I have been using the main delivery companies throughout the pandemic and had to do without my El Paraiso for almost a year. Just discovered that they deliver through Yelp/Grubhub. The struggle trying to find Mexican food that is consistent and not bland was a big one. So thankful to now know I can have my El Paraiso again. The owners are top notch and the food never disappoints. My favorites are the El carbon tacos, any of their enchiladas, and their chipotle shrimp dish. Um. Did we order the wrong things?? There are SO many rave reviews. I unfortunately did not have a great experience. Honestly some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Good Mexican food up North is really hard to find. I had heard good things so wanted to give this place a go. I ordered the Carnitas and my bf ordered the Carne Asada with Bacon Wrapped Prawns. My Carnitas where the worst I have ever had. They tasted like straight up boiled pork. They were not crispy or juicy or tender at all. They were a little dry and bland too, I was very disappointed. The rice was pretty good, the beans were okay. My plate was a little slopped together as well, just messy. My bf's Carne Asada was okay. It didn't really taste like beef, it tasted more like pork which I thought was kind of weird. His prawns were delicious and the best part of the meal. In any case his plate and food tasted a lot better than mine. I know they make their tortillas from scratch and I was very excited about this. However ours tasted old, stale almost and they did not come out warm either. I asked for corn tortillas and my bf asked for white, they brought out just corn. Service was okay. Nothing memorable. Definitely never coming back. I don't really want to risk having another bad meal when I can have a pretty good one at La Palmera or La Hacienda. read more

I had high hopes for El Paraiso based on the Yelp reviews but alas, it turned out to be just another gringo Mexican restaurant no better or worse than any of the cheese laden chains in the area. El Paraiso is your typical festive Mexican place with stuff hanging from the ceilings and carved high back booths only they chose to upholster their seats in a Hawaiian print (?). The waiter comes asking if we want drinks. When we ask for margaritas the up-selling begins. Would we like the grande? Yes? Would we like an extra shot? Wah?? Doesn't the grande come with extra tequila? Twice we were asked the question. Food. I broke my own rule here. I didn't want too much so I ordered a combo since they had a "small" combo menu but I never order the combo because it always disappoints. My food arrives on an oval plate the size of turkey platter with my Beef Tamale and Pork Enchilada swimming in between oceans of re-fried beans and rice with just a little bit of cabbage slaw tucked in the center. Too bad the slaw serving was so tiny because it really was the best thing on the plate. It was fresh, tangy and delicious. The tamale was tough with extremely dry shredded beef in the center. The enchilada had an alright filling and was made with a house made tortilla but it also was a bit tough. The beans and rice were nothing special with no real flavor. What really got me here was that the prices were really high for the type of food that I got. Truthfully, if I wanted what I got I would have just gone to Taco Time and it would have had more flavor than what I got at El Paraiso. read more

Second best Mexican in Everett after Avocado's. Portion size is kind of smallish for the price. They also keep an old lady in a box by the door. She gives out fresh tortiallas with salsa. (They are quite tasty, but you feel guilted into taking one and tripping her). Chorizo was very good. Margaritas are good, however,we paid the extra $2 for the bigger ones ($10 total) and received what we consider to be normal sized drinks. In their defence this seems to be the case everywhere. Excellent service by friendly staff, fresh tortillas & ingredients used, great menu variety, good meal options (ie: bean choices), large servings that are pleasantly garnished, plentiful chips/salsa/beans/pica-de-gallo, not rushed through meal service and welcomed to stay as long as desired, properly-made drinks, clean facility, street parking. One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Snohomish County! Upon arrival you are greeted and offered fresh made tortillas (with butter & salsa) at the tortilla bar. I recommend having monies for a tip, as there is a tip jar, yet not required. We have always been promptly seated, even on the busiest days. Immediately after or upon being seated, waitstaff bring water, chips/salsa/refried beans (you need to ask for pica de gallo (no charge just not an automatic serve)). Naturally beverage orders are promptly taken. If ordering refill allowable drinks, rest assured the friendly staff will in fact offer speedy refill service. Bar orders are promptly filled and the courteous staff will promptly offer more. The menu offers an excellent variety for appetites large and small. My favorite meal, when desiring a full meal, is the Chimichangas Vegetarianas. The dinner portion is always more than I can consume (yet leftovers rewarm fine the following day). I appreciate the meal presentation, such as the little tortilla bowl for beans (you can select which beans), slaw serving in the middle, and the garnishes on the chimichangas. There are times when I prefer a lite selection, and the sides portion of the meal is ideal then. In fact the single Taco Asada is a mere $4.25, and quite filling (especially when accommodated with chips and drinks). The ingredients taste fresh and as mentioned, attention to detail is impressive. The meal servings at El Paraiso are always arranged in a manner that is appealing. I like margaritas (not a beer drinker) and find multiple options available at El Paraiso. My preference is on the rocks, there are several options. The drinks are moderately priced but well-made! It is obvious that proper portions of alcohol are put into each drink, no skimping! The bar service at this particular location is superb! Seating within the bar is only stools, so if you are a booth person it is likely you will be more appreciative of the Snohomish location. However the bartenders at Colby are excellent at suggesting premium tequila options, drink variety, and they are always quick to serve (even when totally packed). I recommend visiting their website, for coupons available (ie: buy one meal & 2 beverages, get one meal). The normal pricing is mostly moderate, yet comparable to similar restaurants, but with delish meals versus the cookie-cutter options at corporate type Mexican restaurants. As mentioned, there are some incredible deals via the sides options. Drinks are moderately priced, yet excellent and obviously contain proper alcohol portions. We have dined at the Snohomish and both Everett locations. The Colby site offers seasonal outside dining. Because the parking is street only, this can be problematic when there are events at Comcast or other peek times. Residents of Marysville, it is worth the drive to any of the three locations: to receive the superb service, good meal, and well-made drinks! Importantly we are never rushed to vacate the booth or table, and service remains topnotch from arrival through to departure. read more

