Ever since I moved to NoVA I have been on the hunt for some good Mexican food! El Paso in Springfield isn't far from my job! I stopped by one day after work for takeout and was not disappointed! My go-to order is the Chori-Pollo -- which is sliced chicken, chorizo, smothered in queso, rice, and beans (I always ask for black instead of refried). It's incredible and it comes with tortillas so you can mix the goodness up and make little tacos with it. read more

Coming from Texas, I have missed a good Taco Tuesday, El Paso Mexican Restaurant hit the spot. $35 for 20 tacos on Tuesdays! Their Lengua has a 50 cent up charge per taco but it is quite worth it. As you can see, they load up their taco, the barbacoa is very juicy and el pastor is solid. It comes with two servings of rice and beans which I found quite delicious too. The chips and salsa were quite disappointing, it did not feel home made but I feel like I shouldn't complain since it is free. I would suggest having the chips with the bottled salsas since those are much tastier. The interior of the restaurant is an explosion of color and decor, this adds to the dining experience. Came in after work for enchiladas. Immediately greeted and provided a menu when I said I was ordering take-away. The restaurant was very busy with early diners. I came around 5pm. Requested three enchiladas, black beans, refried beans and rice forgot the name of the other beans. It's always lively inside the restaurant with Mexican music playing. The enchiladas were so good. They use corn tortillas, which I wasn't expecting and the enchilada sauce was a nice compliment to all three bean choices. I opted for no rice and got refried beans on the side. Heard alot of great things about this place so had to stop by! Weekend dinner is definitely packed so there was wait but went by fairly fast. I ordered the pick two with a beef enchilada and a chicken quesadilla. The beef enchilada was great & the meat was flavorful & not dry! The chicken quesadilla was okay. The cheese was not fully melted all the way through & didn't have much flavor but nothing a little hot sauce couldn't solve. The complimentary salsa was amazing!!! This was the best price for any meal we have had in the area since we lived here. It's a little bit of a drive for us but completely worth it. Drinks and dinner for four was $140! The food was amazing. We had leftovers for two days. And the burritos...huge! Our waitress kept up with the drinks and was very sweet. The bathrooms were clean and the whole place was well kept. I came in here recently for dinner and the food was outstanding. I got the shrimp fajitas. They were very spicy and well cooked. They came hot like a with the typical fajita ingredients, except that the meat was shrimp. The restaurant had an authentic Mexican decor--all of the booth seats and chairs had wooden carvings of Mexican rural life on the back. There was a musician playing the guitar and singing Mexican folk songs. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and all of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The prices were moderate. So glad I finally found this place! Tucked away from the hustle of the mall area, it was a nice escape from holiday shopping. We arrived right after opening and the location was very clean with attentive employees. Service was very fast even though we were trying to relax a bit. The chori-mixto was a hit! They give so many tortillas I was able to take some home for dinner. Jose's mariachi burrito presentation almost made my son not want to open it up! Burrito was packed with deliciousness. If you've read any of my reviews, you already know I love a good California burrito -- especially one loaded with French fries. If you're anything like me, let me introduce you to El Paso Mexican Restaurant and their massive surf and turf burrito. This San Diego-style monster is stuffed with grilled steak, shrimp, French fries, pico de gallo, cheese, and avocado slices, and it's served with rice and beans on the side. It's so delicious and addicting that I could honestly eat it every day. Meanwhile, my husband really enjoyed the spicy enchiladas ranchera. Visited El Paso for the first time. There are two different seating areas. The front area is a lot brighter. The back area was not as good with lighting. Chips and salsa were brought to the table right away. I was not sure what I wanted so the chips and salsa hit the spot. I ended up ordering the quesadilla Hawaiana which was a quesadilla with chorizo, pineapple and chicken. The quesadilla was massive and could easily be shared by two people. I also ordered a frozen margarita that was served with a Mexican popsicle. The popsicle added a nice touch to the margarita once it started to melt. As a lover of Mexican food, this restaurant is exactly what I would envision. Great portions, greasy delicious food, and wonderful accommodation staff. The appetizer of elote was so fantastic, sometimes I still dream about it. The drink were very good and they have a good happy hour. The only downside was we were celebrating a birthday and I was told El Paso did some sort of birthday thing for its guests (clapping for them or something). Of the Mexican restaurants I've been to in the DMV, this is definitely one of my favorites. If you are looking for an extremely authentic Mexican experience, this is not it. However, if you want a more Americanized Mexican experience or to eat in a place where you get unlimited free chips and salsa, and option for white queso dip, and decently priced, entrées, then you are in the right place. We came here with a group of five on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. We loved seeing that they had lunch specials even on weekends.lunch specials are about $12. We came here with Kids and the kids menu offers six or seven different options, including a quesadilla and mac & cheese for the picky eaters. Kids meals cost $9 and include a beverage. Guacamole: good but needed salt and lime. The folks I came with really liked it, but I spent too many years in California and make my own bomb guacamole for it to not be bussing. Combo lunch special ($12): very filling and pretty good. I got an enchilada Verde with shredded chicken and a pork tamale. The verde sauce was actually spicier than I expected. I really do like their rice here. I'm typically not a fan of refried beans, but those were pretty good here, too. The service here is fast and they're good at anticipating your needs. I got seated before the rest of my party arrived and within 30 seconds, they were there to take drink orders, and bringing chips and salsa. The free salsa is more on the tomato-ey side. But if you add a little hot sauce or salt or both, it's great. My biggest issue with this place is that they don't have Coke products. They do sell Mexican Coke, but in terms of fountain drinks, it's only Pepsi. Anyway, I'll be back. read more

