Our service was terrible. We hardly seen our waitress and had to ask other waiters for things. Come to find out, our waitress was talking on the phone in a bathroom stall. The only stall with a diaper changing table I might add. The restaurant entrance smelled of sewage from the bathrooms. And the food was way less than spectacular. The chips were at least warm and tasted good. The salsa is just blended pico de Gallo. The taco meat honestly tasted like a similar flavor from Vienna sausages. I'm reading all the 1 and 2 star reviews and scratching my head. We've been going here for several years with no real issues (except a chile rellano that was cold in the middle, but was replaced immediately with a hot one). I learned my lesson about going on a Friday evening... the place is always packed and just too busy for my comfort. But during the week, especially for lunch, it's one of the best places in town. I highly recommend their chile rellanos. They are literally the best I've found (except for one made by an authentic Mexican friend, which is who turned me on to them), even in New Mexico! My husband loves their refried beans (more than any other local Mexican eatery). We've eaten in as well as called ahead for pick up orders. Service has never been a problem, except, as I said, on the Friday evening when they were insanely busy and there was a line of customers waiting for tables. But even then, my server was prompt, courteous, and friendly. read more

I had an absolutely delicious meal and great customer service. The salsa served with chips was fresh and tasty. I had steak fahitas. The portion size of the entree and sides was generous. The steak marinated so it was tender and flavorful. I know you don't typically go to a Mexican restaurant and have sweet tea but this was the best tea I have had in years. I actually love this place, so it's probably kind of weird that I'm giving it 2 stars. Let me explain. This location was amazing when it first opened. Loved it. The original La Cascada opened right down the street from my house in Logan, Ohio when I was still in middle school I think, so I've been rolling with them for a long time. The quality varies. This is a place that you are sometimes happy that you took friends and family from out of town and sometimes you aren't. The chips are sometimes stale and sometimes they aren't. Sometimes the salsa sucks and sometimes you want to buy it by the gallon. You get the picture. If the consistency was there, this place would have a higher rating. I am nostalgic and admittedly a creature of habit and that's why I love it, but I don't expect anyone else to have the patience that I have in waiting for them to get their menu and dining experience together. Also, every time I meet my sister here for lunch, no matter what day it is, it is mostly empty. I don't get out much around dinner time because I work 2nd shift, so I don't know what it's like then. We thought this restaurant had some of the best flavored chicken we have ever had at Mexican restaurants. We like a lot of flavor/spice, though! It's a little bit more pricey than most Mexican restaurants, but we think it was worth the extra flavor! There are no words to describe the horrible service. This was my first and last visit. We went there to celebrate a birthday and it was a big group. I get that can cause delays. Been eating here for 7 years and though not a frequent customer, have had enough experiences to state that this restaurant has failed to manage efficiently through Covid. We ate there about 3 months ago when we were almost through the pandemic. While other restaurants have had a professional streamlined system, this place seemed clunky. We were taken to an overflow section and stuffed in a booth and literally forgotten about. We watched the 2 tables being bussed which were completely trashed with food strewn all over the table. The way the tables were bussed made me cringe. I got the impression that they didn't refresh their rags with fresh sanitizer. We watched other tables being served and it took about 10 minutes for a waitress to come to us. Her attitude was that we were not very important- like sitting in the overflow section somehow made us lower class. We shared the same menu and she had a glum personality. It was a minimalistic experience, but it didn't make the experience special at all. The covid signage was misspelled and the entire place looked dingy and dirty. Obviously they get busier on the weekends, but sometimes it can be a little questionable about service due to the staff size on the weekends. So we went in and my wife is about knocked over by some kid (who we later noticed worked there) at the door. Next we were seated and the menus where greasy and so was the table. Waited about 2 hours for my food to arrive and if a new waitress wasn't there to help fill drinks it would have taken our waitress "manager" over 40 minutes to get those who were not drinking alcohol a beverage. we had an amazing server!!! the kitchen definitely had some issues. had ordered a beef burrito with rice and beans. the rice was the only good thing out of it as for the beans were burnt and server even said they looked burnt although he wouldn't know because they have food runners... the beef that was in the burrito was definitely over cooked and not the exact texture. i was very unhappy with the manager and the snobby looks after telling her the issues and not even a have a good day when leaving after paying and when we got there they weren't busy , didn't have a line out the door until about 30 min after we sat down for them to come tell us the kitchen was backed up because they were "busy" definitely not going back. 3 stars for the server as for he only checked on us thee times and didn't refill 2 of our drinks the entire time... read more

