    Two taco meal $9.99
    Rhonda N.

So good! I hesitate to post this review because I don't want everyone to know about this Tinley Park gem! I had the two taco special for $9.99-choice of chicken, steak or pastor. I chose the pastor and I'm glad I did. Well-seasoned meat and plenty of it! Just enough of a serving on the rice and beans. My server Mary was friendly and very welcoming. A great neighborhood joint, I will DEFINITELY be back here!!

Excellent tacos! Very impressed with their menu. Can't wait to try more items. They offer dine in and carry out.

She sat there at the register blowing her nose then wiped her nose with her hands as she grabbed our chips n salsa. She has blonde hair a short older Mexican last in her latec40's. How dare you not wash your hands and I definitely told her the reason why I was leaving she didn't seem to care as she walked the chips n salsa back Where she got them from...*****cross contamination****.. Now is not the time to not be clean and serve food to the public that people are spending there hard earned coins on . Please tell your staff to wash there hands when handling food. I'm disgusted and finding another Mexican restaurant. Any suggestions anyone

Steak burrito tasted like ground beef. Guacamole not good. And the hot carrots were mushy.

Authentic and Delicious!…read more I was in the area with my family, and we decided to stop in for a bite. We walked in late one Sunday afternoon and were seated promptly. Our waiter was a polite gentleman who was pleasant and affable. I ordered a mango margarita and my sister had a Paloma. The margarita appeared to have been dispensed from a pre-made container. It wasn't something that was freshly blended. It was decent but a little too sweet. I didn't finish it and ended up ordering a Coke later. My sister enjoyed her Paloma though. My mom had a ground beef taco and a chicken tinga taco. She didn't like the chicken but enjoyed the beef. My sister and I both had the rice and beans. For tacos, we ordered chicken tinga, Carne asada, and al pastor. The tacos were phenomenal. They were flavorful, tender, and authentic. The tacos are small, like street tacos, but it was more than enough. The rice and beans were also tasty. My sister didn't care for the rice, but I enjoyed it. We all agreed that we'd visit Maiz & Barrio again. The restaurant vibe was lively and comfortable. The restaurant decor is tasteful with vibrant colors and beautiful wall art. The restaurant is a decent size, so the tables aren't too close together. The bill was $116 for the three of us, which included a 22% tip.

None of the previous businesses were able to hit the mark, or last for any significant amount of time. Maiz & Barro have seemingly figured it out. There are so many Mexican restaurants in the south side ... both of the fast food variety and also the ones offering full service. However, most of the ones actually in Oak Forest don't offer table service, so it's nice to have this spot in the neighborhood. The food is a bit pricey, but the atmosphere is lively, and the service was great. We've been here a few times in the past and the food has always been good. We stopped in for lunch during this visit and we did not leave disappointed. The tacos are very good and the complementary salsa they serve is delicious. Not my favorite Mexican food in the area, but definitely good enough to warrant repeated visits.

We found ourselves outside of Chicago hungry. My fellow Yelpers did not disappoint…read more Burrito Jalisco was authentic Mexican fare with huge portions. I regret that we were there late in the evening and left half of our meals on the table. Lets start with the outside. The only sign is on the building and some lights were burned out. Inside resembled an old diner with those colorful flags criss crossing the room. Tile floors, a few booths followed by tables in the side room. We were told to seat ourselves. Waitress #1 brought water, chips, two salsas, spoons and extra napkins. Here is why we reduced this restaurant's rating. The chips and salsa was not good. The salsa was watery (or well blended) The chips were not fresh. My husband though they were burned. I dipped a chip in the closest salsa and reached for the water immediately. SPICY! But not favorable. We later learned the other salsa was mild. P I like spice but it has to have flavor. Disappointing My husband ordered the ground beef burrito with mas frejoles. (Im a lucky lady) No arroz. It was Huge- Chipotle sized. Inside was ground beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese and he paid for sour cream. The burrito was moist and good. The beef lacked seasoning. I was adventurous and ordered Quesabuirria Combo. I received 3 "tacos" with fried corn shells filled with ground chicken, diced onion and cilantro it was served with a consume. A red broth with diced inion and cilantro. Very simple but very favorable! The menu showed someone dipping the taco in the consume. I dipped my taco and I ate the soup with a spoon. It was good. I also ordered Elote because a sign said "now available" The corn was served in a bowel with a dollop of mayo, cheese, cilantro and paprika. Mix it all up and enjoy! We both agree we would return except that it was a 7 hour drive. Thank you yelp for helping us find this great restaurant!

That's the ONLY SEASONING I tasted on the beans and rice. The chicken was bland and no fresh AT ALL! My quesadilla barely had cheese! Imagine a quesadilla without cheese and no cheese pull whatsoever! I'm really disappointed with choosing this restaurant for a treat night. All I can say is Play At Your Own Risk! To the cooks there's definitely room for improvement.

Wonderfully seasoned, stuffed generously, and priced in a way that makes you feel like you are getting away with something. This is the kind of burrito that makes you reconsider every burrito you have had before it. The horchata was so good I was guzzling it like my life depended on it. Cold, creamy, perfectly spiced. And the choco flan was my personal highlight of the meal. Rich, silky, and deeply satisfying in that way only a great flan can be. We visited on the Fourth of July, and despite some visible storm damage the team was actively working to repair, the restaurant had a steady and loyal stream of locals coming through without pause. That says everything. Frankfort knows what it has here. The decor is cute and the family owned warmth comes through in every interaction. You can feel the care and pride in this place from the moment you walk in. A gem hiding in plain sight. We completely understand why the locals love it.
