KUDOS to the staff for providing supreme quality customer service! We ordered the Lunch 1 and Queso Birrea and it was delicious! The ambiance was quiet and the music was very tranquil! I highly recommend all to come and visit to support this local business !

Sad? This Mexican restaurant will turn your day around! I just moved to the area and was excited to give this place a try--and wow, it did not disappoint. The service was warm and quick, and the food? Absolutely delicious. I left with a full belly and a big smile--thanks to the perfectly seasoned carne asada. Bonus points for the complimentary chips and salsa! I'll definitely be coming back.

This is one of the best Mexican Restaurants I've been to. The food is very delicious. The customer service is very friendly. Inside the restaurant is very peaceful without too much noise, and the mural is pretty to look at. Whoever painted this mural did an amazing job with this masterpiece, I'll give them credit.

We had been on the road for 10 hours and we were ready for some good food for the rest of our trip. We assumed that this would be a safe choice but unfortunately we were mistaken. The Carnitas were beyond dry. The Carne Asada was tough. The quesadillas were decent. As for the service, we were taken care of, but with very little personality. The overall aesthetics of the building was a bit rundown and mediocre at best. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing.

You ever enjoy your food so much that you forget to breathe?! Well, I haven't been breathing for the last 20 minutes. I was enjoying my nachos so much. This was my first visit to the quaint restaurant, El Potro after an intense craving for nachos hit me. When I walked in they were singing happy birthday to a table near the door. I loved the energy immediately. Then the young man who greeted me made it clear that this is the atmosphere...great energy. He was happy and friendly. He quickly processed my payment and my food was out within seconds. I ordered to go. But my next experience will definitely be dine in. I loved my food so much, I called the restaurant back and asked that someone kiss the chef for me. Lol

My family of four was seated immediately around 8:30 on a Tuesday. Though we were hangry when we arrived we were very full and happy when we left. Everything was delicious and the staff was friendly albeit a bit slow. It was not busy. The atmosphere was so basic I can't recall anything unique but it was totally fine, clean and organized. We were there for about an hour. We would definitely go again! Price for us was around $60-ish. Highly recommend the queso!

Honestly such an amazing Mexican restaurant local to Orlando. Their deals are great, food is beyond tasty, and the service is classic Mexican restaurant service: so fun and hospitable! This is Anthony and I's go-to for authentic Mexican cuisine and we have never had a bad experience here. We've tried most of the menu and I have to say the King's Quesadilla is my absolute favorite! The quesadilla is perfectly crispy on the outside with a soft, cheesy inside full of fajita vegetables and the meat of your choosing. (I prefer the chicken!)

I'm not sure why I waited so long to try El Potro, but that wasn't a great choice. The place is excellent! In traditional fashion, the meal began with chips and salsa, which were perfect. The salsa had a bit of a punch in certain bites, so definitely watch out if you're not a spicy fan. After that we tried many different tacos and they were all full of flavor and very hearty. The tortilla was grilled a bit which made the flavor jump out even more. I especially like the verde salsa that came with the taco. It was a great flavor and added a nice cooling touch. I can't wait to go back and try more...

As always, the food was stellarly mediocre. Don't get me wrong, I love it ;^) Although their menu has expanded, the quality remains down to earth. No pretentious ingredients or false advertising at this local spot. Just sweet 2 gir 1 margaritas ! My reason for down grading this time around was the surly waitress who left us wondering.. what did we do wrong? I am sure we will be back, of course! Fingers crossed the waitstaff will be happy to see us.

Sometimes, you just want good 'Mexican' style food. And El Potro doesn't miss. I have gotten delivery from here three times and have been extremely pleased each time! It's definitely worth the buck! The chips and salsa are good. The taco salad is a bit messy but hits the spot. I've also had the fried plantain (7/10), Carnitas (8/10), chicken enchiladas (8/10), and the quesadilla (7/10). The delivery packaging it perfect, and I have never had an issue with missing items or cold food. Truly a must try!

