    Goat and chicken tacos
    Shannon S.

I was hoping the goat tacos would compare to the amazeballs delicious ones Johnny Sanchez formerly made but unfortunately these were nowhere close and the goat didn't have much flavor. This was your basic Guatemalan joint and the tacos and fajitas were ok and decently priced but nothing really jumped out at me as being anything above average. I was also a bit sad they didn't have a Caldo de Pollo on their soup menu. So decent authentic food with slower than average service. It is alright if you are in the area but I wouldn't make another special trip to it. WARNING: They also are all about some karaoke in here!!!

We adore this little 'hole in the wall' restaurant! It's a wonderful little mom & pop place that turns out delicious and authentic Mexican fare. This is not Tex-Mex, its real food that tastes like someone just cooked it up fresh for you, because that's how it's actually made. My favorite is the carne asada, and my sweetie usually orders some of the the soft tacos.

Came here for a quick dinner with my girls. Amazing food, best service. Delicious flavors. My daughter had the steak tacos which were amazing and I had the Carne Asada with yellow rice and beans, soft steak and wonderful flavors. My eldest had the chicken quesadilla which was also amazing. I definitely recommend this place.

El Paso was pretty good, but I wasn't blown away. I came here for lunch and the place was dead except for me and my dining companion. The waitress was super nice, even though she seemed a bit more wrapped up in watching a talk show than taking our order, but that wasn't a huge deal. Once she came over, she dropped off some really good chips and salsa and we looked over the menu. I got the carnitas quesadilla which came with a side of sour cream and tomatoes. The quesadilla was pretty good, but I found the carnitas a bit dry. Other than that, it had good flavor and it made for a decent lunch. My friend got a burrito that looked outstanding and I think that I will get that next time. Service was a bit slow, but I would probably stop in for lunch again or to get a "to go" order. Just a note: they will give you water that isn't bottled if you specify and just tell them you want ice water.

Eating at this place makes me wonder- if people eat like this in Mexico; why come to the United States? Clean place with great native feel (they had fútbol on one screen and a telenovela on the other) with excellent cheerful service(our waitress decided the combinations of meat with tacos with sopes with gorditas upon us deciding we wanted to try six kinds of meat), and two of the most incredible hot sauces I ever tasted. I would say stick to the a la carte/tapas orders, grabbing a varied selection of tacos, sopes and gorditas. If one goes to El Paso one MUST get the cabeza taco, possibly one of the most flavorful beef dishes on the menu. All in all, perhaps the best all around experience I have had in a Mexican restaurant in the New Orleans area- not to be missed. The place definitely beats its numerous neighbors.

After finally finding a place to park we were told that it would be a 15-20 minute wait. We went to the bar to get a drink while waiting. We didn't even get a chance to order a drink because a table was ready that quickly. We didn't order an appetizer we just went straight to the meal. My wife ordered the fish taco dinner with corn tacos and I had the ground meat tacos with flour tortillas.Well, to make a long story short, the tacos were a big disappointment. My wife said the seasoning on the grilled fish tacos was nonexistent. Whenever we order tacos she usually gets the grilled fish taco's and she said these just weren't up to snuff. As far as my tacos they were pretty bad. They were greasy and gummy, a bad combination. I don't know if it was my fault that I didn't specify corn tortillas but I thought tacos were with corn tortillas unless you asked for flour tortillas. Anyway, I couldn't even finish mine..My wife washed hers down with a beer as did I. The service was great and there's a magician who goes around the tables doing magic tricks while you're waiting for your food. We loved him. It was almost worth going just to see him. For dessert my wife ordered the flan and I the 3 milk cake. Liked the cake a lot and the flan was okay. The restaurant was recommended so highly that we'll give them another try.

