I see all the negative reviews of food taking too long , but u didn't experience that. So maybe I went during a slow period. I had good service , and were given drinks we ordered right away. Even if they had long wait times the food is worth it. I can't find anything better than the pupusas here. I'll come back over and over. This place is authentic . Hopefully these people who give negative reviews go back on a slow day, or message the owners about their concerns . I always think that's the only way a place to improve. I was in the area and wanted to eat a pupusa. I began with a fruit salad drink. It's quite refreshing and not too sweet. I had a cheese and loroco pupusa. It was quite good and not greasy. But it could have been cheesier. The cabbage (curtido) is a bit spicy. Once I got my pupusa the waitress never returned. I ordered a corn tamal to go. I proceeded to go pay at cash register as didn't get my check. I received my tamal at the cash register. It comes with cream. The cream could have been tastier. I love the pupusas here, they are fresh and so yummy. My favorite is the lorroco and cheese and then the bean and cheese. I also ordered the platanos plate with cream and beans, the plantain was very hard. Super dry, I prefer them soft and juicy. The food is really good, and I've only ordered delivery so I didn't experience their vaunted service. I order here because they are open at night unlike the other popular pupusa places. They have a variety of pupusas including loroco so you know they are Salvadoran. I once ordered the chile rellenos forgetting to specify that I wanted stuffed with cheese only. Instead, I got a tasty melange of shredded beef and cheese. Not going to repeat that since I am vegetarian, but I still devoured it. The prices are reasonable too. read more

08/2021 update: my family and I have been coming to this location for over 6 years. The food is very good and good prices. I will say this: the wait can be very long. Therefore, we always order our food at least 20 or 30 minutes before getting there to dine-in. It's always for the most part ready when we arrive. Honestly, the wait is long but you're getting food that is made instantly and not just pre-heated. They do charge gratuity beforehand. The agua de marañon is very good as well- all their aguas frescas are made naturally the same day, as well as the food being fresh, always. This restaurant has one of the cleanest kitchens I've every seen, I trust their workers and the cooks. The waitresses are very nice and have all worked here since I can remember. Absolutely horrible restaurant! The food is good but wow the customer service is disgusting. We called ahead of showing up to check what time they closed and told us 10. We show up around 9:15 and they refused to take our order because and I quote they "wanted to go home" I was furious. Mind you we were not the only or last table there. Another waitress straight up lied to our face and told us that the waitress that had told us that they closed at 10. This is my first time eating here with my family we did not enjoy it. Service was awful and food was not okay. It took 30 minutes for our waitress to take our orders after receiving our drinks. Also, it was not busy when we got there. I noticed the waitresses were bunched up together gossiping. After 30 minutes of waiting, our waitress gets our orders. My mother ordered a ceviche concha. It basically was full of onions instead of concha's. The dish should've been called ceviche de cebolla. After four bites my mom couldn't keep eating it so she ordered another plate. I advised the waitress and she said "well that's how they make it." I don't think anybody would like to eat a spoon full of onions. Throughout the whole time there, no waitress has checked up on us or asked if the food was okay. At the end to pay I told the cashier if she can remove the dish my mother disliked and explained why and still refused. To not make a scene I just payed but hopefully this review is seen because you would not enjoy eating at this place. Went to their new spot across the street from the old location. I am genuinely disappointed with these people. The pupusas were mediocre, I've definitely had better and my yucca had a sorry amount of chicharron. My server is what really pissed me off about this place. They accidently gave us one more pupusa then they were supposed to and she stuck her hand in my boyfriends place and took it! My boyfriend can't speak Spanish, but he felt like that was really wrong to do. Mind you, she didn't even ask she just took it on another plate and left. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else gave it with how disgusting these people are. He lost his appetite and didn't eat what was left of his. She also checked back with us 1 other time. The food is "Ah-ight". But the pungent smell of shit is so overwhelming at this North Side location that your better off getting your food to go. As a plumber I can quickly attribute the odor to a sewer gas leak. This can cause nausea and migraine headaches. This may explain the attitude of the staff here who exclaimed in broken Spanglish "I don giff a ffock," when I tried to inform them of the vile smell in this joint. As I write this I am currently perched on my own toilet at home with my styrofoam box across my lap and this experience is 10 times more enjoyable than stepping into that black hole they refer to as a restaurant. 2 stinky thumbs down says this critic. Second time coming here w my husband and dad. Service was terrible . Asked for a refill. After 15 minutes I decided to go up to the counter and ask the lady at the register for one.
