I had the 1/2 chicken plate (#2) for lunch today, 04/25/2023, about 12:50p. No one else was in line which worried me at first. The cashier was speaking to the two males in the kitchen, but quickly addressed me and asked what I wanted. She clarified #1 or #2 as they both are 1/2 chicken plates, one with rice and beans, one w/o. I wanted the later. $8.81 total, not bad. I watched as the younger male pulled out a spit, pulled off a whole chicken and cut it in half. He put that half into a to go container, the other half want onto a try and back into the rotisserie oven. The cashier finished fixing my order and I was out. Less than 5 minutes total. Plus 1 star. The chicken was still piping hot when I opened the container, some 5 minutes after. It was juicy, and pulled from bones easily. The taste was good, like most rotisserie chicken, with hints of salt, paprika, and pepper. I don't believe they marinated it with any flavors, but likely brined cu it was juicy. The #2 came with tortillas and salsa, that's it and that is they way I like it. Tortillas were good and hot, likely NOT homemade, but soft and provide the perfect ride for the chicken and salsa. I'd go back as this place was clean, fresh (for rotisserie) and had fast service. In the waist land that is Huntington Park/Walnut Park this is a good spot. read more

Ok, I ran into this poultry goldmine and never thought about coming here until I had a craving for some delicious rotisserie chicken. I also needed a little change of pace from the typical pollo loco or Juan Pollo. I haven't been a huge fan of the grocery story rotisserie offerings and had some time to wander off the unbeaten path. I had looked upon all of you to point me in the right direction and noticed that this chicken establishment was just around the corner in the city of Southgate. Bingo! Loteria! The place isn't anything special and offers very limited parking. The place looks a little worn out and it looks like it has been there for quite some time. It needs a bit of a make over but who am I to judge! They only serve up a few tables so it is safe to assume that this eatery is a bit more of a take out joint versus a place you would dine in for. I had ordered two whole chickens with no sides so my review will only be about the chicken, the most important menu item :) The service was friendly and prompt!! It did take more than 10 minutes to get my two whole chickens, but they did warn me that it would be delayed a bit. The patrons of this establishment at the time of my visit were a bit all over the place from the occasional transient requesting donations to a few construction workers or the Latino family having a quick meal. I am glad I tried Pollo Dorado, the chicken was tasty and cooked to perfection. The spice/marinade they use on the chicken is delicious with just enough citrus and savory seasoning!! I also loved the fact that the chicken was moist and tender. Their salsa is also fantastic with just enough spice and ummmphhh.. It made for a great dipping sauce. Thank you Golden Chicken! If I was judging this place solely on the chicken, I'd give it 5 stars all day. The rice and beans are okay, nothing special, and the potato salad is whatever. The chicken is absolutely delicious, tied for best non fried chicken I've ever had. However I can't ignore other factors like the small dining room with no AC or heater, no fountain drinks, complete lack of parking and the tagged up, rundown appearance of the outside. If you want some bomb ass rotisserie chicken at a good price then this is your place, but I'd recommend ordering it to go. read more

I've always used this franchise to cater my parties and never had a problem until today. I called to place a large order over the phone, the girl was nice and took my name and oder; no problem. I asked her if it can be ready by 11AM for pick up she said sure. I called the day of pick up to make sure the order was ready, she puts me on hold, I guess she forgot, so I hang up after waiting for at least 5 minutes; no big deal since they sounded busy. I get there and ask for my order, she looked stunned then started rambling in Spanish even though previously she took my order and answered me fine in English. Another customer was nice enough to translate, at first she tried to say that I had called and cancelled my order. When she realized I wasn't going to accept that she then said I had called to changed my large party order for only two chickens; try again!!! Finally, she admitted that SHE had cancelled my order and sold my chickens to other customers because I didn't show up; wait...at what point should you have told me my order was only good for a limited amount of time and would be sold??? Also, you took down my number so why didn't you call me when I "didn't show up?" She then said it was because I hadn't paid for my order, again... why wasn't this brought up during the phone order??? When I asked why didn't you have me pay for it. She replies we don't do payments over the phone. I'm at total disbelief at this point but I have no choice but to wait since I had 30 people at my house expecting chicken. After waiting for over 30 minutes I go pay...not only did she forget to add the extra chicken I had requested, she didn't give me any of the sides listed as part of the party pack...said I never order the party pack just chicken. She must have forgotten our phone conversation when I specifically asked about each party pack; what it came with, how many people each feed, and the price of each one. Never once did she apologized for anything. If this is a common practice at this location they have lost my business for good. Do yourself a favor and go to the Bellflower location. Luckily I bought the cheapest thing they sell which is the half chicken order, I didn't even finish it I threw much of it away.
