It's a big hat. The top of this wonderful eatery is a huge sombrero. Who would not love that. It is so comfortable, clean and cute. It gets crowded so make a reservation. The service is the best, it matters not if you don't speak Spanish, they got you. And besides the menu is very clear and you can just point to what you want. Inside is so pretty with lovely art painted on the walls. They usually include the tip in the bill so check for that. The staff is all very nice and they are fast. They know the menu and can help you. They even sell cakes and other baked goods. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of it is great. If you want American breakfast they have that, but even better is their selection of Mexican style breakfast. Their machaca is great. We love their carna asada with eggs and their combination plates for breakfast are the best. They even have a kids menu. The prices are fair and dollars are always welcome, or just use your credit card. All of their dinner courses are great. They have fantastic tacos, burritos and steaks and some great seafood. Man, was this place delicious! We were staying across the street and noticed this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Everything was extremely flavorful, especially the chicharrones they bring that are smothered in a red tomato sauce! I tried the menudo dish, which was super delicious and it definitely hit the spot! I also tried the chilaquiles that came accompanied with potatoes. We got the spiciest they have, and boy were they good! Not just spicy but well balanced! I was recently in Tijuana and a friend recommended we grab a breakfast here before heading to the beach. This place is a highly popular breakfast spot on weekends and I highly recommend you call ahead to reserve a table to avoid a long wait. El Potrero is located in the neighborhood of La Chapultepec, which has numerous fine dining options. My friend arrived much earlier than I did due to Uber connectivity issues and grabbed a table. After a few minutes of perusing the menu I decided on the Carne Asada and Eggs dish. The dish includes: carne asada, beans, eggs, chilaquiles, tortillas and potatoes. Everything was good, although I wished the carne asada had seasoning to it. I also ordered a coffee and was pleased it was refilled regularly. El Potrero's menu is vast and you will need several minutes to decide. The prices are reasonable and the portions will keep you satisfied for hours. The service is okay considering how busy it is. El Potrero is a solid 3.5 and I would bump it to 4.0 if they added seasoning to the carne asada. I will return to try other dishes. read more

Wait was too long, they get you in but waited over an hour for the food, the prices where a bit high for the quality of food got the desayuno de la Tia which came with fried beans, red chilaquiles, green sauce chicharrón, 2 tamales and 2 eggs which the red chilaquiles and the tamales were not good. Had some Borrego meat & it was also good very authentic & the juice very good. The Carne Asada is the real thing unlike the carne Asada you eat in most taco shops in SD. Tortillas hand bmade baby! So make sure to ask for Quesadillas De Maiz. We all enjoyed our food. The service was good they always checked on us & the manager also checked on us & helped us which really impressed me. I love it when managers get dirty & down with there workers. They have music on weekends a live little band. The store very clean. But one of the main things that impress me was there bathrooms. YES there bathrooms, it was real clean, I'm big on that. I mean come on who wants to unload in a dirty bathroom & toilet? I've been to a few fancy restaurants & they got dirty bathrooms that's a turn off. But not here, here it was real clean. So if you're wondering, yes I took a very happy comfortable masa (Spanish for dump). Overall good place we really liked it & we will be coming back for sure. Best breakfast in Tijuana! I had the avocado omelet. It was bursting with a perfect blend of avocado, eggs, and cheese. The refried beans were very fresh. You can tell everything is homemade. My husband ordered a fruit plate with cottage cheese & I swear the cottage cheese even looks homemade. He also irdered the Mexican omelet, and his actual words were, "This is the best friggin' breakfast I have ever had!". (Thanks, honey...no more pancakes at home for you!) They even brought a basket of what they called bread to the table before our meal, but it was more like having dessert first. I really cannot rave enough about this place. We visited this restaurant on July 12th, 2019 and after fishing out meal we found a small ROACH in our soda. The manager did not come to us even after he was informed by the waite. We had to ask for him to go to our table. The justification was that they had been fumigating and the insect must have fallen in the ice maker. It seemed that it was totally justified that we consumed fumigated insects. I highly recommend that if you choose to eat at this restaurant, you check your meal, especially the ice before consuming it. Needless to say that we will never be there again. By the way, there was no movement of getting rid of all the ice left in that ice maker. So I'm positive that other people were being served the same ice although they might have been careful not to serve the insect to the customers. read more

I had a giant steak perfectly cooked with great sides. Steak had flavor not to much fat but just enough. The prices were really great. That steak would of cost twice as much in San Diego. Well , came here exclusively for the Caldo de Res. It was good! But the service at this place is so poor. extremely slow to hand you the menu, to take the order and to bring the food. I ordered 5 min ago a bottle of water .. as I m writing this review.. still no signs of the water or the waiter. Is busy but u can see couple of waiters just standing. I don't quite get this. If you've been driving around Tijuana you've probably seen this establishment. It has quite a unique structure. Well, it's a giant sombrero. There's no other way to describe it (if you don't believe me there are pictures above to prove it) I love coming here for breakfast. I don't think I've ever been here to consume anything else. One of my favorite memories about high school was ditching class to come here with my best friend and have an amazing meal in the morning. We got into a lot of trouble the times we got caught, but the chilaquiles and café de olla were totally worth it. Zero regrets here! Lately though, I've been exploring the menu more, and it's cool to see how they're expanding by adding new stuff and modifying the old stuff that wasn't selling well. For example, they added an entire section of "healthy options" which to my surprise is actually delicious. I've had the fruit salad, egg-white omelet and the veggie omelet breakfast. All of them were delicious, this has to be one of my favorite breakfast spots in town. read more

They have some of the best chilaquiles I've ever had and the waiter knew right away to make my order lactose free when I told him no sour cream on the food. Nice local place to eat in Tijuana. Tried tamarind margarita and it was amazing. Probably best I have ever had. Wasn't too hungry so tried tortilla soup and that was well prepared too.