A restaurant with good food, decent hours and a nice atmosphere in Everett? I was beginning to think it wasn't possible. El Paraiso woo's you the moment you walk in the door. They beckon you in with a friendly smile, offer you a fresh warm tortilla with a little butter and salsa as they walk you to your table. The service is crisp and friendly. When I asked for my waiter's opinion on the Chile Colorado and Chicken Mole, he knew enough about both dishes for me to make an informed decision, even going as far as making suggestions on ways I could sample both. (Chile colorado inside the Chicken Mole Enchiladas. ) On the table they provide both a fresh salsa and a bean dip, the latter being interesting enough to lure me into eating the tortilla chips. Both the Chile Colorado and Chicken Mole were good. The meals are served with refried beans, rice and fresh tortillas in the case of the Chile Colorado. They serve hearty portions that sent me home with leftovers both times. They have a nice bar next door with great drink specials, and unlike many Everett Restaurants, they are open on the weekends and past 7pm in the evening. I'll be going back, happily. read more

A friend of mine once was riding his bicycle and was struck by a car. His face was pretty mangled for awhile, and he had some tough times obtaining tables, or even service, in some restaurants. Since then, I've been interested in the behaviour of wait staffs in general when I don't look my best. Yesterday, I didn't look my best when I sauntered into El Paraiso on the corner of California and Colby in downtown Everett. I was uniformly dirty from head to toe, wearing big ugly boots that you can see my socks sticking out of and dirty, oily blue coveralls. The hostess put me in the corner table, with windows on two sides of me. The best table, in other words. There wasn't a lot of other competition for this table on a Wednesday afternoon, but I thought highly of the fact that she seated me where everyone walking by on either street would see me. If one were to give that action of hers speech, it might say that they didn't care what their clintele looked like, their money was as good as anyone's. Or she might have just been daft, or possibly held a grudge against her employers. But I prefer to think that in a mill town like Everett, that anyone could walk into this restaurant and get the same table in similar circumstances. I went to the restroom to wash up a bit. When I returned, there was the requisite and ubiquitous tray of chips and salsa bowl. But, oho! That was not all, for there was also a bowl of refried beans! I've been to a lot of Mexican places, this is the first that gave me beans for my chips. Why have I not seen this before? I mean, it only makes sense. When I was growing up in eastern climes, I remember always going to the potato chip aisle of places like Piggly-Wiggly and Winn-Dixie (yes, those are real grocery stores where I've lived) and being confronted with Frito-Lay Bean Dip. And frankly, the whole idea of bean dip kind of scared me when I was younger. But this clearly was not that. This was too scrumptious to have ever seen the inside of a can! Not to mention the salsa with its own lively and fruity taste to it. Without a doubt, I could have had a king's meal of just chips, salsa and beans. Luckily for me, but probably even luckier for my wife and anyone else who would have to spend any time with me immediately thereafter, I didn't. I had the pollo al carbon, largely because I wanted to say poyo-al-car-BONE to the waitress. In retrospect, especially seeing it written that way, it makes me feel like a dirty old man. YUMMMMM :] My favorite food is Mexican and I have literally been to every mexican restaurant in Bremerton and Everett, including taco trucks :] El Paraiso is definitely up there!! I have to say the best part is the homemade tortillas the little lady makes as you walk in. She's only there during certain hours, but be sure to tip her! After all, they're 100% authentic!! The rest of the food is very good, I really love the sauce they use