The place has a "theme", at least memoirs of CDMX, but it seems to have a typical Mexican food it is good, there is ample seating you can order to go which is also a plus. Overall decent pricing is still preferable in comparison to other restaurants. The huarache is good and the tortas also are decent, the menudo is debatable as it's often subjective but from my opinion i liked it. I call Thursdays lady gave me the price and also said I needed to pay the order before . My boyfriend when in Friday morning paid . I just moved into the neighborhood and have been wanting to check this place out. I had the Al pastor huarache, de carne asada quesadilla, a pozole and some chips with mole sauce. The tortillas are handmade and delicious. The carnes asada quesadilla was full of meat, cheese and lettuce. My huarache was made with black beans, loaded with al pastor meat, corona cheese, onions and cilantro and served with a delicious green sauce. The people operating are super nice. Stopped in to catch a bite as I was visiting a nearby school. The huarache con pollo was pretty good...I've never had one before, but it was recommended to me because I like sopes. The huarache is larger and thinner, like the sole of a shoe, but delicious. It was recommended that I order it without onions, and I'm glad I did. The flavor was intense enough without the added onions (or the need for a breath mint afterwards...IYKYK). My friend had the flautas, and they were more like taquitos than flautas but they were still good. The service was friendly and nice and they were very patient with me trying to order in Spanish. They informed me that they hours were not updated and they actually closed at 8 PM, but when I showed up the woman at the counter was turning away customers that came in as early as 7:30 PM, the food was pretty good, I ordered a quesadilla and pozole. Both were very tasty and the portions were generous. However, the Agua Fresca was absolutely disgusting. It did not taste natural at all. It almost felt as if it was cantaloupe flavored Kool-Aid, and also had a weird aftertaste that reminded me of an alternate sweetener. Everything felt really rushed at the end, literally around 7:30 PM. We felt like we had to wrap up and finish. We just kept on getting weird looks from the staff. I've been coming here for over 20 years since I was a teen. The owner is absolutely wonderful. The service staff is very attentive and if you come during busy hours when they have both sides of the restaurant open, you might have some delays in service you are always more than welcome to go to the front and grab a soda before someone attends you, and they'll just simply added to your bill For the price location and food is definitely a place to try. This is honestly a tradition that I have passed on to my son that is now a teen himself, we come here at least twice a month and they remember me since I was a kid and now that I have my son they welcome both of us, so gracefully. Now to the food my favorite would be the quesadilla prensada. The tortilla is homemade always fresh and always delicious. I've had several dishes throughout the decades and honestly never disappoints the Guaraches are awesome and a great taste to remember Mexico. Pambasos are also a great treat. As I mentioned, you can't go wrong with any dish. The ambience of this place is absolutely wonderful they music playing sometimes which it can be a little overwhelming especially if you're out to dinner with your family and you would like to have a little bit of conversation because sometimes is a little loud. *sigh* I don't wanna write this review. I wish I had a better experience but... *pinches bridge of nose* If you're gonna call yourself "Tacos DF" you best not mess around. I'm from El DF and this was definitely not like any of the good sheeet I grew up with. We ordered pambazos, an old favorite. The only thing they got right was the bread. The sauce the pambazo is dipped in was all coloring and no flavor and the inside was a hot mess. Mashed potatoes with chorizo grease mixed in, instead of the traditional cubed potato sautéed with chorizo. We ordered tostadas de pata. Again, an old favorite. The texture of the pata was good, but they added refried beans to the tostada. Child, that is some YT peepo nonsense. You do NOT add beans to a tostada de pata. You. just. don't. And the biggest disappointment of all, the quesadilla de flor de calabaza. Where I come from, raw corn masa is filled with cheese and flor sautéed with plenty of garlic and onion, then it's dropped into a vat of hot oil and deep fried to crispy-on-the-outside, soft-and-gooey-on-the-inside perfection. This was not that. This was nasty cheese, barely any flor and a shit ton of tomato (!?!), inside a thicc corn tortilla. The ratio of tortilla to filling was off and the filling had freaking. tomatoes. in. it. I don't know where the people who run this joint are from, but it's definitely NOT el DF. read more