I've been to the Alexandria location before and this one is just as good! We loooooved the birria tacos (which comes with the consommé, beans, and rice). You can't go wrong with lunch here on the patio when the weather's good. The inside of this place also looks just like you'd want a Mexican place to look. The lunch steak fajitas were awesome, a ton of fresh tasty Mexican food served nice and hot with lots of steak, peppers, onion, lettuce, guac, rice, beans, and tortillas. I was hungry and still barely able to finish everything. It goes perfectly with a Corona-rita for a lunch with friends. Service was fast and friendly here and they kept the chips and salsa refilled. I've been here a few times now and each time I leave, I say the same thing. The prices are fairly good, but the meat is always dry. They do give decent portions, but I'd prefer quality over quantity. This is a very casual, family-friendly place. They do get busy, especially during weekends. Service in my experience has been just ok, not that great. If you have a taco fix and you eat a lot, this might be the place for you. But if you want better food, I'd go elsewhere. read more

The service is great - I've been a loyal customer since about 2016. I've noticed recently they haven't been including the guacamole and sour cream in Jose's Super Burrito for quite a while now, despite having them listed in the ingredients for the burrito on the menu. The burrito portion also seems to have gotten smaller, especially in comparison to the other locations. Disappointing, but overall the food there is solid if you're in the mood for Mexican cuisine. I just go here because its close to my house but they are very stingy on sauces and give only one pack for an order of four tacos and two lime which is barely enough for three tacos let alone four. I'm just going to drive for an additional 15 minutes and go to taco bamba and get delicious tacos with unlimited sauces. Not giving any additional money to a stingy business. read more

The interior is beautifully designed, very colorful. Ample parking. Easy to find. The chips are good! Thick, not the usual paper thin tortilla chips you generally find. Nice servers. Reasonably priced. I had the gringo tacos. LOTS of food. Do not be fooled, these are not the small street tacos you may be used to. They're full, fat, and delicious. A day at the spa sure can drive hunger. We found El Paso by happenstance while searching Yelp for quick eats on our way home from a girls day trip to Balian Springs. We had to hunt down our waiter but after that minor challenge, service moved fast. We were asked to sit outside as it was nearing dusk and the weather was perfect for a taco Tuesday. Our drinks stayed filled and serving sizes were huge. I had to pack up 2/3 of my savory quesabrilla (highly recommend). A friend and I ordered the tres leche cake to go but it barely it to the truck. Once a favorite neighborhood mexican spot, El Paso is underwhelming. The last couple visits we were served lukewarm food. Though the plate was hot, somehow the food was room temperature and cooled quickly. Service is always pretty quick, especially in the main dining area. sometimes, if seated in the back, your table might get a bit lost because it is unseen. My go to orders are the chimichanga and the carnitas plate. The portions are still generous, but I do wish the food came out hot. Pro tip: come before 430pm to snag the lunch specials!! 4.49 stars rounded off to a 4. There are several El Paso restaurants in the area and they are not the same. The Springfield location is the best of the lot. The Woodbridge location is OK, but we won't ever go again to the El Paso on Richmond Hwy near Quander Road nor the one on Cooper Street (it's hard to believe they all have the same owner). We have eaten at the Springfield location several times now. El Paso is definitely the most popular restaurant in Springfield. This a true Mexican restaurant, not like a number of restaurants in the DMV that have Mexican in their name but are really Salvadorean. My favorite item has to be the horchata. It is the best horchata I have ever had. Perfect flavor with a hint of creaminess. One of my favorite entrees is the Camarones Cancun, which is grilled shrimp served with cheese, onions, zucchini, and squash over Mexican rice. I also love the fried tacos de birria that contain birria de rez and cheese and are served with a consomé dipping sauce. These tacos (there are three in an order) are so rich that I will usually take one or two of them home. For an appetizer, I like the chori dip (cheese sauce topped with crumbled chorizo and served with tortilla chips). My old default Mexican dish, carne asada, is pretty good. The serving of beef is generous and the meat is quite tender. However, the last time we ate here I found the beef seems to have been seasoned with thyme, which is an offputting and inappropriate flavor for carne asada. Service is always excellent, and the atmosphere is lively. I like the Mexican music that is played at just the right volume. read more

Came here on a Thursday night. It was packed. Not just the restaurant but also parking lot. Luckily I was able to get a table pretty quick so A+ for service. Inside the restaurant there were lots of pictures and things to look at. Free chips and salsa are given when you sit down. I ordered the steak and shrimp platter with rice. It tasted pretty good. The waiter asked me how I would like it, I said medium but it came out well done. The steak was also pretty thin so not surprised it came out that way.
