Close to the hotel....took a chance. Made my way to the bar to see the options for a ranch water. I was approached by a bar tender who gave a great tequila recommendation. Learned a new additive free option!! I asked for chips and salsa (twice). The bartender acknowledged my request. I added my dinner order with the second request....nothing came. My flour tacos arrived....the shells were stale, warm (reheated) but my proteins were cold. As hungry as I was....the more I thought about it....i couldn't finish. The staff walks around in a horrible mood. They sit back and talk about the patrons at the bar....maybe if they actually paid attention to their requests. Mile high hopes...only to be let down again. I'm not sure about this place. Server was friendly and the person who brought our food was too. It's two businesses in one - Boozy Biscuit and also Urban Sombrero. We chose from the Urban Sombrero menu since we were having lunch. Burrito, burrito bowl and Aztec Salad with shrimp added. The salsa for the chips and salsa was good. Slight spice and larger chunks of tomato and pepper. The salad was fine: avocados made it better. The shrimp wasn't great but not bad. It's a texture thing and they weren't flavorful. The burrito was large and she took home leftovers. She liked it. The burrito bowl didn't sit well with my friend. She's also unsure of this place. However, since it's close to work we will probably be back. Parking in semi-private lot. Lots of TVs if you like sports. Patio seating too. Nice and well lit inside. read more

My daughter and my future son-in-law planned their rehearsal dinner for 20 people to be at the Urban Sombrero. They chose this venue because they wanted a low key dining experience. They originally made the reservations in April. They then confirmed the reservation 2 weeks ago. They were told that they are all set. All 20 of their guests showed up at the appointed time to find that the area at this restaurant was sold out from under them and they could not accommodate us. The stress of planning a wedding is enough as it is, but to get to the restaurant and find out that your plans are out the window is inexcusable. We quickly put our heads together and found a great restaurant that was about 200 yards away that could and were willing to accommodate our party. Needles to say, we will never recommend this restaurant to anyone at any time. This is a reflection of poor management. read more

I ordered the huevos rancheros and the tortillas used were stale and hard to break. I asked for sugar with my coffee and never got the sugar - we had to take some from another table. My son's silverware was dirty so we had to get a new one and the waiter was non apologetic about it. Overpriced for the food we got. However the food was very spicy (especially the ground beef, and the Carnitas), the chips were very stale and everything, including the Cobb salad seemed ramped up to just be spicy. Are we up for the challenge? lol Headed out there for lunch, not so crowded (that's when you get the worst service usually) and yet I've been seated and taken care of pretty quickly. Got the chicken fajitas, flour tortillas and refried beans. Pretty much a staple The cast iron skillet wasn't sizzling the way I'm used to but the chicken looked great and the veggies too. Missed that charred flavor of the sizzling hot pan but everything else was on point. Enough food to give you a nice and blissful after lunch coma. The environment is good for families and also has a bar area that's perfect for games and drinking it blends and works so well. We love this place! My kids love their wings and burgers, my husband loves the enchiladas and I'm obsessed with their Greek omelette so we try to make it in time for brunch to get a little of both menus (which both menus have so much to pick) so we all honestly leave satisfied every time! the servers are all friendly too so it wasn't hard to become a frequent here. read more

I hate to be a snob, but everybody behind the bar had their boobs hanging out. The bartender had her boobs hanging out and some girl just talking to everybody from behind the bar was very busty and I saw her nipples at one point. That sort of thing disgust me. I might come back in the future if I'm flying into Denver again, but I'm not sure I would order a drink because it took 10 minutes to get an old-fashioned OK, I just realized that most of the waitresses are dressed scantily. This was a lively sports bar serving Mexican dishes, sandwiches & burgers, with plenty of parking in the parking lot. There were fifteen flatscreens TVs thru-out the bar & dining room plus loud music playing, (Country Music while we were there). It was almost too loud, however we were seated in the bar. We arrived around noon on a busy Saturday & after a little bit of a wait we were seated in a comfy two person booth, the seats & backs were padded. This place had a cool