I hope that they will make the same update to the patio, it is still the harsh 1,000 watt white bulbs out there, and soooo many of them. I still love coming here but I am incredibly disappointed that it wasn't until after I received the bill that my server told me even though the menu states "all margaritas half priced on Mondays" it does not apply to the one I ordered. I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the flavors were not what I expected. The waitress was very nice, helpful, and honest. She even suggested other plates when we asked, which I appreciated. We ordered the carnitas plate, but the flavor and texture didn't seem like traditional pork carnitas -- it tasted more like beef to us, and it wasn't what we were hoping for. My boyfriend ordered the carne en chile rojo, but he also wasn't a big fan of the flavor. The albóndiga soup was probably our favorite, and I would rate it around a 4/10. The service was definitely the highlight of our visit. First Timer Here. Loved the environment as a whole and the service was great. The food was delicious! I ordered the Cali Burrito with no sour cream and light guacamole and I wasn't super hungry, but it hit just right! Mmmmm. The chips were fresh and just the right amount of salty but the salsa was just a little too spicy for me - but my friend loved it and he likes it spicy. The only downside was there was a party happening in another room and apparently due to that, our food took forever to get out. The two small groups that got seated ahead of us had gotten theirs and we waited for a long time. My friend almost just wanted to leave. So maybe next time, find a way to still be able to serve small groups on sync rather than making them wait extra time if possible. But I'd be back for sure. Oh, the mango margarita was not it. It tasted premade and plain. Another table left a full margarita as well so this worried me that this may be something normal? I took my husband this morning for Father's Day and to have brunch. We were seated right away and made our plates but then decided to look at the rug and completely got grossed out. I noticed the carpet is so dark a filthy vs. the edges by the walls. Sick!!! My husband wanted over easy eggs and they charged me an extra $7.50 for the eggs. The lady at the omelette station said she doesn't make them. They expect you to eat the Powdered eggs in the dishes or have her make an omelette that tastes like cooking spray because she continues to spray the pan while the egg is already in it. WTF!! This place used to be good. We went this past Tuesday with my in laws. They were visiting from out of town and wanted to go here. We hadn't been in awhile. Place was packed. The local police seemed to be having their annual Christmas party and there were many other people. I went to the bar while waiting to be seated. Guy walked away and said he'll be right back... 5 mins later I get their Costco tasting margarita. We get seated. Waited another5 mins for our server to come and ask what we want to drink. Finally paced our orders. I got the shrimp burrito, hubby got a the California burrito, mil got the taco salad and fil got chile verde plate. I took two bites out of my burrito and almost puked. It was so gross. I ended up eating my rice and beans, but I did throw up in the parking lot and I did throw up the rest of my food when I got home. My husband cannot finish his Carne Asada of California burrito. He said the meat tasted funny and he was up all night with a stomach ache. My mil picked at her salad. Mostly ate the shell and said lettuce was wet and soggy ruining everything. A night of wasted money, stomach aches and vomiting is what we got from here. Unfortunately this place is nothing like it once was. Their use of cheap ingredients and lack of staff shows. Their margarita is only thing worth going for but even then it tastes EXACTLY like the Kirkland pre mixed margarita. I'd rather buy a bottle or two and have that with friends at home. The only thing that tasted somewhat authentic is the beans and rice other than that sauce for the enchiladas tasted like it came from a can you can tell they don't take the time to make the sauce. Next to us was a group of people being super loud, it was hard to hear anyone talk. My daughter didn't like her food either and the food is just way overpriced. OK guys first time coming here customer service is really bad. It just looked like she was attending to the other customers more than us. I love the atmosphere but I'm sorry the food was not good at all. I ended up getting Machaca with eggs. I asked for over medium she gave me sunny side up and to be honest I'm Machaca hat, tomato, onion, and cilantro, which tasted like they just we warmed it and gave it to me and it was not Fresh. It was actually kind of spoiled already. She did take it back and offered me something else but I'm sorry that took my appetite away the chili let you know that we order was tasteless. We use to come here back in the day 30 years ago, so we decided to try it out again because it had some mixed reviews and we were in town. The chips were not fresh and the taste of the oil on them was old. The house salsa is good. I ordered the steak fajita and pretty much got a pile of bell peppers and onions with about 5 pieces of steak I had to dig to find for $27 dollars. My sister ordered a Chili Relleno burrito this is where I believe their oil is old and tainted, because it sent her to the restroom twice before we ever got out of the restaurant, not to mention after leaving and the food also sent me to the restroom. I ate very little the food. The service was okay. The ambiance there doesn't really exist. The place is huge, feels empty and could use to be updated The best thing about the dining experience was the mango chili margarita. Overall it was a waste of a $100 dollars. read more

