Whenever I see these food trucks, the determinator for whether I try it or not is based SOLELY on whether or not they have beef tongue available lol. None of the Americanized Mexican Trucks and Restaurants have that specific cut of meat and frankly, it's my favorite by far so when I saw it on the menu in this truck as I was passing by, I had to give it a shot. It's honestly really easy to tell whether or not the tongue is done well because it's either tender and delicious with a slight bounce, or it's excessively chewy and bland, and I'm glad to say that this is the former. Everything else is just baseline good quality, from the wrap to the rice and beans and all the fixings inside as well. While definitely not the biggest burrito I've ever had, it's a pretty good size overall so I can't really complain. read more

There's a chance I've gaslit myself because I'm pretty sure the taco truck outside/near Union Hall used to be a different one. But anyway, it's now Morelos (one of my favorite spots from Sunset Park). My friend and I were turned away from late night pizza, so this was our consolation prize. Scratch that, this should've been the first place prize. Like so many taco places in NYC, they've leaned into making birria tacos. We asked if they were any good, and they were wishy-washy about it, so we didn't order them. Got some al pastor and cochinita pibil tacos instead. While we were waiting for them, the guy we spoke to actually gave us a sample of the birria. I know it was the end of the night, but super nice of him! Also... he was right. Don't get them. The al pastor and cochinita pibil ones, however, were pretty solid. Never had cochinita pibil before, but it might be my new favorite. Like gold melting in my mouth! These are some of the best tacos I've ever had in my life! I've enjoyed the pollo, pescado, and chorizo tacos. I've eaten them with all the toppings and once with just a few toppings. Either way is delicious. You cannot go wrong at this taco truck. This is hands down the best place to get tacos in Park Slope. Affordable, fresh, hot, and flavorful, Morelos is my go-to for fish tacos. The staff is always super friendly and we've never had any issues with them, I just hope they continue to stick around long term and I'm slightly hesitant to give away my favorite taco truck spot in the neighborhood. read more

I don't sleep walk, but if I did I'm pretty sure my body would head over to morelos taco truck without a doubt. Just writing this review I'm craving it. I always walk past this truck and see a line of people (even at 1am) and I always say to myself I'll try it sometime. Well well well, I've tried it alright and it was awesome!!!! It's run by one guy who does it all, he deals with the payments, taking the orders and cooking the food. There are many options from quesadillas to tacos to tortas and so much more. For a truck he offers so many different options. I had the steak quesadilla the first time and the second time (which was yesterday :) ) I had the chicken quesadilla. Both times were finger licking good. The meat is always flavorful and the toppings and size is way more than I could ask for such a decent price. Everything for the most part is under ten dollars. Also fyi, there is an atm attached to the truck if you need it but he does take both card and cash now. The truck is usually parked on union street and 5th avenue sometimes on the side street and sometimes right on 5th either way you won't miss it. Came out of Union Hall on a Friday night of drinking $6 beers (which I think is super cheap!) not even looking for anything to eat and ran into this taco truck. Usually I avoid things like this unless I'm referred to it by someone else but we though what the heck and waited on line. Just two guys working in this tiny little tortas truck and they cranked these orders out pretty fast. I had the Milaneza de pollo torta. What can I say? Chicken? Good! Beans? Good! Cheese, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo and jalapeño? Gooooood! Crispy toasted bun to hold in all the goodness? Oh I'll have another! There tortas aren't ridiculously big but they definitely hit the spot! The BEST Mexican food Park Slope has to offer. They are usually located on Union Street and 5th Avenue. Delicious, tasty, and fresh every single time. It doesn't matter what you're going to order, it's going to be amazing. I pick up a few times a week because I can never get sick of it. My go to is a chicken bowl with all of its toppings. This taco truck is like Brigadoon: when all the elements are aligned, it appears and it's a miracle. Definitely the most "authentic" Mexican (whatever that means to you; to me, it reminds me of good Mexican food from SoCal) in the Slope. Granted, that's a bar so low it could dredge the Gowanus Canal, but when you're in a jam for a good, tender, barbacoa taco or burrito, or you're getting off the R train at midnight and you want consistency (e.g., not Oaxaca on 4th ave), you head to the corner of Union St and 5th ave and hope to be met by the loving fumes and festive lights of the Morelos truck and fewer than 2 people in line. The reason is that at least one of those two people will be ordering dinner for his/her entire crew at some place around the corner, and because it's a truck and not a restaurant, there is only one blessed person cooking, and that one order may take like 15 minutes. And when it's really cold out, standing around for 15 minutes sucks. So, hope for warm weather or get lucky. Like I said, Brigadoon. read more

I go to the truck by Wall Street and Water Street in manhattan. I don't love it, mainly because the food seems to be salty, but the soft taco shells are a little bland. From my understanding it is more authentic than most Mexican restaurants/trucks in the city but after going a few times I was completely over it. Food truck was in Park Slope on Union St. and 5th Ave. Stopped after a run for a fast dinner. I like tacos so I tried three different ones: chicken, chorizo and carnitas. Carnitas was chopped and I'm not a fan of doing it that way. You either end up with dry meat if you trim the fat, or you end up with some cubes of pure fat and that is what I got here. Meat was not very flavorful but not dry. Chicken was also nothing special - not very flavorful but also not dry. There is nothing worse than a taco with dry meat. This wasn't dry so it was eatable. Chorizo was the best of the three and I finished that one, but overall a standard chorizo - does not stand out from some good ones I've had in other places. Truck looked decent and clean, good service. Food is OK but I would not go out of my way to eat here. read more

Late night and bar hopping with my best friend and found into this food truck. I would say that this has to be the best unexpected find ever! Carlos and Luis (the cooks) were so friendly and explained the menu to us (which was self explanatory but we were new to REAL Mexican food). I ordered the Cemitas with carne asada and my friend ordered the quesadilla. Both meals were great! And presented very neatly.
