Best birria in the bay hands down! First discovered this place after going on a long-run in Oakland and was literally brought back to life here. The birria is very authentic to what you would get in Mexico. With birria rising in popularity it's very easy to find low quality remakes but this is the real deal. This is a seat yourself type of establishment, the menu is very straightforward I personally love the birria de chivo carnaza plato ondo grande (large deep dish) with a side of rice and beans. Every order comes with 2 bean tacos per person, handmade tortillas, and all the fixings, on the side. The birria meat itself is so tender and delicious! They also offer lamb on the weekends but they tend to sell out by noon so come here early!!! The consume is always packed with flavor and I love adding their salsas to mi gusto. I love ordering in but I also place to go orders on the phone for my family all the time! We live 10 miles away so they pack everything super well for the drive and the food reheats amazing. This place is always playing the latest game so no need to worry about missing seeing your team because you can watch the game and eat good here! Go to spot for birria, Sundays after a night out. They greet you with taquitos de frijol and that's a great start to the meal, we always order two more orders. And the birria is yummy with toppings and warm tortillas. Only thing would be that they need to clean the tables a bit more, can be left sticky even after wiping just from the nature of fat falling on the tables and being smeared. This past Saturday Was my first time coming into this restaurant and I can say it was a great experience. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a worker and was told to sit where I'd like. It being 10am, the ambiance was very peaceful with some Spanish music in the background playing and not many customers at the time. In terms of service I really enjoyed how quick they took our order as-well as brought out the food. The server also came multiple times to check in to see if anything was needed such as water or tortillas which made the experience good. Now in terms of food, I would rate it a 8/10 because although the plate looked very delicious, for $18 I expected more. The meat was only enough for 2-3 tacos so I had to fill them up with the rice and beans which is expected for it being a plate but I personally thought there should be at-least a bit more meat. The food was still very good though. And I really liked how the tortillas werent cold and was a great amount of them. Would I come back? My answer would be yes but maybe get a different plate that would include more meat for a similar price. Either way, I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend this spot anyday! read more

I went here for game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals to see the Warriors game. The bar was lively. One patron played a bunch of music from the jukebox at one point during the game which made it difficult to hear the game during one stretch making another patron at the bar frustrated. I had a cranberry juice since I don't drink. The bartender provided complimentary corn nuts & while I wouldn't normally have them I must say that they made a nice snack while watching the game. The only thing they had on the menu was tostada yet there was no vegan or vegetarian options since it was a shrimp tostada. I think there is a more extensive menu on the weekends yet might not be the most veg-friendly. I didn't come here for the food though I came here to watch the Warriors game since I was uncertain about the food menu had a home cooked vegan meal before coming here for the game. It was a great place to see the game as there was a lot of people yet wasn't overly crowded & since I arrived just after tip off was able to secure a seat at the bar. The big screen televisions were great for viewing the game. The Warriors ultimately won the 2017 NBA Championship by 9 points. I thought Cleveland played a great game yet the Warriors proved their strength in numbers carried them through. I predicted that Durant would win the Finals MVP which he did & his addition to the Warriors has made all the difference. All in all was a great place to watch the game & bartender was friendly enough. Congratulations for the Warriors for bringing another championship home to Oakland in 2017! read more

This review is just for tacos de asada. The whole experience was a little weird. When we arrived nobody was in the restaurant side to seat us and the lady at the bar just looked at us didn't even bother to say someone will be with you soon. So finally this man comes out and asks to take our order we tell him we want to dine in and he looked at us weird as if usually he's used to take out during the week because the place was dead we were the only ones dining in. So he tells us to sit anywhere we sit down and some lady comes out to take our order like ummmm we didn't get any menus. We assumed all they had was birria and when I found out it's just birria de Chivo I opted out and ordered just a beer. After three of us said no to the birria she then proceeded to let us know we have tacos, burritos and quesadillas and nachos. Okay thx I guess why couldn't we get menus. So we agree and my friend and I get two steak tacos her mom had the birria and said it was good. The tacos are huge so be careful it's not ur small regular street taco but the asada was crunchy and good with tons of onion and cilantro. So for the tacos I'd say it was ok. Best Birria in Oakland! Sure it's not the prettiest looking place, but if your born & raised in Oakland you know this is the spot to come to. The owner started selling Birria from his house every weekend and then bought this place. I highly recommend the Birria in salsa but get carnaza which is all super soft delicious meat. And now I can tell you that those fears were for absolutely nothing this place is a hidden gym on the boarder Oakland/alameda the meat was soft and with the broth it was spectacular! Along side a bean and tortilla appetizer and fresh and HOT tortillas for the meat ! Only thing sad is that I will probably never be able to come here alone or without my Hispanic friend to order for me. this eatery is inside the 400 club bar. there's no outside sign. a pool table is at the entrance of the eatery. they have a very short menu. their featured item is birrieria, i.e. goat meat which the waitress said was very good. in hindsight, i should have ordered this. anything was better than the enchilada i got. entree: enchilada (7.75) bohemia beer (4.00) chips w/salsa (comped) very good! beer-very good, the highlight! enchilada-with beef, chicken, and cheese fillings. i remember the beef because it was tough tasting. the others not memorable cuz they probably wasn't tasty. shell of enchilada seemed chewy and rubbery. beans seem canned. rice was nice, not noticeable. rating: food-2 stars + 1 star( surrondings & comped chips) pros -quiet here even though there's a bar next door. mexican music is the preferred play. cons -the food wasn't baaaahhhhh. it was almost average, a no-no for this old goat. read more

This has been one of my favorite birria spots for quite a while. It is definitely a destination spot for me especially for me being from Hayward. BUT after me bragging about it to my family I finally took my 2 brothers to eat yesterday early in the morning so they can judge it out and boy did they let me down. 1. They introduced us with a new sign saying that by January 1st they're prices have gone up. (Like the toll plazas on our Bay Area bridges) 2. Waitress tells us right away that the birria today wasn't Chivo (Goat) and that it was Borrego (Sheep). Which was a big difference. . This is one of the best birria places I have ever been to. As soon as we were seated the owner promptly greeted us and took our order. The meat was tender, juicy and not gamey at all. Authentic Mexican Berria served here on weekends only. When you come in seems like a shady place but its very friendly. The staff speak a little bit of English so ask for the menu if you don't speak Spanish. The Consomme is spicy but excellent. I have passed this place on my way to Alameda for years. I always thought it was just a bar but was recommended by a friend. I was not disappointed. The birria is nothing like I have ever tasted, it was delicious! First as a appetizer they give you tortillas with beans inside. Main dish is birria but there is also a few other things on the menu. They only downside is that everything is a little ran down inside. Also there is no air conditioner so it does get really stuffy inside on a hot day, hence why I only gave 4 stars. But otherwise it was the best birria I have tasted. read more