Our sever Sandra completely ignored us when we ordered she only got 1/2 the order down then had to come back and ask again I had also asked for a side of rice and beans which we never received. This is a spot we come to often when we visit my mother-in-law. They are one of the few Mexican restaurants we can find these days that serve a Chimichanga. We ordered margaritas and when the check came they charged them out as Cadillac Margarita's. The waiter said all margaritas are considered as Cadillacs. First of all a Cadillac is always MORE. The other margaritas did NOT come with an extra shot. Everyone's checks came with an automatic 30percent tip! Never heard of 30 percent unless I DECIDE to give. Came for a fundraiser night and waited around 15-20 minutes! Parking does get filled but there's several street parking as well. The servers gave several recommendations on their "top picked" options. They had recommended the asada and carnitas, which were always made fresh the day of. Complimentary salsa and chips were given to start off. Carnitas- This was so good! The meat was tender and filled with flavor. It pairs well with the rice. You can even make your own burrito/taco with the tortilla given. This plate also comes with soup or salad. I got the soup and it did not disappoint! 2 stars because almost everything has lard (pork) in it. I get that it's "Traditonal" but in this day and age guy need to adapt to lots of different diets. The chips on the table, the refried beans, the rice, all the meat is cooked in it, even the shrimp and chicken. So, if you don't eat pork you can order bland boiled beans, and maybe a quesadilla or the veggie fajitas, that's it. My grandmother owned a Mexican restaurant, so did my aunt and my father...wayyy back in the day. All of their restaurants were absolutely the best. The food here at Mexico Cafe is Fantastic! It felt like really, really good home cooking by a chef who had just enough Modelo to dig deep into the authentic flavors of Mexico itself. My wife and I were beside ourselves...the flavors were so complex (the pork, the beef, the chicken, the shrimp) and full of delicious aromas as well. The presentation was spot on. No drippy sauce running over the edge of plates or bowls. No, everything looked as if there were a five-star Michelin chef named "Peento" in the back under bright lights using a microscope to perfect it's appearance so detailed in beauty that you could film a commercial highlighting it's deliciousness. The corn tortillas are handmade (in-house) and look, feel, smell and taste like the ones we used to get back in the 60's on Mt. Vernon St. in S.B., simply amazing! The staff is very nice, pleasant and attentive. What was a breath of fresh air was, No loud boisterous servers, no hovering servers (yet the staff is ready and available, busily waiting in the wings for whatever your need). The brunch is simply explosive! The scent of authentic Mexican food in the air, the Sternos keeping everything piping hot and the variety and combination of food available makes for millions of different ways to combine flavors. The waffles were better than what we've had in Solvang, sweet dense, with a slight crunch and extremely flavorful. The toppings (apple, strawberry, Etc.) were so hot that you'd burn yourself if you didn't let it cool a bit before taking a bite. The kind ladies making the omelets are making those chicken eggs sing with their cooking talents. The restaurant and parking lot are very clean; however the place was a bit warm, and the flatware is too thin. The price is extremely affordable especially for the quality of the food, et.al. With parking lot security, one feels secure in leaving your Ferrari unattended while you leave the real world and enter just a bit of Mexico and all of its amazing flavors and peeps. It was our First time visiting and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Our server (Angel) was awesome for suggesting things that catered to both mine and my ol lady's taste buds. His professionalism and character were amazing as well. I ordered an item off their secret menu (yes they have a secret menu) and my ol lady ordered one of her personal favorites tried from other places. She said that she's never been to a place locally, that has been able to make food like we had, since her Abuela (grandma in Spanish). Let me piggy back off that, personally my Abuela set that bar WAAAAAAAAY too high for Spanish rice, but let me tell you, tonight, I had to look down because I was afraid if I looked up, she'd (my Abuela in spirit form) would judge me for liking their rice as much as hers. Yes, this place made Spanish rice JUST like Abuela!
