My friend told me about this place and we were visiting from Austin so we decided to check it out. Went thru the drive thru the service was good friendly person taking our order. We did not go in so not sure what the ambience or inside looked like. We ordered nachos, a burrito and couple tacos. Everything came out hot and steamy food tasted great! Caldo de res 6/10 Pupusas 9/10 Rice 8/10 Beans 8/10 I came in one morning and the caldo was not ready. I finally decided on the pupusa plate. I am glad I did because these were some of the best pupusas I have ever had. The rice and beans are some of the best I have had in a restaurant as well. The caldo de res hit the spot. I got there at 11:15 because of their pozole I'm from Rosenberg Tx visiting Dallas from out of town with my wife and inlaws first problem we had was breakfast hour was over which I felt they could of accommodated us but the girl in charge just said breakfast hours are over plus it was very cold outside and their heating system wasn't working with cold air coming from vents with ceiling fan on I asked if they could turn off ceiling fan and the same girl said they couldn't due to broken chain and sad to say we did enjoy the pozole the previous time it wasn't up to par this time I will never come comeback to this place unfortunately when it could have been an easy fix to accommodate the situation . Went through the drive thru last night, was excited to get home and eat. Laid everything out, salsa was good - check. Chips are super hard, Queso is runny, rice tasted as if they went and picked up a bunch from a Chinese restaurant, beans were old and dry. Enchiladas were edible. Luckily had some Julio's chips at home and had chips and salsa for dinner with the enchiladas. After waiting 10 minutes in drive thru I have to say I expected better. This is the only mexican place i go to and the only food i order is the lengua corn taco with EVERYTHING on it. Cilantro onion lettuce cheese avocado sourcream lime . It is more expensive than barbacua or any meat but i like the lengua! Sometimes it depends on who is working- on how they do your plate- if it's substantial or they put few toppings. read more

Walking in it looks like a fast-food style restaurant. Where you choose what you like and sit and wait for your order to be called. I immediately noticed the smell of bleach. And it's strong. The table are cleaned with it and the smell lingers. I ordered two items and one came with things that it shouldn't have. They have a drive thru as well. If u must add salsa Rosa and devour. Three bites. 5/5 carnitas street tacos. Do lime, cilantro onions eat and repeat. Amazing really. So simple but so good. 4/5 Enchilada platter. Beef. Topped with Smokey red sauce and a drizzle of creama. Beans are Smokey and comforting. Rice is perfectly fluffy and warm. Top with shredded lettuce, cheese and pico if you want to be the obnoxious Gringo. Dive in and imagine how lucky you are. 3/5 green salsa. It's ok....taste the green tomatillos and jalapeño. Slightly bitter but perfect for the balance of acid. 4/5 salsa Rosa. Great hit of salty spiciness w a hint of smokiness. 4/5 pico. Not as spicy as some places but very authentic. Not heavily drenched in lime. 3/5 ambiance. I would give it a 5+ but I know many that would not delight many fellow yelpers. This is the shabby mex feel that I so love and adds to the overall experience. 5/5 service and authentic experience this side of Mexico. 5/5 drive through so my wife can grab and drive home fast because I can't wait! The food here is very good and very well seasoned. The chips could be a bit more salty but that doesn't even matter the salsa is good. Service was quick and everyone was nice also bilingual so no language barrier. The restaurant was very clean and smelled amazing. I hadn't been to El Paisa in soooo long, which is kind of nuts considering how close it is to my parent's house and how often I'm with my parents. Haven't reviewed it in over 4 years but I have been enjoying their food, so it's definitely time for an update. El Paisa never lets you down -- their food is affordable, made & served quickly, and it's good! It's not like the best Mexican food you ever had as in nothing particularly stands out, but if you're craving traditional street tacos, nachos, quesadillas, burritos, or tortas with a classic side of rice and beans + decent chips & salsa, then definitely come here. The food is fresh! I feel the meat in my tacos (I typically get steak or barbacoa) is a little greasy, but I can't complain because fat means flavor and it tastes delicious! Fast & friendly service. I don't often eat inside but it's been clean and comfortable when I have. I typically go through the drive-thru -- another big plus. It's not so typical to find street tacos like these with a drive-thru. read more

So, my second time coming here. I live around the corner and have passed this location several times, but never thought much of it because I didn't know if it was authentic or just another "tex-mex" place. A coworker of mine informed me that it was genuine, so I decided to go in, and I was floored. The food was amazing. I had Gorditas tonight, which were so great, and I might stop in for their enchiladas again. They have a great number of cuisines that you would find in an authentic Mexican restaurant, and for an extremely reasonable price. I have no issue with the staff, because on both occasions they seemed friendly and sociable, with one laughing and agreeing they were definitely anything but tex-mex. Not that there's anything wrong with Tex-Mex food, but for me it's a personal preference. When I want to explore other cultures, I want real dishes and not Americanized dishes. By Americanized, I mean dishes where said food is prepared and put together in a way that is popular for American cuisine. Also, as someone that cannot stand Taco Bell (I consider Taco Bell one of those restaurants you would almost have to force me to eat at; or a last resort place "last man in the world" type), I would urge you to come here the next time you have a craving for cheap Mexican food. Here, they have the real deal and all their food ranges from four, five, to six or seven dollars. You can easily have all the same food at an expensive Mexican restaurant for ten bucks or less.