on their enchiladas. As all of you know, no enchilada sauce is the same. So, that's kind of a big factor for me. Also, I vowed to never eat fish tacos, but I ate them here and they were fantastic!! After coming back from an out to sea period, a group of my friends and I came here and scarfed down baskets of their fresh tortilla chips served with amazing salsa and refried beans. And our drinks? Wow! This place was so delicious and yummy! The staff are so welcoming with homemade tortillas with salsa inside. They recommended the fajitas, which I ordered and loved! My cousin got the tostada salad, which she thought was tasty. My mom really liked the carne asada burrito. Each dish was enough for two meals. We also got flan which was worth it. GREAT place! Really extensive menu. They'll offer you a freshly made tortilla when you walk in; take them up on it. Recommended by a local and a great recommendation at that. I ate with a group of folks from work and a customer. Everyone had something different and everybody was really happy with their food. What really struck me was the large number of vegetarian options on the menu. Having a vegetarian entree at a Mexican restaurant isn't always the easiest thing, and El Paraiso has a number of vegetarian options on the menu. I had Veggie Fajitas and they were simply outstanding. Carrots, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and probably more, prepared fajita style, along with guac, sour cream, pico, and rice and beans. Really, really superb; great service to boot. I'll be spending quite a bit of time in Everett and this downtown spot will be a regular stop on my rotation (nice bonus is that it's a block away from the new Marriott Courtyard that'll be my base of operations, but this place is definitely worth a drive!) read more

I live in Everett and if we go out for Mexican, we go here. The fresh, hand made corn tortillas they give you as you walk in the door are great, slathered with butter and their special salsa. FOOD BEFORE YOU SIT DOWN!!! What kind of crazy is THAT??? They are always quick to bring chips, salsa, and hot bean dip and to take your drink order when you are seated. The food generally comes out fast as well, sometimes TOO fast if you want to sit and visit a bit before you bury your face into a delicious entree because, if you're like me, conversation stops when you are shoveling good Mexican fare into your mouth-hole. Bad for a first date but perfect if you've been married a while. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive and are not at all hesitant to ask if you'd like more chips or refill your water glass. If you are a hot-n-spicy type ask for their "secret" house-made habanero/onion salsa that will give you the sweat you crave and the burn you need. I knocked it down a star because it is usually loud and some of the specialty entrees cost a bit more than I care to spend but I really DO like the food here. Additionally, you can always print a coupon online for money off a second entree with the purchase of the first plus two beverages and they have reasonable lunch specials. DANG... now I want some. I have eaten at all three El Paraiso locations, and I love all three. I am a huge fan of the home made tortillas that you get in the front of the restaurant at the Snohomish and Silverlake locations, but I don't think they do that at the Everett location. I went to this location more recently and had lunch with my hubby and MIL. We were promptly seated (despite the fact that they were SLAMMED) and our chips and salsa never went empty. Our drink and food orders were taken promptly, and it was probably only 10 or 15 minutes before we had our meals. I usually order carne asada, and they have a great lunch special. You get maybe 3/4 of the food that is in the dinner size, but it's half the price. It's still plenty of food. I love the grilled onion on top. When we are in the mood for mexican, this is often one of our first choices, and we pick the location based on where we are at the time of our decision. Service is always great! read more