Hate the plastic glasses, but at least get the drink cold. COLD. An on-the-rocks margarita is not supposed to be lukewarm. This was. I strained into my water glass and added ice, let it cool, and poured it back in the margarita glass. There were three of us and two of our three orders came out wrong (one specifically asked for NO cheese and it was covered in it). Mine was a "Caesar" in menu name only. A Caesar is a RECIPE. Imagine ordering chicken cordon bleu and getting pork, bacon and cheddar. Or a BLT and getting salami, avocado, and bell peppers. That's what it is like when you order a Caesar and it's not a Caesar. It was that far off of what a Caesar is. Call it an El Patron Chef Salad. Call it a House Salad. But a Caesar doesn't have avocado, tortilla strips (???), red onions and tomatoes. What it does have? Dressing. This one did not and was room temperature. Even with the dressing (which obviously isn't homemade but was serviceable) still not a Caesar. Caesars in good restaurants are on a chilled plate but that's minor (this was frankly out-of-the-dishwasher warm) compared to it NOT BEING a Caesar. Wasn't very busy (we were in the big room with all the slices of trees on the wall) had about five tables and 15-17 people total? Service was pretty slow. The server was very nice, but the fact that I'm having to tell the server that a Caesar is supposed to have Caesar dressing (which they do carry. The kitchen just hadn't put it on anywhere on the salad.) speaks to a lack of training. Salsa was average, but not exceptional. Overall, completely middle of the road. I'm Coloradan and I'm used to amazing Mexican food and this was below average. Hence the three stars. If Yelp had a 1-10 scale it would get a 3 or 4.

Today I wanted something different and inexpensive. I checked Yelp, saw it was right there, and had to talk myself into it because I eat tacos ALL the time... like I'm lowkey taco'd out. But something about authentic tacos on corn from a lil shack like this? They hit different. So I went with my move. I looked at the menu and saw tongue tacos... and that sold me Mind you, I NEVER had tongue before. But I said I wanted something different, so let's stand on that. Pulled up around lunch--about 3 people waiting. There's an option to call ahead too. I waited a few minutes, but they acknowledged me quick, and you could tell they were working, so I wasn't tripping. Ordered 3 tacos: tongue (of course), shredded beef, and pork. Threw in pupusas because why not--it's been years. And a melon juice. Total was about $29, got my number, waited maybe 8-10 minutes. When they handed me the bag... it had a little weight on it I already knew. I ate in my car since there's no real inside seating, and started with the pork taco. Now listen... pork tacos can be DRY. I don't really order them for that reason. But THIS one?? Juicyyyyy. Like juices-on-my-shirt type juicy (I'm too grown for that ). Flavor was there, shredded perfect--they changed my whole outlook on pork tacos. Then I tasted the other two because they looked similar. First one ended up being the tongue... and babyyyy. Tender. Soft. It reminded me of goat--real rich and flavorful. I can't even believe I tried it, let alone LIKED it. I'm officially sold. The beef was good too, but after that tongue taco? It was hard to compete, I'm not even gonna lie. That red salsa? Flavorful with a kick. I love spice... but spice don't always love me back Still worth it. The melon juice started off a little grainy (you can tell it's real fruit), but once it settled, it smoothed out. Super refreshing. Now them pupusas... I did NOT expect two. That's why the bag felt like that Stuffed with meat and cheese, crispy on the outside, soft inside. Came with the pickled cabbage/carrot mix and that tomato-based sauce--everything worked together. Not spicy, just balanced. Only thing I'd note--no prices listed, but for everything I got (plus that big 32oz drink), it was honestly worth it.

Clean dining area with lots of natural light. (Yes, this is a thing for me.) Husband had the Crispy Flautas w/chicken, and I went for the Trio Plate with a chicken quesadilla, a pork pupusa and a beef enchilada with the green salsa as recommended by Rosalinda. When the plate came out, I thought I was in heaven! My husband enjoyed his flautas, and I loved what I ordered! I wish I had taken a picture because it was beautiful, but I dove right in. Each item was exactly one person size, so I ate without overeating and didn't feel like I wasted anything. Four stars is simply for the rice and beans being "lackluster," (maybe offer an alternative, like a salad or cup of soup?), and once people started coming in - and they did - service got a bit stretched. Would I go back? Absolutely! Lots of choices to experience. Our meals, 2 sodas and a Corona w/tax before tip was $41.

(I requested these items first) I also ordered a cheese quesadilla with a side of beans, an order of pupusas and a chimichanga. When I asked if I could have the side of beans, our waitress said to me: what beans? I said the side of beans I ordered with the quesadilla and then she responded with: that's not the type of quesadilla I ordered. I said ok, can I please have a side of beans, then she replied the quesadilla comes with rice and beans already. Alright! Then the waitress asked me if I wanted something to drink I said a sweet tea please. My tea never arrived. After we received our meals, she never came to check on us; after we finished eating 15 mins passed when my husband decided to load the kids in the car. I asked someone else for to go boxes because our waitress was on a cellphone. The hubs went to pump gas in the car and still no sign of the check. I got up and went to the front to try to pay because I needed to go. And no, not impressed with the steak tacos with the chopped meat.
