We came here about 3 years ago and haven't been back because we only gave it 3 stars due to the service. I'm glad we tried it again because it was 100% better! The food was delicious. I ordered the Carnitas en salsa Verde and it was very good, little spicy. My daughter got the enchiladas and said she wasn't hungry... But she managed to gobble every single bite down. I haven't had any legit chile verde since I moved here to Tennessee, it was very good just a lil spicy. read more

We stopped in here after a long lake day. We had a large party of 9 and were sat instantly. The place was kind of slow which is odd in our parts for a Mexican joint on Saturday. The service was okay. We had to ask for refills a few times and didn't have cutlery until after our food was delivered. I noticed shortly into the dinner that our server was handling the majority of the restaurant so I wouldn't knock him for that. He was doing well with what he had to work with. The food was really good. I had the fajita enchilada and smashed the whole thing. It was delicious. Everyone's food was! The only true negative was it's a dry county (no margs!!). read more

I went in for dinner with my grandparents. My grandparents have already had a not-so-great experience at El Paraiso a few years back, so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't as good as I thought it would be at first. However, El Paraiso proved me wrong over the course of the meal. The interior is adorned with colorful paintings and bright tables. We sat down and were greeted quickly, then we ordered our drinks. Soon, our drinks came out and we ordered the food. I ordered the Pollo con Arroz with chicken and no vegetables. Our food arrived pretty quickly and we started eating. My food was flavorful and delicious! El Paraiso surpassed my expectations and the service was great! Our server, whose name I forgot, checked on us frequently. The salsa is just tomato sauce, no cilantro, seasoning, or onion. They do have pico for $1.50 that is okay to eat with chips. The ground beef in taco has NO flavor, salt, etc. The tamale has really thick masa, filled with dry chicken and topped with a beef tomato sauce. The servings are huge, but not great. I have eaten here 100 times. Always get the same dish pollo con crema. Tonight it was terribly OVERSEASONED. I dont know if it was an accident but my blood pressure went crazy I could taste nothing but the seasoning. Surprising since its one of my favorite places to dine. read more

We go there nearly monthly and totally enjoy the place. The wait staff is courteous and friendly. I would LOVE to know what seasonings they use on their shrimp! They are alone worth the trip! This place is located about twenty minutes from the lake that we're staying on. It's on Main Street, but that didn't seem like your average Main Street. It's in a small strip mall, with IGA being the highlight of that mall. It was a pleasant surprise to find Mexican food, my favorite fare, in such a rural setting. The restaurant itself is a bit small. We were there at lunch and the lunch priced menu items were plentiful and cheap. I ordered the Fiesta salad and it was priced at $5.75. It is quite small, but it's actually about the same size as any taco salad, minus the shell and sour cream. Instead of shredded cheese, they allowed me to get cheese sauce. That stuff hardened quick though, so hurry and eat it while it's liquified. My daughter ordered the chicken fajita nachos and those things were huge! The service was good and the two waiters never let our cups reach the bottom. Overall I'd go again if I come back to this beautiful area again. read more

I went to this restaurant one afternoon for lunch. Our waiter never checked on us...not once. He gave me my drink and it was never filled up again. It took nearly one hour to receive my food. I ordered tacos...tacos! You can slap tacos together in a few minutes. Thank god I don't have diabetes, if I did, I would have had a low for sure. I will say that the food tasted nice once I received it, but I almost never did. The waiter never once apologized or asked if he could get us anything else. He dropped the food on our table and left. Also, my grandpas tooth fell out after we ate here...I'm serious! Overall, you won't catch me here again. We ordered our entree's( for supper) to go first of all! i ordered mine w/o cheese just because! i start to dig in and i REALLY got a soft taco with only meat inside!!! No tomatoes, no anything! My fiance got a Burrito dinner with refried beans and all the works! It was all floating in a watery sauce!! (looked like slop)! Could not eat it at all!! I did eat some of mine. About an hour later i started vomiting ! Few minutes later both ends let LOOSE!! After a couple hours doing this, I was feeling Better! got everything out of my system!! Shewie!! Good food but a tad high. If you live in Grainger County the price may not be an issue since driving to the next county for mexican food doesn't have to be factored in. My family decided to grab a quick bite on a Friday afternoon. We were seated immediately and the waitress was prompt with our drink order and chips n salsa. We ordered Nachos, a new Dinner Entree called 'buritto loco' & our teenage son ordered a few tacos and a beef burrito. The food was delivered to our table within 10 minutes of ordering. Everything was HOT & FRESH. The orders were certainly large enough to feel full & have some to take home for later. The fried ice cream is presented well & was big enough to share between the three members of my family! Our entire order was $35.
