I had walked, went and ate here today by myself for lunch on a rainy and cold Sunday afternoon. I'd ordered and brought only the quail egg hot dog combo and it was really good, delicious and a bit expensive to eat it. It was the same guy who was working there by himself was really good, nice and friendly! I didn't wait too long to get my order and be served that it took about 5 minutes! After I had ate my meal, he quickly told me again if it's good and I told him back with a smile it was really good, I liked it and delicious and he smiled at me back! Of all the Colombian hot dog spots along Northern, El Perro tends to get the least amount of attention. They have all the intangibles I love in a junk food establishment: fast, abundant, affordable, and insane unhealthy. When this kind of food tastes good even when sober (#1), then it's a win-win for everyone involved. As an establishment, El Perro isn't much to look at. Seating is limited, the bathrooms are sketch, and most people are in/out with the takeout anyway. Delivery was already a big business even prior to the pandemic, but they've done well enough to remain a fixture in the late night food scene. If you're not a fan of cholados, hot dogs, or burgers, then this is not the place for you. Colombian style is really a mishmosh of ingredients stacked into each dog / sandwich to the point where it's a meal in itself. The burgers are mostly under $10 each and super hearty all around. My favorites include their monster hamburguesa, which is fully loaded with double patties, all the sauces, topped with pink sauce, crushed potato chips and cheese. Equally heart stopping are their array of hot dogs; my preferred ones being the criollo (sausage + carrot salad), hawaiian (sausage, cheese, pineapple), and especial (bacon, cheese, pineapple). Most of the appetizers (especially the wings - ugh) are not on my must-eat list, but the salchipapas combinations are all fire. Service is quick and to the point. Spanish is the preferred language here, but they do just fine with ingles. While they do accept credit card, cash seems to be the quicker transaction. Stopped in here this evening after having not eaten all day! The two guys behind the counter were super sweet (and bilingual). This is a small spot, but room for about eight to sit and enjoy their Colombian take on burgers and hot dogs (amongst other goodies). I forgot to take a pic, but I had the Classic burger combo - comes with lettuce, tomato, onions and their "house sauce" with fries and a soda. It was deliciosa and exactly what I needed after a day of 14K steps and nothing other than water and a yogurt in my belly! So it's a Colombian fast food place and the thing I like here are their cholados and their hamburguesas The food: Cholado- what's a cholado??? Yeah, it's essentially a fruit cup. It's shaved ice, a blend of fruit juices, slices of banana, slices of strawberry, shaved coconut drizzled with condensed milk. It's pretty much a minorities wet dream, I had a Caucasian friend try it and she was not a fan. Hamburguesas Hawaiiana- It's meat, cheese, pineapple, tomato, crunched potato chips, ketchup, pink sauce, mayo, mustard. Yeah, it's a Spanish burger with a TON of stuff in it. I finally made it the El Perro! I have passed this place many times and telling myself to go. I finally did this past weekend. The menu has lots of photos so ordering is easy. After the meal I definitely vote this place as one of the best burgers I had for a long time! I had the Hawaiiana Combo (burger+fries+soda)- it comes with meat patty, cheese, pineapple, lettuce, tomato, crunched potato chips, ketchup, pink sauce, mayonnaise, and mustard. The combination is delicious! Rate it 5/5. The combo include fries and they were very good especially with the pink sauce. The have hot dogs and sandwiches too. There natural juices was good; you can get it with milk or water. In the summer they have Cholado, banana boat, ensalada de frutas, fresas con crema, and gresas con crema y banano! I will be back for to try the rest of the menu! Parking- not easy, try a block away instead of on Northern Blvd. The place is small and only have a limited counter seats; no tables. read more

El Perro is my kinda place. Be warned its just a couple of counters you can eat at. There are no tables at all so it's not the most comfy place but I wasn't here for that. I wanted Colombian fast food. I came in for a hamburguesa with their salsa rosada, pink sauce!!! Pink sauce is probably mayo with ketchup. Their burgers are nice sized and the fries were crispy and tasty. The burgers could use more seasoning but it was good nonetheless. I like how down-to-earth everything was at El Perro. This place is great and just one block away from my house. I love it. I needed food bad one late night and did not want to go far for food. They open until 2 (maybe even later on wknds) so it worked perfectly for me. The owner is really nice and always looks happy to see me. i have the Hamburguesa Criolla. It was great. I know I know - it says Perro Veloz, but I was in the mood for a hamburguesa darnit! It was awesome - ham, bacon, cheese, grilled opnions, crushed chips, a fried egg, mayo, pink sauce, and mustard. YUM. Oh yea, there was also a beef patty LOL, and I saw them one time shaping and mixing the patties fresh. The fries are eh, and probably b/c i do take out and it sits in the container for awhile. I just forgo the fries since I always get takeout. They also have cholados and they look awesome! Usually everytime i go in there, there's at least one person waiting to get their cholado. Not a fan of cholados, but L kinda likes them. It's just weird to have something so ridiculously sweet and fattening at the same time. You can barely taste the fruit. It's an acquired taste if it's not something you grew up eating... The hot dogs with all the additional toppings are a bit overpriced for what it is and really messy to eat. The toppings are pretty simple, the hot dogs don't taste bad, but it's nothing you couldn't replicate in your kitchen in 6 minutes. I'd rather buy a better quality hot dog and make a "healthier" banh mi hot dog myself. L's nephew used to get burgers from El Perro out of convenience, but what kid doesn't enjoy a greasy burger topped with a massive piece of ham... So unhealthy. read more

I had enjoyed a burger brought to me from there by a friend, so I thought I go myself and order a cuban sandwich. I ordered from the pleasant lady while the man behind the counter continued to full small take out size salsa containers. The woman returned to her place behind a metal screen (so I couldn't see what she was up to, but assumed work on my sandwich had begun. How wrong I was! 5 minutes after I walked in, an attractive young girl came in and ordered a hot dog (no innuendo intended). Within moments, sauce man had sprung into action placing her bun and dog into the toaster oven (seems a poor way to prepare a hot dog, but who am I to judge). He then started texting. I began to suspect my sandwich might not be a top priority. I checked on what exactly the woman was up to and found that she had indeed been chopping, but not for my sandwich. She pushed some chopped veggies into a metal container, replaced the container and resumed chopping. I still had the $5 in my hand when I stormed out.
