I placed an order on Doordash and I'm happy I did; I finally had good Colombian with flavored frijoles that can be delivered to Brooklyn ( the struggle to find good Colombian has been food has been real) One thing I have to say in general, is that it's crazy for me to understand why it's so hard to get a real bandeja paisa in Queens/Brooklyn these days. I say this because after looking at numerous menus, I noticed that each one is always missing part of the meal that makes it what it is ( avocado, chicharron, maduro, egg) and this place is included in that. It's the only reason they didn't receive a 5 for my review. What that said, they at least give you the option for the chicharron or chorizo and it comes with avocado ( a lot of places exclude avocado ). Now back to the food; the delivery came timely and was well packaged. I was pleased to see the portion of this as well! Let me start off with the empanada, that was NOT oily at all! Had more meat than potato and I saw the guiso ( that consists of tomato, scallion, etc) that was used to flavor the meat, making this a uniquely rare find of a good empanada. Now let me move onto the frijoles; they were sooooo good and perfectly seasoned which is another rare find. This made me so happy because I feel that this makes or break the dish at the restaurant you eat this dish from. Additionally, the meat was flavored well and the it was just all perfect! They have outdoor seating and when we request a table change they were really nice about it. The food was really good and tasted fresh. We shared a fish dish and the bandeja paisa. This is a Colombian restaurant in Woodside right under the 69th Street subway stop. It has been there for many years. The inside is simple, like a diner. The waiter who served us was also very friendly. The food was good but not great. On the menu, they have a section of combination platters - several meats with rice and beans and salad or plantains. I chose the "Bandeja Mario". It is their version of the Colombian bandeja paisa. It came with carne asada, lomo de cerdo, pork chicharron, roast chicken, rice, beans and salad. The portion of my meal was massive! I have a big appetite, and it was way too much meat. This was easily enough for two people to share, and it cost only $16. My friend also bought a similar combination platter that had a lot of the same things my bandeja had, but was slightly smaller. It was still too much for him, and his was only $10. The downside was that the meat itself was mostly very dry and a little hard - not moist and flavorful. The carne asada and chicken were especially dry. This is a Colombian restaurant with the typical Colombian fare. The location is right on the corner as soon as you get on/off the 7 train. Super convenient! We were told to sit wherever, and as it wasn't too crowded. I'm not sure if staff speaks English, as everyone only spoke Spanish to us. The staff was good through out the meal but we did have to get their attention. The menu is extensive, however there isn't a kid's menu. We ended up ordering chicken fingers and french fries for the young one. I had the minitipica and my boyfriend, something I can't even remember. The adult's food was great and it came with a lot of food. Very filling. My kid's chicken however, was under-cooked. It was immediately replaced with apologies. The staff is very friendly, and I must say I was in love at first bite with the food. I first ordered a beef empanada for an appetizer. Splurge and order the large soup of the day, all are great, and costing no more than $7.95 which includes rice, salad and a meat sampling. I actually always take home half my meal! The coffee is to die for. On one recent visit I was treated to a sampling of delicious doughnut-like bunuelos, on the house. The warm and friendly service cannot be beat! First off, the service here was really nice. Were really friendly & helpful. The juices were really nice (we had 3: papaya; guava; soursop). The soup was also fantastic. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed with the chicken, as that was the primary consideration in going. It was a bit dryer than I would've liked and the marinade was not quite what we were expecting. Had tvs going for the world cup. It was good viewing, albeit slightly distracting for conversing. But, did get to see the game, which was nice. Compared to other options in the area, must say there are other things worth revisiting. The food here is pretty good though its all typical latin food. Fried and/ or baked chicken, steak, sausage, plantains and stuff. The prices are a bit high but they are open late. This place is similar to Pollos Mario on Woodside Ave, but it's open 24 hours. I think we'll be switching over to this location. Good service and delicious Colombian food. The food came out approximately 10 minutes after we ordered. I like simple dishes so I got Carne Asada which comes steak, rice, beans, salad, a plantain, and una arepa (which is a bit small.) Not only is the food unsavory (dried out meat, oily and nasty sauces) the staff rude and their light display in the window an annoyance to their neighbors, they also received 40 violation points on their latest inspection report from the NYC Department of Health! Loved this place! I enjoy walking into restaurants with nice interiors and this was one of them! At the front they have a fast food section with booth style seating; and in the back there were intimate seating arrangements. Radio music was playing the whole time and we sat next to a window sill with little Colombian statuettes, so cute! We ordered the Carne Asada Platter and Country Platter. The Platters came with rice, beans plátano maduros (sweet plantains), and corn cake. The Country Platter came with additional eggs, avacado, and chicharrón (pork skin). The food was very flavorful especially the beans!!! Strangely, The hot sauce was really fresh, with a pleasant scent!! The steak was hot and fresh off the grill. I am definitely going to visit this place again and order different things. I've been ordering delivery from this restaurant for about 6 years. Last year I placed an order through one of those takeout websites and they sent me the wrong order and when I called to let them know, the girl on the phone told me I was wrong and that I received the right order, even though I've been ordering the same thing over and over again.They refused to take it back and wouldn't refund me my money, so the website I ordered through had to refund me. Anyway, I didn't order from them again until recently except that I called in this time. So I placed an order with them today and it took over an hour for the food to get to me. When the delivery guy finally got here, he was rude and he complained that he was outside over 20 minutes ago. Normally when the delivery guy is outside, he calls but this guy just didn't think that was the smart thing to do. Oh, and did I mention that usually the delivery guy has a motorized bike and gets here within 25-35 minutes, but today, he drove here in a car. I've driven over there to pick up food and it takes 5 minutes to get there. When I got inside, my food was ice cold. I didn't send it back because I couldn't spend another second without any food in my stomach. This is definitely the last time I will be ordering food from this restaurant. I would have spoken to a manager but I tried that the first time I had a issue with them and apparently they either don't have one or everyone is partially the manager.
