Excellent customer service. Funny and delightful, happy staff. Awesome food and fast too. I am super picky about meat and it was great.

Our first time at El Puerto Mexican Restaurant was amazing. Started with complimentary chips/salsa, yummy. I ordered the Street Tacos (not what they were called here but what I normally call them) absolutely perfect! The steak was moist & delicious, the salsa, lime, cilantro & onions all perfect together. I ate 2 & have one for lunch tomorrow. Hubby had the chicken enchiladas with beans. He was asked if he wanted salsa & he replied no, along with no cheese (allergies) his plate came out plain (as photo shows) instead of correcting this he mixed his beans over the top & enjoyed. (He wasn't disappointed) Our friend had the steak fajitas & they were delicious, hot, spicy & just delicious. Yes, I had a bite, but he tried mine too & decided that's what he's getting next time! My peach margarita was peachy deliciousness what a perfect blend of peach & tequila. Our server was perfectly knowledgeable & courteous, checking on us frequently. We got there just as dinner was starting (between 530-600) the restaurant started filling up but the atmosphere wasn't crowded or loud perfect for table side conversations. Priced right at under $55 for 3 people. What a wonderful little gem in small town America. Definitely a must on your Kansas journey. read more

Went to lunch here after some business in Clay Center. I was with a group, and I ordered off of the lunch menu. I had the lunch chicken quesadilla with rice, and a side taco. The chicken quesadilla was absolutely nothing special, I can honestly make better at home. The carne molida taco was also non-descript....crunchy, but bland. However, the rice was pretty decent..after I doctored it up with some salsa and hot sauce. A friend at the table did not receive her strawberry iced tea and another lady received ice in her drink when she requested no ice. Other than that, the service was decent if not all that attentive. We didn't receive refills until we asked for it....but for small town ambiance, it's a worthwhile stop. read more

I love this restaurant. The food is amazing and authentic and all seems to be made from scratch. The salsa is absolutely delish. I highly recommend the chicken fajitas, but every dish we have tried has been superb. The servers are friendly and efficient just fun. We usually have a late lunch and the ambiance is comfortable, the acoustics are good, We live in a near by city with many Mexican restaurants and drive 68 miles just to dine here. read more

This place is the hidden gem of the small town of Clay Center. People actually drive for miles to eat at this amazing restaurant. Every chance we get, as a family to be in Clay Center either baseball, cross country, or basketball, We make it a point to stop and eat at this amazing restaurant. Even if you live an hour away and just to enjoy a drive around Milford lake. make it a point to have dinner at this restaurant. Chips and salsa are amazing. Food is amazing and services always quick and courteous. Please make sure you get an order of chips and salsa to go as well. Or you'll regret it.... read more

This place has been great since they opened. Every visit has been great. I've learned to bring my own Tabasco. The chips and salsa served at the beginning of the meal is always fresh and tasty. Very good Mexican restaurant. I had the chili Verde last night and the Pollo Loco with a frozen mango margarita tonight. The Pollo Loco was better than the Chili Verde but that is purely a taste preference issue. The mango margarita was very good. Salsa and chips was solid as well. As one other reviewer previously mentioned, this place is a gem! I had a quesadilla and my wife had the la Prima dish. Both had excellent flavor and were cooked perfectly. The service was great and very quick! The only 'bad' review on this restaurant was the pre-made guacamole, that came from another reviewer. While I would've preferred homemade guacamole, if this was the only bad thing, in my eyes that does not deduct a star. My favorite thing at this place was the salsa. It had great flavor and was perfect as far as hotness goes. So many Mexican restaurants have such bland salsa these days, this one was probably in the top three that I've had, and I eat a lot of Mexican! We will definitely be back in the future!! read more

Never had a bad meal here and the service is almost always fast and friendly. To go orders are very quick. The restaurant was recently remodeled so the interior is nice. The free chips and salsa are great...the cheese dip & flour chips are awesome if you order them. read more

If you like Mexican food, and who doesn't, this is the place to go. I took my granny there a couple of weeks ago. She's 92 and doesn't get out much and is also suffering from dementia so it goes without saying she's good for laughs. I told her I was taking her to Mexico, she really got excited. When I wheeled her into the restaurant and she saw all the Mexican stuff around and the Mexican help it was like she was in seventh heaven. I called my favorite waiter aside, Paco, and we fixed up a little treat for granny. I had him fix up an enchilida soaked in green chili sauce and slathered with the hottest peppers this side of the border. We both watched gleefully as granny bit into the "atomic" enchilada!!! You should have seen the steam blow out of every orifice on the old broad!!!!! Talk about having a good laugh, we sure did. I gave Paco a dollar tip for helping me with that little trick!!!! Now granny has always had a filthy mouth but you should have heard her swear after her demented old brain figured out what we had done. I laughed till I wet my pants!! Anyway try this place out, it's great. read more
