Black rooster is one of my favorite taco spots. I usually come here after Thursday meditations. I was feeling vegetarian tonight so I got a kale salad and vegetarian taco. Both were delicious. The salad was dry for me but the nice lady running good got me some chimichurri sauce. I love the vibes here. Always bright, clean and friendly. The music is always on point. I was looking for a caterer who could make chicken Tinga for my birthday party as it is one of my favorite meals. Thanks to yelp able to find this business. I ordered the chicken Tinga as well as a quart of their rice. The chicken Tinga almost as good as the first time that I had it in Cabo. I've quite literally been chasing that flavor for the past four years and I finally found it. The chicken with Juicy well seasoned had the charm marks which added additional flavor. 10/10! Their cilantro lime rice was a seven out of 10 for me. The rice was cooked perfectly however it lacked a bit of salt. Once I added salt in a little bit of fresh lime juice, it was perfect. Our visit to Black Rooster today was my first time and my husband's second time. He was excited for me to try it and I was really looking forward to it! We ordered the guacamole and chips and it was so good! Very fresh and so flavorful! My husband ordered two tacos - Achiote Pork and the Black Rooster Asada. I've been coming here for years and it's consistently delicious. The tacos are on homemade corn tortillas, quite a few of them are gluten free. I always get the achiote pork, which is so tender and complimented nicely with picked onion, fresh cilantro and habenero salsa for a little zip. The chips are cross contaminated so I bring my own for the freshly made guac and gluten eating husband gets all the chips it comes with. We've been here a lot and will continue to come back. Honestly, this visit just didn't hit the same 5/5 level as my first time here. Since I never reviewed that initial experience (which I absolutely loved), I'm giving this one four stars with that in mind. The fish tacos are still possibly the best fish tacos I've ever had. They're incredibly flavorful and crispy, with beautiful toppings that pair perfectly with the fish. The service was excellent. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about both the guests and the restaurant itself. Seating inside is somewhat limited but still cozy, with great artwork throughout and a mix of booths and bar-top seating. I tried the nachos this time and was a bit underwhelmed, though they may just not be my thing. After my first visit, I've gone back again because I had such a great experience. Starting, parking is tight, so if you can't find a spot in the back there is ample street parking, but just know it could take a minute or so to get it figured out. Also, luckily, it's not been terribly busy when we've been, but its tight inside, so I'll assume it's difficult to find a seat during peak hours. Now, the food is incredible and worth all of those minimal hassles you may find. Maybe I should have led with that, but, it was worth the wait. Chips + Guac are a perfect combo to start the meal. Poor experience here at Orlando City game. Ordered two beef nachos @ $16 each. It was backed up and they had us wait on the side. Another 10 min after the order, It got so busy with people waiting on orders. A large crowd formed in the waiting area. My nephew finally got our orders and got bumped by the crowd and his quac fell off of his nachos. Upon asking for a replacing for the quac they told us we had to purchase it. Frustrating experience on how the line and crowd management was handled. Not helping out with the situation is absurd. Another local legend in the books for me. I don't know why it took me so long to come here, but in terms of word-of-mouth, this place is like in the top five of popularity. So I grabbed some friends and went to see what this place was all about. Ambiance is very good. It's like a Hispanic dive bar. Very tight and comfy and with very fun artwork all over the walls. It's counter service, and has an open kitchen. Very nice employees all around, and you can see the gang having fun in the kitchen, just creating a good vibe. As for the food, well, it was out of this world. There are 10 main tacos on their menu, so we ordered one of each, of course. Because if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. The menu said that these are corn tortillas, but there's something special about these corn tortillas. They act like flour tortillas. They are very soft and fold very well. I didn't have one break on me the whole time. Very good tortillas. As for the fillings, they really give you great bang for your buck. The tortillas are filled up and couldn't get any fuller honestly. High quality stuff. Every ingredient tasted very vibrant and fresh. And unlike other taco shops that just give you different combinations of the same eight ingredients five at a time, this place has unique ingredients for each one of their 10 tacos. Something small, and maybe not everyone would notice, but I noticed, and I thank the Black Rooster. Looking back, I couldn't possibly remember all of the tacos and describe all of them, but I will highlight some things. The Chicken Tinga was the biggest surprise for how good it was compared to initial predictions. The Atlantic cod in the Crispy Fish taco was amazing. It's a fatty enough fish to really be something substantial. Don't sleep on their vegetarian options. Their smoked kale was omg, mind blowingly good. I finished up with a Tres Leches Cake (3 milk soaked sponge cake). This was ok. If you're a tres leches fan, but don't want to order too many tacos, for fear of not having room for dessert, just get the taco. Overall, I understand now. This place was amazing. We got in line and were able to grab one of the front counters by the windows.