Disclaimer: this review is for the lunch buffet only…read more I went with my family to try the $18.49 all you can eat lunch buffet. This was my first time experiencing a buffet for hispanic food and for this price point in Orlando, this is an amazing value deal. The server regularly brought us out silverware, napkins, and refilled our water. The place is decorated very fun and plays latin music which was lovely Not only was there an unlimited assortment of lunch foods, but an entire bar of fresh toppings for tacos (or rice bowls) and made to order desserts which were included for free! Not everything on the buffet line was the best but given the amount of options, price, and how good the great items are this is still worth a five star rating. I unfortunately did not take pictures of the food before I began devouring everything in sight to the point of near-collapse, but I will do a quick rundown of the buffet highlights: The best meats were the fajita steak, chicken, and shrimp made fresh in cast iron skillets, as well as the chicken lengua which was super flavorful and tender. The mexican rice, beans, fajitas, plantains, and street corn were also excellent. Fresh quesadillas, chips, and corn tortillas on standby with homemade queso and salsas. The flan and mini churros were the best I've ever had. Super rich, decadent Carmel flan. Mini churros hot and crisp on the outside, filled with a gooey soft milk chocolate center. They were delicious. Items that were disappointing: the tamales, mini chicken flautas, and beef chimichangas were just okay, lacking the seasoning and flavor that other dishes had. The beef barbacoa was not as tender or flavorful as the shredded chicken surprisingly. The mixed seafood was itself a mixed bag with some shrimps / scallops overcooked to much while others were perfectly cooked. The chicken mole and beef tri tip were room temperature despite sitting on hot plates. The tri tip also varied widely in doneness throughout the slices and not super tender. The rice pudding was pretty standard, and the tres leches cake was weird as they crumbled the cake into pieces before soaking it.

There were indoor seating options only, though it does look like they have a patio space that might be occasionally open. We were able to accommodate the entire group at one table, and we had one server assigned to our table as well. Drinks along with complimentary chips and salsas were brought out somewhat quick! The salsas were a bit on the spicy side, but had good flavor. Appetizers took about 45 minutes to get out, and they were somewhat small portions. The queso (wish I would have gotten a picture) was not what you would expect, it was thicker almost chunky like consistency. It was super tasty but not what you would likely expect by any means! Our mains took well over an hour and a half to come out. We had people in our group that ended up leaving right as their food was arriving. It was odd to many of us in the group that they kept bringing out one plate at a time for our table, but were able to serve all members of other tables sitting around us. Because of this many of us were waiting on our food while others had already finished. The food came out super slow, but don't worry the bill came out before some of us even got our food! Our server also wasn't very present, rarely did she come around to refill drinks or check on how we were doing. Overall the food was decent but not worth the wait. Would I come back...maybe? The location is convenient for a quick lunch, however the time we would likely have to spend waiting for our food may not be worth it.

I believe they have several locations in the area, and this is a newer one with very welcoming and modern interiors. They have wonderful daily specials and various happy hour periods that extend from 2 to 10 PM, including $3 tacos from 8 until 10 PM. Meals start off with complimentary chips and salsa (4.5/5), which are happily refilled upon request. We tried a variety of tacos (5/5) which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The vegetarian San Jose's fajita bowl (4.5/5) was tasty and served in a generous portion that is ideal for sharing. The cheese quesadilla (5/5) hit all the fresh flavor notes without the cheese being too sharp in taste. The churros (5/5) were the perfect dessert, having a slightly crunchy exterior and softer core as you bit into it. We loved the food and atmosphere so much that we visited twice the same week while visiting the Orlando area. Service (4.5/5) was excellent on our first visit, and slightly slower on our 2nd visit, but still incredibly friendly with management checking in on customers to make people were enjoying their meals. Overall, I'd rate the food and experience a 4.5/5, but happy to round up since San Jose's is right up my alley for an ideal Mexican meal that is delicious and doesn't gouge you with prices like other restaurants tend to do. I'll gladly return on future trips to the Orlando area and will be recommending them to others, as San Jose's would crack my rotation of a Mexican restaurants I'd regularly visit if I lived locally.
