3-3.5 out of 5 from me but I'll tell you what pushed this review to 4 for me. My future mother-in-law and I went here today to grab some dinner for the four of us (her husband and my fiancé and I. We usually go to Dos Molinos when I'm in town so I was curious to try a different Mexican place. I tried calling them twice to ask a question about their taco menu but I got a busy tone. My FFIL got through and was able to place an order for takeout. I had a chicken quesadilla, which was large but just okay; a steak taco, which was HUGE and tasty but I wouldn't say traditional (it had cheese and no cilantro); and an Al Pastor taco which I haven't tried yet, because I was full. The rest of our party ordered Camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp) and fajitas, and everyone enjoyed them. The reason they get 4 stars from me is they included like two to three BAGS of tortilla chips and like six small portions of salsa for free, even though some of the salsa accidentally opened in the takeout bag. That's beyond generous. I will say we did order guacamole too and it was a teeny portion, but we had all the chips to go with it. My FMIL also said they seem to give larger portions with takeout vs in-restaurant, FYI. Overall I'd order from here again but Dos Molinos has more authentic tacos IMO. However, prices were good; entrees were about $12, my quesadilla was $5.50, and the a la carte tacos range from $1.99-$2.99 each. read more

The seating area to the back and right of that had a rather greasy feel and floor but it's near the kitchen soooo... We like the place and the food. We get take out more than eat in. Made a to go order of five meals. I had the fish tacos. They were good and all the meals were as expected. Price was very reasonable. The woman that took the order was very friendly and helpful. I have been to this location several times in the past, however, this was my first time to order take out. Order was ready on time and with extra chips and salsa at no extra charge. Not very often I give five stars, but this place fulfills all the criteria I use for five stars. (Price, quality, friendliness, helpfulness, cleanliness and timeliness). read more

From out of town, so in-between soccer games we came here as it is close to the high school. Party of 13. Sat right away. Service was efficient, but not at all friendly. We assumed we had caught our server right at the end of his shift, as it was 3pm. Drinks are weak. Menu is way too large-wings and burgers at a Mexican food establishment? It was literally pages and pages of items. Portions are enormous, and all orders were correct. We had so much leftover. Salsa is little more than tomato sauce, and food seemed to lack seasoning. Don Pancho Villa was busy both times I was nearby on Wednesday so I tied it for dinner. It is larger than it looks from the outside so don't let a full parking lot deter you. Warm welcoming atmosphere. Got the free Chips n Salsa and voluminous menu and ordered a Jarritos. When the waiter returned I ordered the Choripollo. I've been frequenting taquerias of late and haven't had this in years. I was enjoying the chips with the mild salsa that I whacked with the bottled Of Yucatán on the table. When I realized that I was watching a never ending stream of food emerging from the kitchen. My waiter assured me mine was next My meal arrived on a hot platter. A large portion of chicken sprinkled with chorizo and covered with melted cheese accompanied by refrained beans and rice. Tasty and a good value. read more

Everyone's "had better," but probably not on this side of the Mississippi. No, it's not "authentic" Mexican (i.e., bizarre cuts of meat and no cheese), and it's not what you get in southern California either, but for northern Indiana, it's pretty doggone good. The fish tacos are fantastic, as are the shrimp nachos (you have to ask for them). Also, ask for the hot salsa if you like things on the spicier side. The stuff they give the rest of the gringos is good, but the hot salsa is really something special. I'm a pescetarian, but I hear the chicken is superb. Also, great margaritas. My wife and I try to eat here once a week. I suggest you give Don Pancho Villa try. He may have been a violent Mexican revolutionary, but his restaurant gets two thumbs up from me! read more

I have frequented this business plenty of times so this review won't be a one & done. They have many good options, I usually get the chimichangas. I've never ordered anything I did not enjoy. The de facto free chips and salsa are offered and they keep the free refills coming. The staff is generally very friendly, if hurried. They sometimes have to cover a lot of ground so they have to step away a lot but they'll usually be back around & quickly attentive. The food is consistently good and the portions are very big, especially for the price. One of the best places to fill up on quality Mexican food on the cheap in the 'Mo. Nice decor, fairly clean. It can get crowded and noisy as a lot of families with kids come so if you want a quiet evening, forget that but totally worth it for a nice casual place to eat. read more

