First things first: when coming home from Denver airport there are some non special chain restaurants that I always pass by. Am I glad I took a chance here! The menu is EXTENSIVE. Something for everyone. Lots of options. We started with some regular house margs which were just what you'd expect. Pretty decent. Chips and salsa were not special but they did the job. I really only liked the green one. Chips were crispy and tasted authentic and homemade. Next we split the fish tacos which were plenty big for two with a smallish appetite. It was four of us today trying this restaurant for the first time. Staff was very friendly. The place was clean, nicely decorated and great menus. Seemed new. My friends had different plates. We all had big portions. From fish tacos, shrimp enchiladas and enchiladas verdes. My three friends gave 3/5 to their plates. They found them to be ok. I had the carnitas plate. Initially, it tasted good but as I kept eating noted the dish was very salty. Like in many other restaurants in the area, the gratuity was included so with one alcoholic beverage, my bill alone was around $47 (a drink and one dish). Not sure we would visit again. read more

This place is HELLA expensive. Like probably more expensive than La Loma downtown but without as good of food. I got the birria meal, and while it was decent, it wasn't worth the price. We do like the decor and what they've done to the new place, but come on...you're not competitive with that pricing. You gotta take it down a notch for this neighborhood or else you won't make it! You can go down the street and get just as good of food at a truck for a fraction of the price. Service was fine I guess, but what are we coming for? Find yourself, El Patron! Stopped into El Patron after getting stranded on a work trip with a dead phone, and they seriously made my day better. Betty, the bartender, was kind enough to charge my phone while I ate. Even though I missed breakfast, they still made me the steak chilaquiles, and they were so good. The steak was packed with flavor, the chips and salsa were amazing, and the mimosas definitely helped me forget I was technically still working. If you're staying at one of the nearby hotels, this place is absolutely worth checking out. Great food and even better people. read more

Im staying at a nearby hotel for work, and decided to give this place a shot. It's walking distance to many hotels in rhe area. The portions are very large. I ended up getting the tortilla soup. I ate about 1/3. It was decent. A bit salty, but still good. I ordered the flan for dessert. It has a strong rum flavor and is a bit dense for my liking. They are still working on their liquor license, so as of today they only have food and non alcoholic beverages. The ambiance is relaxing to come watch a game. Decided to to try to chicken mole enchiladas and was snacking on chips and salsa before it came out. Food was out pretty fast and in a large portion, taste was great, but when the bill came I did some math in my head and ask the waitress what was up with the price to which she said it was taxes. So I always ask to get a receipt printed after eating out so as to see the damage myself and lo and behold gratuity was automatically added on top of my tip. They state why on the receipt but I didn't get that till after I ate. So yeah, I like the food but I dont like being lied to my face, can't see myself coming back. read more

Food is good but sometimes it's not as good just depends on the day I guess. We have gone handful of times to this location off E 40th ave. Because it had just opened won't be going back. Food is very pricey. Service is ok. But one thing I do not like is they automatically charge a 20 percent gratuity on your check even though there is only 2 people in my party. Then last time we went we paid in cash and server took additional tip or did not know how to give change then disappeared That sealed the deal of not going back. A wonderful addition to our neighborhood. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is delicious with large portion sizes. They remodeled the building and it looks very nice. They start you off with chips, two types of salsas, and a mushroom salsa. They also include gratuity in the price which is great for the hardworking staff. Overall a nice new spot. read more

Y'all, my friend and I heard about this place. We didn't even know that they were open. We used to go there when it was urban Sombrero. We go in the place is brighter. It looks amazing. It's cute! Our waitress was Jocelyn. This woman was the most beautiful soul, I could also tell the other women in the place were beautiful as well. There were smiles from the time that we walked in the door. The food was good. I had a beer that was huge. I had never hit had a beer that big since GERMANY !!! Jocelyn never took it for granted that things were OK at our table. She checked on us like crazy. That's amazing to me. Customer service is very big for me. The food was good. My beer was huge but for me, it's all about service! I had just told my friend, even if the food was horrible, The customer service in this place is amazing. She even came by and we talked about customer service as we are in the business as well. I love the place . The Chichirones (well I jacked that up) is that how you say it? Oh my goodness( they were so good. This place is overpriced, a bit unfriendly, and the food isn't good. Plus, they automatically add a gratuity of 18 to 20% to your bill. They were closing in about 30 to 45 minutes and right next to our table they were cleaning with the strongest chemicals that made the food even worse. The two waitresses who helped us were ok, but overall, it was a terrible experience, and I will never eat here again. We went to El Patron on Friday for couple drinks. The huge draw back to me is that they automatically put a gratuity charge to your bill. I paid with cash so I wouldn't get another charge for using the credit card. Apparently the lady felt obligated to keep the change. She did not offer to give me my change back. If I had to count her steps for the drinks we had, she probably only put in 15 steps.. poor thing. I feel sorry for a place like this that thinks it's ok to steal money from you. I can't speak to the food, but I won't ever go back for these reasons alone. They should be ashamed of themselves and consider shutting their doors, if they feel it's ok to take advantage of people. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place and any other restaurant that feels it's ok to steal your money. We frequent restaurants often and always give a nice tip, but I would have walked out the door with my change in hand if she would have given it to me. How shameful!!! read more

I would have given them 5 stars but I really wanted a Nedra Modelo with my meal and they won't have their liquor license for another 2 days. The food came out surprisingly fast which almost seemed rushed but ok, I guess. My boyfriend's order was wrong and had to get it sent back and corrected. My smothered burrito was probably the worst I have ever tasted. The tortilla was soggy, the ground beef flavorless and I could not tell if there were any beans and the green chile was ehhh. I should have sent it back but didn't. The other 2 people in our party said their food was good/ok. Prices were high for a Mexican restaurant and gratuity was added in which is ok in most cases. We went here after work for happy hour. It was clean and quiet. Great place to actually hear the people you are with. We ordered drinks and when I ordered mine it was wrong. The problem was the waitress never came back to check on it. It was a Michilada but the wrong beer. Since she wasn't around I tried it and it was not to my liking but the conversation and company were good so I kept trying. Asked for ice when we did see her - nothing. Table gets cleared of appetizer, water is spilled all over by us when the busser tries to grab the beer bottle - we tell her it's because it has bad mojo because it's the wrong beer. Nothing. When she brought out the check this drink, that is still almost full , was $20 and we see that an 18% tip is included already. ($70 for 3 drinks and 1 appetizer) Now she asks about the ice and I tell her no it was the wrong beer. It wasn't what I ordered and remind her what I ordered. She did not care. No discount.
