So I've been a loyal patron for well over 10 years. I've driven as far as 48 miles one way to get their food when they were Beto's. Due to COVID-19 one would think that people would attempt to display gratitude for spending money within their establishment. Finally! The real deal! I've lived in Mexico and southern California and have been a bit disappointed with the Mexican restaurants in Central Florida. Toño's does not disappoint!! In Orlando for work and found this place close to our hotel. Kind of a dicey area, but pretty awesome food. There is a drive through option and some interesting candy vending machines inside that look like they are from 1980, but I found it very charming. At noon, I ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo. I love that I could get breakfast at any time! My friend ordered a chicken burrito (pictured) and it was ginormous. Being from California I was really missing my taco shop Mexican food. Someone in a local Facebook group recommended this place so I figured why not. It looks a little run down on the outside and we couldn't even tell if it was even open when we pulled up. We got beef tacos, a California burrito and some rolled tacos. The food was good my one complaint was the tortilla they used for the burrito it wasn't what I'm used to but it wasn't horrible. The hot sauce was also nice and spicy and flavorful. I just moved to central Florida a few months ago from San Diego. I have tried so many different Mexican restaurants around here and this one is the real deal!! I was so happy with the food, the price and the service. Their carne asada fries were perfect, the carne asada burrito was exactly like the ones you can get at a taco shop in San Diego. This place didn't knock my socks off, but it was decent especially for the price. The building is in desperate need of a remodel, especially inside. The table we sat at was extremely tilted. I'm surprised the food didn't slide off the edge. The paint of the tables and seats are flaking. You could see the older paint colors of what used to be. I was really hoping to like this place but unfortunately it was one of the worst places I've been to. To start things off the lady working the drive through was very rude and seemed to be in a hurry to take our order even though we were the only ones there but to make things worse when I ordered my tacos I assumed it would come with onions and cilantro as tacos usually do or for them to at least ask what I wanted on them but no none of that they just piled them with huge chunks of tomatoes and onions and then as far as the burrito it was just terrible the meat had absolutely no flavor and it was dripping the tortilla was super soggy I swear a microwaved chimichanga would've been better than this. She came to take my order as she finished a phone order. I ordered two tacos de carnitas and a side of frijoles. She assured me I would not need to order more since the tacos are quite large. She was right. The hot tacos were stuffed with the carnitas, a nice salsa Fresca, and I tried both their salsa verde and their red sauce. The verde was lovely on my tacos. I love the style of food, same as when I lived in Southern California, however the service has gotten slow and the quality of the food has went from descent to terrible. It took a while before it came out as there were several orders in process at the time. The burrito was typical size even though it was less than $5. Great deal. The Asada was plentiful and solid. Went well with the potatoes. The salsa bar consisted of 2 salsas, a green and an orange. The green was thinner with traditional tomatillo flavor. Both were spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The pork was very dry and tasteless. The rice was hard and the refríed beans were just mush with a tad of cheese on top. However, the torta was delish. I went here late last night night ordered an horchata and ended up ordering a enchilada dinner with my drink also. The cashier was very short with me and seemed to have an attitude problem. I pulled up and she gave me my drink, it didn't even take me more than a second to notice there was a literal l fly stuck to the of my drink plain as sight. I was repulsed because obviously she had to have noticed it too. I asked her politely if she could change it and she gave me an extremely dirty look and said nothing just stared at me. This was the Mexican food we'd been craving the whole time we were in Florida. I had chiles rellenos, my husband had chicken enchiladas, and we swooned the whole way through them. Just good basic dishes, perfectly cooked. My only caution would be to avoid eating in if you're sensitive to noise--when we were there, two TVs were blaring, the radio was playing, and every now and then someone would fire up the jukebox.
