My boyfriend and I came here because it said online that they had margaritas for $1 on certain days, but that was not true. In hindsight, we should have suspected the website was outdated, but we know now. The inside of the restaurant left much to be expected, and the bathroom was gross and smelled bad. There was an employee in there watching TikTok loudly on her phone from the next bathroom stall. The quesadillas were super greasy. At first glance we couldn't tell if this was a restaurant or not but we had been told it was. The inside and outside are both very bland and plain, with little to no decorations. On their website it had a Margarita special which is actually what we came for but when we ordered, they said they don't do that anymore. We felt like we were already seated so we got a Margarita and some food anyways. The food was ok, not really great but not bad. The Margarita was very strong and didn't do much to counter the tequila flavor like a lot of places do. Our server seemed to avoid us for a while when we were hoping to get the check. I talked to some other people who had gone and said it wasn't very good either. I think there's a lot of potential here but I'll need to wait before coming back too soon. read more

Please read! As I was eating my taco salad I bit into something very hard and hurt my tooth. I soon realized it was a metal link off a wristband. As I pulled up to this place, I wondered about it as it was not appealing from the outside, neither was the interior, but I thought I would give it a try. Eric R. loves this place so we come a lot. It is a very popular spot in town too, especially when there are $1 margarita nights. We share the molcajete El Tapatio, which has skirt steak, chicken, shrimp, nopales, queso, grilled jalapeno, and grilled onions in a spicy salsa with tortillas on the side. It also includes chorizo which we get on the side since I do not eat pork. Chips and salsa are plentiful and free, and you can request a spicier salsa too. Tip: you know it's excellent when you don't have to add any salt or pepper to your food. Not the case here, bring your own spices. Their food is okay, nothing to write about, just bland. Margarita was a giant glass of lime juice. I had the chicken chimichanga and it had little to no flavor except for the queso they smothered it in. Almost tasted like they used can chicken. So I'm originally from Virginia and I had one place in particular that I would always go to eat Mexican food, a hole in the wall that was as authentic as you can get. I recently moved here to Manhattan Kansas and tried this place out because we saw the reviews. Well to cut to the point my husbands dad is Mexican and he grew up with authentic Mexican, the food disgusted him. He ordered a seafood option and everything was rubbery and lacked any pop of flavor, I ordered a burrito and somehow this poor excuse for a Mexican restaurant messed that up too with lack of flavor and a dry experience to say the least. Even the chips seemed to be from a bag they just bought at the closest grocery store and watery cheese dip to boot. Please don't come here it will only be a waste of your time and money! read more

We walked in right around 6 on a Saturday and there was a line of maybe 12-15 people... we weren't super thrilled about this (especially since nobody seemed to know a wait time) but we'd gotten a glowing review from the nice cashier at GameStop so we decided to wait. And lo and behold, three minutes later, all 18 of us were seated with menus in hand. At rush hour on a Saturday. Perhaps it is because they are brand new here and enthusiastic, but this place is very good. I hope they keep it up. I ordered a lunch special at 2:40pm; had a beef chimichanga plate. It was delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. One pet peeve I have at most Mexican restaurants is the tiny dollop of sour cream they give, but there was plenty on my plate here. Not a bad Mexican restaurant on the west end of town. I'd rate this one somewhere in the middle of the pack. I liked the feel of the inside of the restaurant; it felt really clean. I also liked the menu with all the pictures. The Tacos de Carne Asada is all about the meat. And maybe this is more authentic but it tasted more like stewed than grilled steak. After years of eating Mexican food throughout California then experiencing an utter lack of any good Mexican food in Hawaii, I think it's only fair for me to preface this review with a disclaimer: I am rating this based on Mexican food in Kansas. 2 stars: $1 margaritas The original is best. The flavors (tried strawberry and mango) are little sweet, and you lose that margarita/tequila flavor. 2 stars: exceptional service You really get the feeling of a family style run business, and everyone is nice and helpful. 1 star: for having hot salsa BUT you have to ask for it. The one they bring out with the chips tastes good but has ZERO kick. 1 star: for having cholula, too -1 star: no more sangria -1 star: carnitas Half the meat was tender and moist; the other half was too dry (hence -1). I really appreciate the delivery of the carnitas. Instead of being torn apart already and drizzled with grease/sauce, the chunks retain their own juices, and you can tear in and enjoy both the crunch of the outside and the tenderness of the inside. Yum! Portions are incredibly huge. The gigantic chunks of carnitas, large servings of rice and beans, tortillas, and pile of lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and salsa fresca filled the big plate. Oh, did I mention they brought it out with guac??? sweet! I'm not sure if locals will find the portions huge, since I'm noticing at other restaurants the trend is for gigantic servings (compared to what I'm used to). Avoid the churros- they taste like they were frozen and thawed. The biggest downfall is the salsa- it tastes very "ketchuppy" and not spicy. I'm from Arizona, so when I happened to be in Manhattan, KS, I never expected to find good Mexican food. Since we went at a time between lunch and dinner, we were the only customers in the place and decided to eat in instead of just pick up. The place was extremely clean and the service was amazing. Ok, now for the important part...THE FOOD!!! I had the four "street tacos" plate. These were by far the BEST tacos I've ever had (and I've had a LOT of tacos!!) My recommendations: I used the salsa that came with the chips instead of the one that came with the tacos and although it was good, I'd trade the chorizo taco for any one of the other meats because they were OUTSTANDING!!! read more

So for a while I liked this place a lot. But, two times ago when I came I found ground beef and chicken in my VEGETARIAN fajitas. Today it happened again. I'm a strict vegan so this is a problem, and the dish was listed as vegetarian. To me, this shows that they don't clean their cooking surfaces between meals and cross contaminate. Gross. My wife and I tried this place for the first time. It is by far the best Mexican food I have ever had in a restaurant. My wife ordered a chicken taco salad, and while simple, only meat, lettuce, sour cream and wuacamole, the meat was thouroghy seasoned, and literally filled the bottom half of the bowl. She said is was hands down the best taco salad she had ever had. I ordered the enchiladas supremas, and my chicken was very flavorful. The says they used was a dark sauce, possibly mole, but it was spicy but sweet. Extremely tasty food, huge portions, great prices, and fantastic service. We will definatly be going back read more