My four-star rating comes with a condition: that you have a coupon. Otherwise, I would consider them to be three-star because of price vs food quality. I've been here over a dozen times and haven't had anything I didn't like. None of it was amazing, but it was all better than average. Their prices are a few dollars over what I would say their worth, but you can constantly find Buy-One-Get-One coupons for them. The place is very clean and they deal well with children. Total garbage. Stumbled on this place while in the area. Saw the 4 stars so thought I'd try it. How this place passes for edible food, much less Mexican / Latin is beyond me. To be fair they salsa served with the chips was quite good. But, I had the Taco and Chili Rellano lunch special. It was beyond disgusting. The Rellano was covered in breading so thick, it might as well have not had a pepper in it - sure couldn't taste anything but the breading and bad tomato sauce poured over it. The Taco - don't get me started. There was half a shell, the other half had disintegrated under the mess that was suppose to be chicken. It had no flavor whatsoever. Love love love this spot for my taco fix! Upon entering during dinner hours you're greeted with a complimentary warm fresh tortilla and house made salsa as a quick appetizer on your way to your seat. I frequent here often, it's great for a margarita, a pitcher of beer with friends or you're wanting to catch a game (they have several TV's in their bar area). This is hands-down the best Mexican food I've had in Western Washington. Everything is always fresh and delicious. They have an amazing selection of tequila, and have tequila samplers in case you are interested in trying different varieties. Hot, fresh flour tortillas being made on site doesn't hurt either! They serve the chips with fresh salsa and a hot bean dip. Yum! I'd knock off half of a star if I could because the service is somewhat hit and miss. Sometimes it's excellent, sometimes substandard. Even when the service is substandard though, the food is worth the hassle - just don't tip and reward them for lousy service. I have to give this place 5 stars because it's the epitome of what a neighborhood mexican restaurant should be! Their chips and salsa rock - chips are always warm, their salsa is delish and they also give you a side of bean dip that is also yummy. The only gripe is that I eat the chips and salsa too fast and it takes them a while (especially at lunch) to refill your chips and salsa. They have a huge menu and it's tough to make a choice at times. When we go for lunch, my co-workers seem to love the fajitas but I love their Avocado Tostada which is like an open face taco. It's a big plate and very satisfying. Food comes out fast and fresh and the prices can't be beat. I have to try heading there after work one day just to try their margaritas! Really cool vibe and decor inside. The salsa was the highlight for me. We sat at the "fire and ice table" in the bar area (literally a table with a gas fired art piece in the center), which felt nice on a cool evening and added a nice touch to the conversation with friends. The service and food were not great. The veggie burrito was bland and needed seasoning and the sauce on top had an unexpected sweetness to it, the food took a long time to come out, and the waiter completely forgot out drink order after taking a long time to even ask us for it. The service may be better in the main dining area as I think the area we were occupying may be an afterthought when it comes to the servers priorities. Decent restaurant that has potential. We continue to search for Mexican restaurants where the food is on par with what you find in the southwest. read more

Some friends of ours persuaded us to try this place again and I have to admit the experience was the polar opposite of my first visit. This time I tried the chili verde macho burrito. It was excellent. My wife had the super nachos with skirt steak and really enjoyed it too. I'll be back, although I will steer clear of the fajitas. My family and I have been eating here for almost 14 years and have never been disappointed! They are generous with their portions and and their spirit. The food is fantastic and a breath of fresh air. If you are tired of chain Mexican food places and want real authentic food...super fresh and served with a smaile this is the place for you. Their Margaritas are off the hook...and they have around 400 different Tequilas. I eat lunch here several times a week and they have a great coupon on their website and a punch card if you are eating alone! I keep hearing over and over how bad the Mexican food is in WA, well, guess those naysayers haven't been here because this place, my friends, is sooo good! Everything from the hot, fresh tortilla chips with the accompanied bean dip and fresh, spicy salsa, to my delicious mango lemonade, and finally, my yummy entree: vegetarian tamales (a rich, moist, blend of cheese, corn, and green chiles, topped with verde sauce), perfectly seasoned pinto beans and nicely seasoned mexican rice. Mmmmm! Our waitress and server were both super nice, never had to wait on refills or an eternity for the food or check. The only con I can think of is the $3 charge to add a tiny scoop of sour cream and guacamole to your main dish. Muy lame. read more

I've never had a spicy margarita with cilantro in my drink. 100% sure it was not mint leaves. The flavor of the cilantro took over the drink and it was not fun getting it stuck in my teeth. This is why I don't order mojitos because of the mint leaves getting stuck in your teeth, so it would be nice if the servers tell you that they add something like cilantro in a drink. *The food was average American style Mexican food. The prices are pretty reasonable. The customer service was great, our waitress was personable and funny. The restaurant was clean and organized. I used to order veggie fajita,: this evening it was onion fajita literally just onion 2 pieces of red pepper; the lettuce on the veggie burrito was really old.
