I feel odd writing a review about this place, because clearly, everyone already knows this is the best pupusa truck in Red Hook. I mean why would anyone bother to write about such a well known fact? The absence of reviews about this truck makes that clear. If you go there, you will certainly see that all of Brooklyn is lined up to get food from this truck... everyone.... everyone plus their mothers... and fathers... and cousins twice removed. Olomega has a much wider selection of food than the other trucks. Pupusas, chicharrones, tamales, plantains, and apparently, even a "super" pupusa! I had the chicken and cheese, and the beans and cheese. They were fantastic, but honestly, I don't think my pupusa palette is sophisticated enough to tell the difference between Olomega and Solber. Even if you don't think you can eat two papusas, you will. Also, you don't have a choice because you have to order in pairs. Bring a friend! We went with the pork and cheese, and the beef and cheese. They definitely don't skimp on cheese, I'll tell you that. You can also get delicious pickled jalapenos on the side (self-serve) as well as some nondescript hot sauce. This truck had the longest line at the Red Hook Ball Fields, but they had a tent near the truck for some shade when you get closer. The truck is also pretty gigantic. Pretty sure I counted 7 people in the truck at once. Insert joke here. There's a guy who comes around to take your orders, so be prepared. He gives you a receipt, and then when it's your turn to pick up your food, you pay the lady in the truck and tell her if you want it for here or to go. Simple. read more

Saw the epic line of locals while walking down Bay St and figured this must be a worthwhile experience for $6. Forty minutes later I had two pupusas (revuelta/pork and cheese & a loroco and cheese) and a marañon drink. The pupusas come with a side of lightly pickled cabbage ("curtido") and sour cream. Hot sauce and pickled jalapeño is also available for self service. Pupusas are a close sister to the more widely known arepa, the difference being the type of flour used (corn vs rice flour) and the filling being rolled into dough prior to cooking. These were satisfyingly chewy and moist cornmeal was the dominant flavor - I was a fan of the Salvadoran cheese in both. The revuelta was popular in the line and hit the spot after that long wait but I really preferred the loroco, the green flower stood up well against all that cheese and oil. My mom was visiting NYC recently, and offered to drive us to IKEA as a fun outing (best mom ever). We were driving by this place, when I literally screamed STOP THE CAR!! I found this place after watching a video on Facebook. They made the super pupusa and we had to try it. We as my husband and I. We live in Eastern Long Island so the drive is a bit more than the hour but we knew we had go do it to try it out. We drove out to Brooklyn on a Sunday late morning and traffic was it usually and finally we get to the truck and order our food. We ordered of course the super pupusa and oh my gosh it was delicious. I have never had a pupusa that big before and the taste was amazing. I have had the smaller ones from the deli and the ones that my mom makes but this one was so flavorful. They are only there on the weekends which is fine because i would only be able to make the drive on the weekend. I recommend this food truck to everyone. Its a must try! read more

Came here for a late lunch. The food was pretty good. The chorizo and cheese pupusa was better than the pork and cheese pupusa. Both a bit greasy but still good. The pickled cabbage was a nice counterbalance. My husband thought the pickled cabbage was the best thing on the plate. We got the pupusa platter. It was sweltering heat- I would recommend going on a warm day with a cool breeze as it is outdoor seating (park tables) and there are not that many benches under shade. These are the best pupusas in NYC. They are always made to order and there is always a line so if you're not patient move on. I love drinking their horchata and agua de marañon (unique cashew fruit drink). Favorite pupusas are: cheese chicharrón and bean, chicken and cheese, bean and cheese. I came for the pupusas and I left happy! I had the chorizo + cheese and the pork + cheese. Since this is a food truck you get to watch them make the pupusas, which was super interesting. Luckily, it wasn't that busy of a day and we were able to find a seat. On a busier day it would be good to come prepared with a blanket or something to sit on. My husband and I read all these reviews and guess what we did yup! Followed the hype we took an hour and half ride all the way from Long Island to Brooklyn, waited a little over 2 hours the line kept on getting bigger and bigger at one point we where sooo hungry we ate little here and there from the other 2 cars on the side under the rain we where sure the wait and weather were well worth mmmmmm what a big huge disappointment I'm not sure if it had something to do with the day, weather whatever it was the pupusas revueltas mix pupusas tasted like a little cheese and little meat in the middle more masa than anything, the chorizo didn't taste any different the big 10 inch pupusas was okay we wanted to taste a chicharrón only and the lady said nope not happening they can cancel if they want whatever we took 2 of whatever she wanted to make ufffff still in my fridge that was Sunday 08/19 the best thing they have is the encurtido very tasty other than that nothing special we have plenty of places here in Long Island that make them way better. I would consider give it another try but maybe when they reconsider their portion control also $3.00 per pupusas they are out of their mind not worth it at all!