industrial vibe with an exposed ceiling & brick wall accents. We ordered two Cheese Enchiladas with Refried Beans & Mexican Rice & a Combo #3 - a Chile Relleno, Cheese Enchilada, Steak Taco with Refried Beans & Mexican Rice. The Cheese Enchiladas were delicious as well as the Chile Relleno...a very tender pepper & crispy. The sauce was flavorful but not enough of it. The Refried Beans were unusual but in a good way, partially mashed & had a smoky flavor. The Steak Taco & Rice were yummy as well. Our Server was friendly, however we had to ask for our Chips & Salsa & the chips lacked salt. Overall, a good meal. BOOZY BISCUIT I couldn't find Boozy Biscuit on Yelp, but here is my review of Boozy Biscuit, which is the same restaurant as Urban Sombrero. Service was not spectacular, the hostesses were all clustered together and didn't look like they cared about their job. It wasn't that welcoming. It was packed because it was football game day. The ambience was that of a sports bar. I've been to the old Urban Sombrero location and this place is definitely an upgrade. For food, I ordered the Sweet and Spicy Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit and the chocolate covered bacon. Starting with the bacon, it was a bit too crispy for my likeness, but I like the addition of flaky salt on the chocolate to help make a smooth transition from sweet to salty without it being too punchy. The biscuit was very, very scrumptious and flaky, without being too crumbly. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. The jam tied it all together and was a somewhat refreshing touch amidst the spice of the chicken. I could do with less potatoes and the option to swap the side with fruit or coleslaw (which I was told I couldn't swap sides). Overall, good food, but hostess service and the ability to not swap sides kind of made me not feel the most welcome and just a tad bit uncomfortable. read more

Attended on 7/19 the world cup final. I enjoy the shrimp fajitas it's a quality product place was busy I made a comment to my wife who is with me that the slow service doesn't happen at Ted's Montana grill across the street. The manager who happened to be across from where I was sitting at the bar made a smart-ass remark regarding, like work? What I found ironic was after he was entertaining his guests during the soccer match while leaving his staff hanging out to dry busting a nut. If you're in the hospitality industry your guest appreciate hospitality. Perhaps that manager rather than getting offended should have taken the remark not directed towards him and applied it to him and his staff to improve the service so remarks of those kinds aren't made. If you're in the hospitality industry perhaps you should be hospitable. Hopefully ownership will take this into consideration as the pricing from the Urban sombrero is awfully close to other top shelf establishments that understand being hospitable. came here prior to the move. Great drinks...good food..friendly service. Now very much changed. 4 in the party, ordered 4 margaritas. What came was kind of orange in color, tasteless, nothing in common with a good margarita. Server spent more time with friends than attending to seated customers. The food was absolutely delicious! A true gem in Denver!! My husband and I were craving breakfast but our son wanted lunch so this place was perfect. I had the Greek omelette hubby had dad's ultimate breakfast and our son had the 3 tacos. Location was easy to get to, establishment clean spacious plenty of TVs but not overwhelming. And our waitress Jocelyn was friendly and attentive. We definitely will be back!! This restaurant with its wide variety of food choices would do great in northern Va!! I was here for a business trip and this place looked like a good spot to watch Thursday night football that was close to my airport hotel. This place caught my eye, there were TVs playing football and basketball surrounding the bar so I grabbed a seat. The place was busy, both at the bar and tables. One of the bartenders came over and asked for my drink order and brought me a menu after I asked for one. I ordered the enchiladas plate and a glass of red wine. I wasn't expecting much from the wine at a sports bar (just wasn't in the mood for beer). I was expecting a great enchilada based on the name, it was good but just ok nothing special. The enchiladas themselves were good, but all the sides were really just filler. The rice had no flavor, lettuce was just generic shredded iceberg, and the pico was definitely mass produced elsewhere and shipped in. Right after I ordered a group of guys that seemed a little buzzed posted up at the bar next to me. Before that I had a good amount of space, but when my food came one of them kept bumping into me. I can't really blame the restaurant for the clientele that come in to watch games but I didn't stay to watch the end of the game cause I was uncomfortable, they weren't taking my polite hints that I didn't want to talk to them and they smelled. I could've moved, but after sitting at the bar watching the bartenders make drinks I wasn't inclined to order anything else. Any mixed drink had some artificial color or sugary looking ingredients. Mostly I saw them pouring beer and shots, so that meant more people getting buzzed which was not what I was in the mood to be around. If you decide to come to this restaurant, I would stick to beer for drinks. They do have a decent selection on tap. