It is a relaxed atmosphere, you could be in a hurry or just cruising the town... take it easy and enjoy the food. Authentic. Very tasty. Many options that you won't find at other places. Really quick service. Family owned, so you always get treated with a smile. Very affordable.

It's an open area on the lower level of what used to be a mini-mall. There are offices and shops on the main floor and Los Amores is downstairs. If you have trouble with stairs, there is an elevator but you have to search for it. It's not immediately noticeable from the street level. This seems to be a family-run restaurant. Since it was so late for lunch there weren't many people there, but I heard one woman say she comes there every day for lunch. I got the shrimp tacos and added avocado slices. The tacos were very good! We also got fried ice cream and THAT was terrific. I would definitely come back. I didn't care for the complimentary chips and salsa. Don't know why, but that's just what I thought at the time. There was a sign saying they have Trivia Night and other events throughout the week.

I might ever eat liver if it was covered in that green sauce...well, maybe not! I think between my husband and son they have ordered at least half of the menu and have not found one thing that they did not rave about. The small establishment is inviting and the service is wonderful! You absolutely can't go wrong with Mexican Grill. The family will make you anything you want and anyway you want it. They feature some unique items on their menu, and everything I have ever tried has been delicious. My favorite is the veggie quesadilla, it is very different than the average quesadilla that is served at other Mexican restaurants. I always order the platter that comes with rice and beans, because both are excellent. The red sauce has heat but is very flavorful. I always order extra red sauce to take home. If you don't care for hot sauces but enjoy flavor you can mix a little sour cream into the red sauce to make it milder. Service is always friendly and helpful. Tortas Johann is the best reason to visit Kokomo!

The extensive menu covers all of the usual Mexican(-American) bases, with the usual tacos, tortillas, flautas and so on. The molcajetes were a delicious surprise. Served as a dish for two, they're served in hot stone bowls with a plethora of tastiness. Ours had steak, chicken, nopales on a rice bed, topped with a mango/tomatillo pico. The meat was excellent. I expected "steak" but was very pleasantly surprised by a tasty, medium rare steak that was perfectly seasoned. Every dish we had excelled in flavor. The one glitch was that I was served mango after informing our (otherwise excellent) waiter that I'm allergic, and being assured that they'd swap the pico for a non-mango version. That said, he immediately apologized, brought me a (complementary) plate with all of the main goodies in the dish, and was gracious and helpful. You can tell a lot about somehow by how they handle it when they make a mistake, even a serious one, and Hugo scored full marks.
