It seems like most people had strong feelings about this place but I just can't get in touch with that passion. They start you out with chips and salsa. The chips are warm which is nice but the salsa is kind of "run of the mill" for my taste. Not really hot or flavorful. For lunch I had the chorizo omelette. The chorizo had good flavor and was not overly greasy so the omelette was pretty good. The flour tortillas, however, reminded me of grocery store variety. They were really just filler. Their lunch entrees come with rice and beans. The rice contains some potatoes but are otherwise don't leave much of an impression. Overall there was nothing really wrong with this place. Only enough veggies to fill about 2 tacos. I was pretty bummed. Boyfriend got the Macho Burrito and then asked me why we drove 20 minutes to go to what is essentially Azteca :( I agree that it was pretty pricy ($15-$17) for entrees. Been coming here now and then since '05 I think, and there has always been friendly, competent service. Also, excellent house made chips and salsa. You get a little bowl of refried beans with that too, and they'll keep bringing you more if you keep eating it. They offer the typical Mexican beers, and solid margaritas. The food is better than the usual "Mexican" platter-type fare you get at Azteca, but it isn't Rick Bayless either. I agree that it IS the best Mexican food in Everett, however. They have a vegetarian menu with perhaps 10 really good dishes on it. I'm not a vegetarian, but I usually order from it. Sometimes we sit in the bar, and sometimes the dining room. But it doesn't really matter unless they're packed (which can happen on a friday night) because the two rooms have the same Mexican pop music, the same Mexican soccer on the tvs, and the same "old Mexico" decor. We decided to get Mexican food after a very busy weekend and being we are vegetarians we both got the veggie chimichanga and were so beat we had it delivered the good, the chips were very good I mean the best we had in a long time and we get Mexican often, the chimichangas was ok, just tasted more like burritos since it was barely fried that being said it was ok ... oh wait I said that already the rice and bean were nicely flavored and the salsa was too hot but good. A strong 4-stars for El Paraiso. Stopped in here for lunch last week while helping a friend get some stuff from an old roommate. Bright, friendly, clean interior with lots of seating, including a mix of booths and regular tables. I enjoyed the background music and the big-screen TVs with Saturday college football games on the top-edge of the back wall where the whole restaurant could see them instead of just the bar-crowd. Service was excellent even during the busy lunch-crowd. The hostess seated us immediately. The waiter must have checked in with us a dozen times without ever really interrupting. Glasses were refilled promptly. Menu is huge with lots of variety. I had a simpler one-item dish (chimichanga w/ shredded beef) and found it ample. The other guys ordered larger plates (enchiladas and sopes) and received huge portions. I've eaten at tons of mexican restaurants in my life and this one was definitely good flavor. Everyone was happy. One guy didn't hesitate to hold-up the waiter on clearing dishes so he could wipe out the leftovers on his friend's plate! While this restaurant serves your typical Mexican food, it has one thing that sets it apart- in the front of the restaurant, as you walk in, there is a woman who is making FRESH, handmade tortillas on a small press. She puts some fresh salsa on each one, wraps it in a small paper and hands it to you as a small treat as you wait to be seated. It is free, delicious and so different! The food selection is wide and the prices are completely reasonable. The chicken is tender and so flavorful, and my dad says they have one of the best pork burritos around. I also like that with their complementary chips and salsa, they also give you bean dip which is tasty and complex! The service could be improved on, which is why I gave this establishment 4 stars. We just moved from Texas and have been craving Tex-Mex but had heard it's almost impossible to find in the Seattle area; after all, our realtor took us to Taco Time and described that as good Mexican....it's not. So, on a suggestion from my boyfriend's co-worker we headed to El Paraiso. They welcome you with a warm homemade tortilla (it's good and the highlight of the trip) but after that it can best be described as average. We had the margaritas and fajitas figuring those are always safe and while they were fine, they were nothing spectacular. The tortillas that came with them seemed store bought and the fajitas were oilier than we're accustomed to. I'm sure El Paraiso is great if you're from the area but if you hail from anywhere in the Southwest I would keep looking, we will be. read more

So my friends, my fiancé and I went to this restaurant el parios in Everett on colby Ave, my friends not being very hungry ordered from the kids menu well when the owner brought us our food with the waitress he was super rude to her and my two friends for ordering off the kids menu and almost made the waitress cry over it with his condescending attitude and his comments. Then they both left and I waited for my tortillas and they never came so I just figured I'de eat my food and after it was all gone the owner finally came out with my tortillas and tried to give them to me and I said I don't want them I'm done with my food and he rolled his eyes at me and I what I'm done why would I want th now and he was super rude and tried to tell me it wasn't his fault... We then proceeded to get into an argument about his behavior to not only my friends but to me as well and still proceeded to argue with me saying he didn't have an attitude I had to tell him to get away from me before I really lost it and I have had problems with this guy and his attitude before and so have many of my friends I would not recommend going here to my worst enemy. No one deserves to get treated like Martinez treats his paying customers and his own staff definitely better Mexican food at senior Sergio up the street with amazing owners who treat you right!!! read more

Table salsa was tasty Pico degallo was good Tortilla soup was okay the broth was flavorful and it offered a lot of avocados, but the chicken was nasty! What I most love about El Paraiso is that the cooks will make whatever you want, despite how it is described on the menu. I like my chiles relleno with green sauce, but theirs traditionally comes with red. No problema. Plus, they have a lunch punch card, gorgeous carved bench/booths, serve warmed frijoles with the complimentary chips and salsa. It's a warm, friendly atmosphere and the staff seems to want customers. We live in Seattle and have not found good Mexican food at all. We were very shocked and surprised that this restaurant is leaps and bounds better than any Mexican restaurants in Seattle. It tastes like California Mexican food! We came for lunch on a Saturday and got two combo plates. First combo plate was chile relleno and veggie tamale. The second plate was chorizo tostada, chicken enchilada, and pork tamale. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. The tamales were the highlight and were really good. The rice and beans accompanying the combos were really good as well. The chips and salsa and bean dip were pretty standard. We demolished everything and was part of the clean plate club. The staff was really friendly and the place was clean. We are definitely making the trek from Seattle to eat here again. Found this place while driving through town and decided to come in based off the reviews. The food is definitely good but our service wasn't pleasant. The waitress was really nice but we waited a while for drinks, we even had to go up to the bar to put our drink order in. Then we wanted to order tacos a la carte and she us it would be more expensive than the meal so we got the meal and then looked at the menu after we ordered and the a la carte would have been over $5 cheaper. Then again, my friend wanted to order a small bowl of queso and she told us it would be $6 because they could only give her a big bowl but when the bill came she was charged $9 for it. Have you ever had a burrito at a Mexican American restaurant and it's been just blah blah meat beans rice. Well I just had a chicken burrito here and it was packed with flavor the chicken was seasoned the vegetables they went along with the chicken we're super flavorful the beans were delicious the rice was delicious and the salsa that they have has a perfect spice level and acidity to balance out the burritos here. I have been using the main delivery companies throughout the pandemic and had to do without my El Paraiso for almost a year. Just discovered that they deliver through Yelp/Grubhub. The struggle trying to find Mexican food that is consistent and not bland was a big one. So thankful to now know I can have my El Paraiso again. The owners are top notch and the food never disappoints. My favorites are the El carbon tacos, any of their enchiladas, and their chipotle shrimp dish.