I have been to this location three times. Both of the previous times were great. The food is good and the service was decent. However, I just took my mother as a birthday gift, and she ordered a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was good until she found a drowned fly in it. She pulled the fly out and put it on her plate. When we told the wait staff, we were given a dirty look while the plates were removed from the table. We showed the waiter the drowned fly. We were still charged full price for the drink, and when we let the staff taking our payment method know that there had been a fly in our drink, he gave us a look indicating that he didn't believe us. An apology would have been nice. An acknowledgment that "yes a fly is pretty gross" would have been better. But being treated badly because we brought it to their attention that a fly had been floating in our drink was pretty bad. I doubt that we will be returning. read more

Came here with co workers for a quick lunch. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and and shrimp chimichanga. Everything was delicious and came out hot. The chips were warm. The ceviche was light and fresh with a lot of flavor. Our server was a guy and he was super friendly. We had a party of 8 and it didnt take too long for our food to come out at all. Went on a Friday night and was blown away, as usual! Went at 8pm had a table right away. Ordered the fajitas stake and kid ordered 2 stake tacos wife ordered the enchiladas. The food came before the kid was half done with the first drink, very fast about 7min tops. always have plenty of food but only 3 shells had to ask for more. Ate all that was served belly hurt from too much but it was worth it. had to tip the cook first time ever it was that good.not just saying that I eat there once a month and it is always great. Margaritas were a little strong but also to the moon and back that good. Waiter was always checking in and ask to speak with the manager, let him know that I am very pleased with the way everything was. Recommend the cheese for the chips yummy. read more

The food isn't bad, but I've had less than positive experiences with the service here. I don't enjoy the cheese sauce they use, so I order things that don't come with it, but twice when I've done that my food has arrived smothered in the sauce anyway. I've also asked to have cheese added to dishes and specified that I wanted shredded cheese, not the cheese sauce, and both times I received the cheese sauce instead. Everything else about the food and my meals have been fine, not terrible, not amazing. We eat here once a month or so. read more

Waited literally 25 minutes and had to aśk another server for menus . 45 minutes and two visits inside looking for a server and calling the place to get service we got up and left. This is the absolute best place to get a frozen margarita with salt on the rim in Kokomo. The food is usually good and fresh more often than not. The chips and yummy salsa keep coming and you can pay extra for some white cheese to dip your chips in and it's worth it. Great service! read more

I have been here probably 50x and the food is not bad, except for tonight. Ordered shrimp tacos, and the SHRIMP WERE NOT DE-VEINED!! I did not notice until after my second taco. I mentioned this to the server, and he said he would tell the manager. The cooks here either don't know or don't care that shrimp must be cleaned!!!! I ate poop this evening! If you like Mexican food than this is the place to go. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Kokomo. We always go here for birthdays and special dinners. My family and friends love Mexican food. In the past we have tended to go to Don Ponchos, specifically the Dixon Road location, because it's close for everyone. While the food is decent, it's nothing extra special, but good for American Mexican. I would give the restaurant a higher rating if it weren't for the extreme unfriendliness of the cashier, who also seats the guests. Her attitude has made us think twice about frequenting this restaurant where we virtually never feel welcomed. Friends have said to me regarding people from Mexico, "it's probably just their culture." Let me say this, I travel to Mexico often, I love the food and enjoy the people. Being "rude and unfriendly" is not part of their culture, it's just and excuse for poor customer service and insult to the good people from that country. I would encourage this establishment and any one like it to treat their patrons with respect, if you have an employee who has a dysfunctional personally do not put them at the Front of House! The Front of House should be where you put your best foot forward. I'm speaking from experience, I have managed a large restaurant and know first hand how important customer relations can be. read more