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. Drink prices were pretty cheap, so if you're looking for a good place to watch the game and not spend a lot of money on beer, this would be the spot. Worst french fries experienced to date. They did not salt or pepper or oil or butter or any moisture at all. Rude service staff. They overcook the fries by at least five minutes. I'm pretty sure every enpleyee has given up on food being and enjoyment. Fries are usually the safest bet at any restaurant you go, but God forbid I ordered anything more complicated than potato in oil & water and salt and pepper cooked the right book temperature for the right time. We were visiting from the Houston area, and are used to really good Tex Mex, like Lupe Tortilla, Los Cucos, etc.There wasn't a huge selection of the usual Tex Mex items, and there seemed to be an unusual amount of ground beef based items. Also, why was there such a large section of the menu dedicated to hamburgers in a Tex Mex restaurant? We ordered the fajitas, which were tasty, but didn't seem like real, grilled fajitas. They definitely did not come out on that signature sizzling platter. The tortillas didn't seem to be homemade, and came out cold. The "millionaire" margaritas were tasteless. I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't good. My husband had the chimichangas with chicken and he complained about the meat being dry and had no flavor. I tried to play it safe get ground beef tacos and again, no seasoning. My daughter opted for a teriyaki burger in a Mexican restaurant (I ain't done raising her y'all), she said she liked it but I could tell she was just tolerating it by her slow pace eating it. I ordered the combo #1 (shrimp taco, steak tostada and green chili enchilada with Mexican rice and refried beans) The meal came with a strong fishy smell and white cream all over the shrimp taco and the steak tostada; this was not mentioned on the menu. The shrimp smelled very fishy, I sent it back to be corrected, prayed that everything would be ok with the meal when it comes back. The meal arrived, looked delicious still smelled fishy but I ate everything on my plate, tipped the server $20! 20-30 min later I felt real hot and had an episode of explosive diarrhea in the restroom at home, thank God that's all I had! If you want to watch a sports game this is the place to go! TV's are everywhere you look and game time drink specials are available. The queso was only okay, but once mixed with the salsa it immediately became better. Although the Margs were okay, they were a little on the sweet side and overpriced for the quality. Blue cheese burger was on point! Our server was very nice but was wearing a see through shirt so we could see her nipples, which was a little awkward but she didn't seem to mind. I've been to this restaurant for at least a few time in the past and am finally writing a review about it as my lunch with a good friend of mine at around 1:30pm was pretty good. We thought the place would be packed with the attendees from the reptile exhibit only half a mile away at one of the hotels. It's nice to find it quiet with only 25% of its capacity when we arrived after being famished. Getting a booth just for two people was no problem. I had only known this place being so busy on Cinco de May in the past few years. Even it's not a special day, it doesn't draw a heavy traffic to it. Looks like we just missed the lunch rush; I could tell by looking at the floor that wasn't swept up well the rush that had left some food crumbs and trash. I understand; at least this didn't disgust me (lol). The young lady who came to greet us was so pleasant. She gave us plenty of time so we could decide on what to eat to satisfy our empty stomachs. We ordered two house margs, three fish tacos, and chimichanga. The margaritas were huge at the price of $7. They put a lot of salt on the glass rims and it tasted delicious. My friend's chimichanga was delicious and I liked my fish tacos, too. The fish was impeccably cooked and tasted fresh; they were loaded with chopped up mango and tomatoes and shredded lettuce. The portions were generous. This restaurant serves this somewhat industrial neighborhood so in a way, it's kind of hidden but due to the fact that some nearby hotels hold exhibits from time to time, it's good to know that such a place exists.
