We visited from out of town for the weekend and we loved this place! We rolled in Thursday 6 pm and luckily it was music bingo nite! So fun! The DJ plays songs and you mark them on your card. You have 2 cards and they play 2 times on card 1 and 2 times on card 2. Then they open it up to karaoke. These people are good! Also, Food is great, margaritas are great. When traveling you never know how stopping to eat will go. This one was top notch. I'm marking it down in my notebook as a good place to return to because it was right off Interstate 65, easily located and the service was wonderful. Food was a good value as well as delicious. We were driving from Louisville to Nashville and stopped here to grab some food. Outside of the Mint, I wasn't familiar with Franklin - but this place was highly rated so we decided to stop in. How this place has such a high rating is beyond me. Both our drinks had insects frozen into the ice cubes. If it was just one I may have been able to overlook it, but two definitely indicates a problem. And trying to relay that to the staff that speaks very little English was a nightmare. They kept thinking we wanted more drinks. Eventually a patron at a nearby booth came over to translate and they took the drinks back and off our checks. The food itself was nothing to be impressed over. The meats and rice were dry, the sides for my fajita were dismal, and the food overall lacked any real flavors. I ordered the Quesadilla Grande. It was awful, not recognizable as a quesedilla. The chunks of chicken and beef were way too big. The pineapple bigger than the chunks you buy in the store. All the food was good but our waiter Hardly can understand us. He never comes back to ask us if we need anything. He didn't bring out the chipotle sauce with the meal that we asked for. Excellent food and service. We had three of the many burrito choices. I tried the Burrito Potrero with chicken. It was tender and seasoned perfectly. My wife had the Burrito Fajita with steak. She loved it. My sister had the Burrito Fajita with chicken and shrimp. She really liked it but only found 1 confirmed shrimp. Overall the food was good and served hot and fairly quick. Now that is the smartest thing I've seen all day! They give you a carafe full of salsa with small serving bowls for each person eating. Double dip all you want guys. They have you covered. Those other Peurto Vallarta knock offs of Franklin better watch out. The quality was superior. The place and staff was cleaner and better put togethor. After a really bad day I find myself in Franklin Ky hungry and looking for the go to feel good food! Yeah that's right Mexican! Just around the corner from my current parking for the night is this place and I'm glad that it's hear. After a 5 minute stroll I waltz in the door and I am immediately seated and a drink order taken. The complimentary chips and salsa are brought forth, the chips are warm and obviously fresh lots of crunch and absolutely no staleness is detected. The salsa has plenty of body and a refreshing flavor with just the right amount of heat. The iced tea left a little to be desired so I replaced it with a large Horchata man its good stuff. So I quickly order a Shrimp Cocktail and some quesso. The cheese dip comes out and what can I say it's cheese melted into simmering milk exactly like every other Mexican joint on the planet. The Shrimp Cocktail comes to the table and the spicy aroma coming for the glass is almost mesmerizing not to mention it's rather large. The flavor is off the chain, someone in this kitchen has the passion to produce good food. The sauce within the glass has a lot of body and substance with a very nice kick. So trying hard not to over do it I order a simple Shrimp quesadilla with grilled onions to complete my meal. Perfection this place will certainly be a do over as I travel this route quite often. What a wonderful find! We are in town for a powerlifting meet and were so happy to find this treasure in the small town of Franklin, KY. Our server was so pleasant --even teased about sharing a glass of wine with us. I love it when a server is willing to chat and share some of their story. Our server, Anna, is from Jalisco. We got the fajita Del Mar. the scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly. They had a wonderful char! Authentic Mexican at its best. I saw a couple reviews comment on the chips and salsa, but I didn't mind them. The salsa had a nice bite. I bypassed my usual margarita for wine-$2.99 a glass and it was pretty good! Huge portions for a great price! With 2 glasses of wine our bill was under $25! Portions are so big that we shared a single Fajita! If we are in town again we will definitely come back!! read more
