I made a trip down to Franklin, Ky., this afternoon to pay a visit to my dermatologist nurse practitioner, who is with Graves Gilbert Clinic. I told her that I had been hearing some rumblings that Graves Gilbert Clinic was going to be sold, and she said there is some truth to that. Graves Gilbert Clinic has selected T.J. Regional Health as its preferred partner to explore a long-term affiliation. T.J. Regional Health is the parent system of T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The two organizations are now going through the due diligence process and working out the details of what the long-term partnership will look like. No final agreement has been announced yet. However, after my visit, I stopped by Oscar's Fresh Mex Taco Shop in Franklin. They are a Southern California-style Mexican fast-casual restaurant. They remodeled the old Wendy's restaurant down there, and now it is super clean on the inside, with fresh paint, fixtures, tables and chairs, along with very nice LVP flooring. And the men's restroom was super clean. So I imagine the women's restroom is too. That's one of the things I look for when I visit a restaurant. To me, you can tell a lot about whether the owners take pride in their operation by how clean the restrooms are. And apparently, they do take pride in their operation. The food was awesome, and the service was great. I suppose since it is considered fast casual, they serve the food on paper plates with plasticware. But you get free refills on Pepsi products. I had the Wednesday special of loaded quesadillas for $8.99, which came with a soft drink. The portions were very generous, and I was extremely full when I left. And the food was delicious! I only paid $10.25 total, including my tip. On Tuesdays, they offer four Southern California-style street tacos for $7.99 along with a soft drink. I would definitely recommend checking out this restaurant for the current daily-special prices, because those can change. They also offer burritos, nachos, tacos, rolled tacos, combo dinners, street corn, beans, rice, salsa, queso dip, guacamole, bowls and taco salads, chips and dips, fries, breakfast burritos and tacos, and desserts such as churro bites and raspberry cheesecake bites. Oscar's Fresh Mex in Franklin is definitely worth making a drive down there to try their food, even if you aren't going to the doctor! It's located at 527 N. Went to check out some of the antique markets looking for Christmas ornaments and stopped in afterwards. The restaurant was pleasantly decorated for the holidays, and the staff were super friendly. Ordered street tacos. They were served a little heavy on the red onion. I recommend substituting some of the red onion with red or green cabbage shreds. Nothing too elaborate, but the red onion detracts from the spices used to season the meat. I love that the tacos were served with a seared jalapeño. Was hot spice wise but cool to touch when served. Overall I would definitely go back to further try out items on their menu. A fantastic local business with hard working staff and a clean facility. Almost forgot!! The girl at the counter was very nice. The place was very clean and quiet. They played good music as well. Food was good. It could be amazing with a few tweaks. The fish was dry and had no flavor but still pretty good with the sauces. I loved the refried beans on the nachos, the best refried I've actually ever had. Carne Asada had good flavor. The wait time for food is ridiculous. One would hope waiting 20+ minutes for food, when there is nobody else ordering, that the food would be good, or at least fully cooked.
