Best value would be the fajitas because you get some guac on your side of rice and beans with a pinch of lettuce and tomatoes. Beers are $8-12 depending on size. What a fun place to visit near Christmas. The restaurant is decked out in lights and decorations. This really provides a great Holiday spirit atmosphere. Service was very prompt and almost a bit rushed. The menu has the typical choices. The food was great, nothing exceptional but definitely in the top tier. The pricing food prices are reasonable but the special Christmas drinks are at an expected premium. This place is on the repeat list as well as the other La Palmera locations. read more

Haven't been here in several years. Food is fantastic! Service is great! Husband had the spinach enchiladas with black beans and rice. I had the Happy Hour fish tacos and the Happy Hour queso dip. Of course we shared the dip. We were seated in the bar. Kinda dark, but they had their TVs on, so it was okay. Nice to know they have Happy Hour 3-6 on a Saturday! Beautiful building with plenty of seating in the bar area & family friendly area. Waitress was awesome and very attentive. We went during lunch hours on a Friday. Bonus for being open at 10am! Great big menu with lunch specials. We both got the arroz con pollo for $16. What a deal! Decent size and had plenty of leftovers. Not sure why they have mixed reviews.. don't let that scare you! I love this spot! I've been coming here since I was a child and they owned a small place in the lot across the street. I probably average here around at least 10-15 times a year. I love the taquitos rancheros, chicken enchiladas, and various soups. The service is always pretty spot on, and I really don't have anything bad to say about this place. Been dining here 20+ years but I will not come back. Today I order 2- carne asada one with beans and one without beans. Arnoldo charged me $3 extra for fried beans and $4 for two jalapenos. Fried beans should be included with the dinner already. He told me they charge extra now which I don't see it on menu or if you're order online. This restaurant used to be good food good price and friendly service. I used to know the manager there too, but I guess they have changed. Has it really been a decade since I've been here...? I don't think so. I know I've been to this location at least once and I don't think it was here in 2016, I think 2016 was the location around the corner. Came in for happy hour and will say the Happy Hour menu, prices and offerings are all A+. My problem was with the service. There was a group at the bar, and they got the bartenders full attention, next were the tables behind them. We were in the corner and for at least 10 minutes we were ignored before the bartender shouted, " I see you and will be right there". This is what I hate about bars, unless you have alcohol in front of you or it's a pull tab situation, you tend to be ignored. We watched as she continue to repour beers without even making eye contact with us. I could ramble on and on about how bad the service was, but since this is an update, I'll just drop facts. Everything needed salt. The salsa was good and had a kick, but needed salt and there was no salt on the table. I actually had soup and the soup was a solid B, but would have been an A with some salt and a little less tomato sauce or salsa. The perfect chicken and rice soup is chicken stock , with chicken, rice, a little lime, onion and cilantro. This soup was red, which told me too much tomato. Again, the food is far better than any other local chain, but the service is terrible and that applies to Mill Creek and Lake Union as well, the last time I was at either location, I left unhappy and had to speak with a manager. Last night, I wasn't in the mood, we just paid and left. These are places with A potential that continue to give D level effort. I wanted to drop them to 1 star, but I don't have the energy for that. read more

My best friend and I went to this restaurant. It was the greatest the waiter even had funny jokes and frightened up our day. The food was absolutely wonderful and the management was always around and at the bar area to help anybody that needed help I would suggest the ceviche or the enchiladas, the guacamole was terrific. The tortillas were fresh and warm. The margaritas were quite tasty too. I would suggest this restaurant for your Friday night out because it's worth it. They had great parking too if you want a good Mexican restaurant that doesn't cost a lot and that the employees are great. After going over my phone order twice! They seemed to still mess it up! Then expected me to return to pickup the missing items. I wanted to get refunded for the missing items. This turned into a dilemma! The couldn't refund it back to my card. They wanted me to drive back and get cash refund. Then I was promised a Zelle within a few minutes. That didn't happen! Had to call back in an hour later. And was told they were busy, but I promise you will get your money! This is 30 min before closing! Unsure who the call taker was, but to continuously over talk and be upset with a paying customer who's order you messed up...not a good look! Being Mexican, food standards are a little higher. This is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant ever. My favorite is the carne asada or the potato flautas. Rice and beans to die for and probably the best chips and salsa EVER. Wish they had tastier drinks, they almost taste like pre-made margaritas. I would give this place a 3.5 if it were possible. I ordered delivery and the food was packaged really well - everything was sealed and secure. My boyfriend ordered the Carne asada, he said the meat was really juicy and decently seasoned, it also came with a side of beans, rice, and 4 small tortilla. I ordered the California burrito, it was a really good sized burrito but I was pretty disappointed with the taste. There really wasn't much flavor. It came with a side of pico de gio (also pretty bland) and lettuce. The meal came with a pretty big portion of tortilla chips, which were really nice and crispy, but again lacked flavor - it really needed a good sprinkle of some salt. Had dinner with my wife last night and had not been there in some time. Totally disappointed. We had chicken chimichanga and enchiladas. Chicken was not the nice fall apart, shredded with seasoning like it used to be. It was chopped up in large chunks, hardly any seasoning and tasted bland. The chips, salsa and beans you get when you arrive are always good but only one portion and no refill. Look, beans and rice are two of the cheapest things one can cook but they seem to think that it's lobster or something. Super small portions of beans and rice with this tiny portion of lettuce or whatever in the middle. Extreme minimal amount of cheese also. All this for 15.99 per plate? This was about the cheapest item on the menu. Staff is friendly and hard pressed to get you in and out as soon as they can even if the place is empty. Not coming back. read more

