, even though the restaurant is pretty big. The staff is very welcoming and cordial. They take the time to explain the best value for what you want. We began with a quesadilla, typical Salvadoran sweet bread, which was delicious. I ended getting a sampler type plate for $12 that could easily be shared by 2 people. The Pupusas were very good also. I ordered the orchata, do yourself a favor and do the same you will not be disappointed. Got at this place at 157pm had two or three customers at the place already service and done. I was say a table immediately. Server said she be back in a few to take my order. She came back 17 mins later apologized for not taking my order( no one at the restaurant at this point). Looks like she was taking her lunch break. She had food in her mouth and chewing why Apologizing. I place my order of a pupusa, yuca chancochada con chicharrón, horchata and water. I was served my food by 2:45pm. All looked delicious but as she placed the yuca I noticed a hair in the chicharrón and I pointed it to her and she pulled it out and it was a very long hair on the meat and yuca. I told her I didn't want the plate because she made it seem like I could go ahead and eat it now. I was no please take it. She took it and a proceed to eat the pupusa delicious but the way and so was the horchata. 3-5 mins later she comes out with another plate of yuca and chicharrón (which I'm assuming it must of been the same one just on another plate) I was like no I'm at the counter and I want to pay for my food. No apology was offered. Too bad this place was closed down previous looks like the same owners and same waitress as before. She confirmed it when I asked her. What a shame. Finally a place in the Inland empire with pupusas with filling ( cheese , beans , chicharrón ) not all tortilla!! The pupusas are always stuffed and ozzing with cheese. Atole de Elote js amazing . Especially on a cold rainy day. I've been here a few times and I'm never disappointed. I'm the hardest critic when it comes to Central America food since I grew up eating it. The staff is always very attentive and nice . Prices are great. Food is delicious. Just wished the pan con gallina was shredded chicken and not a whole piece with bones . That's is the only thing. Normally I dont right reviews but I have been coming to this restaurant for some time. It has gone down dearly although the food is still okay customer service sucks! The lady up front always has an attitude as well as the lady taking orders. As a person who works in customer service as well I understand that we all have our days but these ladies are something else. When going in you sit yourself down which is understandable. Today however sitting down one of the waitress comes up and throws the menus on my table which surprised me. Upon telling her that we were ready she responds with "I can't help you but the lady over there will." As I said okay she left and the other lady came with a horrible attitude not even a smile or nothing (didn't say a word) waiting for me to start ordering right away. I was very impressed with service , friendly and fast , very clean interior and quite dinning setting and food prices were affordable as well. Food in the other hand , I was not happy with with Pan con Pollo , bread was so hard I couldn't even use my fork on it , the chicken in was a dry thigh sitting on top of the bread , it suppose to be shredded and very well moist , but that wasn't the case . My husband and I came here for dinner and left within 5 minutes. We were not greeted when we came in. The restaurant looks closed, and when we walked in even though the restaurant is big, there were only 5 tables avail to sit at. The waitress came up and handed us a menu in Spanish. Neither my husband or I speak Spanish. No one working there speaks English and no English menus. We walked out. I get this is a specialized restaurant, but you are in the US, you should have at least one employee who speaks the native language- ENGLISH! I actually felt discriminated against. This place is absolutely amazing. The decor was updated and the waitress was very kind and nice. She had let us sit at any table that we had wanted. There's plenty of parking and empty spaces outside the restaurant and inside it's large enough to fit a lot of people as well. As a vegan I was happy to find many items that were available to me. Not only the basic boring vegan options but delicious ones for very cheap. My daughter and I shared fresh tortillas, rice and beans. Also baked plaintains. We had a fresh chopped fruit drink and an orange Fanta. Everything came to an amazing $10.00. I'd highly suggest this location for a meal. I ordered the bean and cheese pupusas. Where there were beans and cheese, they were really good, but there were several large areas on each pupusa where it was just solid masa with no filling at all. It's too bad because the beans were creamy and delicious and the cheese was fresh and just the right amount of salty. The girl who helped me was very nice and apologetic that she really could not speak English, which is no big deal for me as I speak Spanish, which seemed to surprise her as I don't look like I would I guess. I asked for some extra sauce and cabbage which she happily provided and overall the service was great. Only wish there was more stuff inside my pupusas. read more

We been watching this place for over a year. I tried some Salvadorian food a while back and it was ok so i figured I would try San Miguel because its close to home. I had the Yucca and Chicharron, both we very over cooked. There is a fine line when you fry yucca because it can dry out quickly. It was very over done and dry. The dipping sauce I selected was nothing more than watered down tomato sauce. The Chicharron were nearing like a pork jerky it was so dry and over cooked as well as flavorless. I been curious to have a "Pupusa." That was a greasy experience it nearly floated in grease and its suppose to be a grilled item. I also had the Bean and Cheese one another poster discusses below, and I also got sick about an hour after I got home. What's up with that? What I can say good about this place is the servers where nice, but save your money. read more

Beware of the increase in prices.... I've ate here in the past and prices were reasonable before. Apart from food, I ordered two drinks (horchata & tamarindo). Each beverage was charged at $9.99!!! That's $20 for 2 beverages. I thought it was an error and I brought it to the attention of the staff who said the prices were listed on the menu. It's worth noting there are two sizes (medium & large) and he didn't ask what size we wanted. He just brought out the 2 drinks and figured he would charge us as much as he could. For the menu itself, they used what appears to be a sharpie marker and sloppily wrote the prices. They're hard to read. I suggested he let customers know in advance of the high prices for beverages so no one else gets the surprise that I got today.