As a typical rule of thumb, I use 3-strikes. In all experiences here for lunch and dinner, we were treated rudely and the food was not good. We are polite and patient diners. Food and drinks were slammed on the table without a word. Upon entering, the hostess looked down, and walked away, as a mild-mannered smiling family of 3 stood there to be seated. Then someone else who was clearly agitated came to seat us. They appear to have a lot of internal turmoil here, and the customers receive less than adequate service. This is truly a wonderful place to eat if you're in Lancaster, Ohio with a taste for Mexican food. It wasn't very busy when my roommate and I arrived which we actually enjoyed since it was quiet except for the TV's. We actually caught the tail end of the lunch special (3:06 pm to be exact and the waiter was SO nice to give it to us as it should have ended at 3pm) which were each under $7! I ordered the lunch special that consisted of a beef burrito, beef taco, and rice with a cheese quesadilla for a starter. My roommate ordered another lunch special with a taco, rice, and guacamole salad. While waiting for our meals we were served fresh warm tortilla chips that were slightly salty but still good especially with the complimentary salsa. I also ordered my usual water with lemon and I wanted something more with the water so I choose unsweetened ice tea. For there not being many customers at this time (it was a Monday afternoon) our food took the right amount of time I felt which was approximately 15 minutes. We were pretty hungry so we did end up getting a second bowl of chips (also warm) before food arrived. The only issue I had was the cheese quesadilla I ordered as an appetizer came with the meal but since everything came out at once it wasn't that big of a deal and we were hungry. These lunch specials were what you would (and should) expect from a decent Mexican restaurant. Variety. That's what I love the MOST about Mexican food is the variety you can have. La Cascada was no exception. With my meal there was enough different tastes and choices that gave me a wonderful feeling with my food. The beef/meat was pleasant but nothing that stood out with the taste; it was good and actually not too salty for my liking. The rest was plentiful and the portion was actually a little much more than I could handle in one sitting (I blame the chips actually) so I ended up taking it home. My roommate finished (barely) her meal but we both left pleasantly full and all for around $20! This is another reason to love Mexican food is the price to food and portion ratio. A good Mexican restaurant will and should ALWAYS give a plentiful portion for any meal and La Cascada most definitely provided that! I look forward to trying something else next time, maybe a different lunch special. We shall see and I look forward to it. read more

The food was wonderful...the staff serving us on the otherhand were not so wonderful. Waitress was not friendly to start with. She took our orders, walked away, then came back with questions. After she walked away, another staff came back with questions by saying "what's the problem?". This happened multiple times before we got our food. Food came and order was still wrong. Charged us for the wrong items and said we were charged that because we ate the food that was given to us....we didn't order it nor did we eat it! This was our second visit. We were seated in a timely manner. That being said, the restaurant was mostly empty and no one at the bar. We had a long wait for a server. We had our drinks and then had to ask for some chips and salsa. I do not recommend the iced tea, not good, I needed something different to drink. When the basket of chips arrived, it only had a handful of chips. Food came out in a normal amount of time and was good. That's the reason for the second star. Drink refills were clearly too much to ask for. When it was time for me to pay, I waited for over five minutes for anyone to notice me. The employee who was covering the register was too busy eating, we were the only patrons left in the restaurant. They had difficulty making change, due to no money in the cash register.