La Palmera has become our family go to dinner, we love it here! I am currently learning Spanish and I have called on the phone to order and asked if I could do it in Spanish, the lady who was taking the call said "of course." I kinda messed up a few words and she was very patient and helpful, not once did she seem annoyed or mad with me. It was extremely nice of her to help with learning the language, I greatly appreciated it. We also came in once the dine in option was available. Again I asked the waiter if I could speak in Spanish only, no English, and he was all for it. We had a good conversation and he was very helpful and nice as well. It was very much appreciated. And the most important part...the food! We have been here probably 20 times and not once have we had a bad experience. I highly recommend this place and we will continue to come back. There are several of these scattered around up here, and they're all very well-run. It's more of a sports bar setting with a full Mexican menu than it is a Mexican restaurant--the dishes are somewhat Anglicized, and they heavily emphasize hanging out and watching sports. They do a good job on the food, the prices are fair, and the service never misses a beat, not even for a second. It dawned on me real quick that this is probably the best place in the area to catch a game. The road here is busy, and while there are still quite a few trees set back from the main thoroughfare, the tilt-up buildings are giving it the endless strip mall feel more and more every year. La Palmera is a big standalone building two doors back from a very busy intersection. Ironically, they share a parking lot with a much more traditional taco shop that's also very good (for completely different reasons). If you want to drink a bunch of margaritas and catch a game, this is your spot. There's tons of parking, and inside there are 3 distinct and very large dining rooms, plus a huge bar area. All the furniture matches, and it wasn't the cheapest stuff around, to say the least. The build quality here is very good. The bar and the dining room next to it have plenty of natural light from two big walls of windows. The bar has an equally huge wall of bottles to choose from. Every dining room has TVs, I think, and the bar has several, including a bunch of big flat screens and a big projection TV. They were showing a variety of different sports last night, including soccer (I think Mexican league games). The decor includes a bunch of Seattle sports memorabilia, and you know this is a great place to catch a big Hawks game or other Seattle broadcast. The food is solid--decent chips and salsa show up almost as soon as you sit down. We had the Santa Fe Nachos with carne, and you could clearly taste grilled steak in almost every bite. All the ingredients were good, and they got toppings on almost every chip. The steak was really tender, too. All the attention to detail is there. The queso dip was delicious. Great margarita and mojito. I gotta hand it to the staff here; we asked whether they serve brunch and they spun right around with menus: lots of chilaquiles, buckets of build-your-own bloody marys. This place is a chain and it's not like they're serving some special creative menu--but they CLEARLY know how to get people in here having fun. The staff were always moving, hustling and checking on everybody. They had one busser posted by the bar keeping an eye on everything, and she actually did this, she didn't just chat with people. She was running for fresh chips and filling waters the whole time. There are tons of regulars here, too Lots of handshakes and even hugs with the staff as they'd roll in. People out for drinks, couple of all ages, big and small families. It's Americanized food, but you can't ask for a restaurant to be run any better than this. read more

When my family and I used to live in the area we would eat at La Palmera every Saturday or Sunday at the original location across the street. We had such memories of this place...this week while traveling for work I was in the area and told my co-worker we have to eat here. Now they have moved from their original location to lIterally across the street. Walking in loved the new location vibe and feel. Very nicely decorated and much more more modern. All the great memories came back after putting that first warm chip with their amazing salsa. Yep this is what great Mexican restaurants do right. If you can't get chips and salsa right then you can't convince me you don't do the rest right. For lunch I had the chicken fajitas. These were so delicious and had such great flavor. I love the fact that they cook the onions and peppers all the way done with a little char. The chicken as well was super tender and juicy. Loved it! The service was awesome!
