How has this place been open for 3 years and I haven't been here until today. We had a couple of different meals. I had the Alambre which was AMAZING!! My kids had the chicken quesadilla. My husband had a Torta Taquera with Chicken along with some tacos. Everything tasted very fresh and authentic. This place is small but they keep it nice and cool, so I wouldn't mind eating inside. The people are so friendly and inviting. The guy who took my order even had them cook me a piece of Nopales so I could try it. I didn't like it but definitely a sweet gesture. Torta Cubana was very delicious!! So much meat and cheese! Hard to finish it all! I rate it a 5 Tostada de tinga, I loved how spicy it was! Finally I can bump down all the other taco contenders near me! So this place wins. Honestly I haven't tried the other items on the menu because well, tacos!! This is real Mexican street style tacos. Don't expect cheese on everything.Not only are the meats fully flavored, even tortillas they come in are special. They use the cute mini yellow corn tortillas. There are scorch marks on the tortillas and they are greased to perfection. Don't expect a single bite to be full of grease either. I noticed they had aguas which are basically teas and I was told they are scratch made. Most places now use the artificial mix but not here. Horchata, hibiscus(Jamaica), and tamarind. Let me start with the drink. Their aguas frescas are fresh and not powdered. They're made there! The agua de jamaica was soooo yummy and huge. The hot sauces: the green sauce wasn't good. The red was was pretty good. Tacos: suadero was okay. Pastor tasted a little bit too much like pork. The Asadero was my favorite! I even ended up getting a quesadilla with asadero. I love hole-in-the-wall taquerias. Nothing negative when I say hole-in-the-wall. Just a term of endearment for mom & pop family businesses. This place is great! Inexpensive ($1.50/taco; $1/tacos on Mondays) people are friendly, but most importantly, the tacos are fan-flippin'-tastic! I always order 5-6 tacos, each a different type to get a broad range. By far, their barbacoa is the best! Best I've had as well. My only constructive criticism (can't be a complaint because I always get this) is add grilled pineapple to the pastor. Either way I still order this. The ONLY downside is the tacos are so good and fun to order (and cheap) it's preventing me from trying their other food. I always go in with an intent to try something else, but always revert back to the tacos. Honestly, not a bad trade-off if you ask me. Have some tacos. Have a Top-Chico. We drive by this place every other day, it seems, and finally decided to try it out for lunch. It doesn't look like much from the outside and the inside is no different - a very low-key, inexpensive Mexican food place that serves your food fairly quickly. When you walk in they ask if it's for there or to-go (they have maybe 6 booths/tables). If you eat there, they ask you to sit wherever you'd like me they bring you the menu. I ordered 2 gorditas with asada meat and my husband ordered the burrito, also with asada. The green salsa they bring you is the spicier of the 2 but very tasty - highly recommend trying it if you're into spicy foods. The gorditas and burrito were both pretty good and came out rather quickly after ordering. The prices are fair and the atmosphere of the place makes for a very relaxing place to eat. Overall we enjoyed the food and the experience. We will be back to try other things on the menu. read more

We tried this place several months ago. It was a bit too authentic for me since I gravitate toward Tex-Mex. I don't even recall what I ate there but I crossed it off my list. This is the 3rd restaurant that has gone south on Pipeline Road. Buttermilk has gone downhill. Denny's is now closed and the fish restaurant that preceded this new place we never got to try. Tried this place for the first time yesterday, unfortunately I was disappointed. Taco meat was cold, tortillas were hard and green salsa was a dark green taste like old avocado. I was even more disappointed because this was dinner for my family woke up with upset stomach. I hate giving bad reviews but I also think people should take pride of what they serve salsa isn't expensive to make there is no excuse and the tacos should at least be hot. I love tacos. I eat them often. South Hurst has a ton of options for me and I enjoy sampling them all. Last night, I had my first experience with Tacos La Capital #2 and it was incredible. Hands down, the best pastor tacos I have ever had. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. It's close to the house and so fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more
